  1. Good Morning, Everyone…. 🛍NEIGHBOR-COULD! 🛍

🎶 But let me give you some good advice..what’s gonna make you feel nice…Shop til you drop…🎶 “Shop Till You Drop” – April Phillips 2008 https://tinyurl.com/2j3r79vj

🛍 Today we’re seeing HOLLY out for a walk with Joe,
They’re seeing all new businesses, as down the streets they go..
A shop to buy a DOILY, an AVIARY too,
The shopkeepers plan to CAJOLE whoever comes on through…
And Joe and Holly did agree as near Bay Street they stood…
That busy streets gave shopkeepers a burgeoning “LIVELY-HOOD”!

So…”A lot of people out” …busy area…(i.e.) LIVELY…and “opened in the community”…(i.e.) a neighborHOOD….And the mention of “new shops” and “small stores”…Plus the giveaway quotation marks? The shopkeepers are looking to make a livelihood… https://tinyurl.com/2p8brhnx Hence…It’s created a “LIVELY-HOOD”! And it’s brilliant! I’m SOLD! …And I’m definitely sold on our cartoon too. Because just like our neighborhood, there’s “many small” Gems here today….

Ok. Location…Today we’re shaking things up a bit. Today, we’re in Petoskey, Michigan… https://tinyurl.com/2p9yrxxw a coastal resort community…and we’re facing Bay Street. Directly behind Holly and Joe, there’s a Toy Store, with a whimsical scalloped awning. Looking through the window are a Father and son, and on the shelf you can see Calvin’s stuffed Tiger, Hobbes, https://tinyurl.com/593h6k5y and Opus The Penguin, https://tinyurl.com/bde5fwry from the comic strip, “Bloom County”. On Bay Street, the building at left reads “Jumble 1954”, and if you look real closely, you’ll see David working at the window at left, ever-present steaming cup of coffee in hand, while at the right window Jeff’s dogs, Fifi and Gizmo hold court. And down on the street, alongside his opened guitar case, is Jeff himself, strumming and belting out a tune, attracting the attention of the passersby. But what makes this little community special is what’s behind Jeff. “Palette Bistro”. https://tinyurl.com/2p82ebt4 (disregard the misspelling on the sign…these things happen)…And if any of our readers are in the area, you’ll be pleased to visit the restaurant. Because not only can you satisfy your culinary PALATE, but you can also enjoy the ambience of rotating artwork created by Petoskey’s local artists. An added bonus! Oh, and the young woman at the window above the restaurant, below the pair of lovebirds? She definitely seems smitten with either Jeff or the music…or both! …It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood! https://tinyurl.com/6szymx9a

So…There you have it Folks…Done. Have a good one. Be well, be kind, stay safe…and ignore all the high-end shops in the song video…That’s a whole other STOREy…and besides, it’s the BOUGHT that counts! 🛍🙋🏻‍♀️

    I STAND WITH UKRAINE 💔🇺🇦
…AND I STAND FOR REFORM IN AMERICA 💔🇺🇸

  2. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Once her Grandmother’s old HOLLY-embroidered DOILY became soiled by a wayward bird, there was no way he could CAJOLE her into accepting his budding AVIARY…potential LIVELIHOOD or not…🤷🏻‍♂️

🤦🏻‍♀️ Because her name was HOLLY, she thought for the bird’s name,
She’d go with “Holly’s Dolly” and she’d etch it on a frame,
The AVIARY offered framing….save for a nominal fee,
They didn’t have to CAJOLE much…and Holly did agree…
But when the placard did arrive Dolly was spelt DOILY,
Needless to say there was no way that Holly now could see…
    Accepting such a shoddy job…She said…”This isn’t good…
Best for you not to branch out…to enhance your LIVELIHOOD”! 🤦🏻‍♀️

  3. Good morning thirsty-Thursday ! I’ll have my usual Shirley temple and try to interpret todays jumble ! But HOLLY made me jolly as I used a DOILY under my Shirley temple ! I needed to CAJOLE someone to solve the jumble cause I couldn’t get it ! Well this was the spur in this weeks jumbles ! I also had to look up CAJOLE ! Oh well tomorrow’s another one and I’m sure the week will end in a LIVELY HOOD ! Everyone have a great thirsty-Thursday !!!!

  4. There was no blind solve this morning. Speedily unscrambled anagrams to find no solution at hand. After the longest time (it seems), found the word LOVELY and that didn’t help. Next, saw HOOD and that finally gave way to the answer. Angela, you find soooo many things in the cartoon….Amazing. And you chose a good, catchy song. Well done !!

    • Tks, Terry. It was an amazing cartoon to work with. Major Kudos and thanks to Jeff on this one..👏🏻👏🏻… I had a little trouble with the link to the restaurant, but I finally got it to work. Hope things are going well in your HOOD this morning! 😉🙋🏻‍♀️

  5. Good morning. Bombed out on Cajole, even looked it up for its meaning then gave up on the cartoon answer. All and all a bad start for a new day. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.

  6. Hi Everyone –
Not an easy solve for me. I stumbled around for a long time until, like Terry, I spotted Hood. Great details, Angela. Jumble fans can learn so much about the puzzles by reading your posts.

  7. We should really all be vocal
    Make it front and focal
    Enter the doors
    Of our neghbourhood stores
And be sure to keep it local!

  8. 🛍 When the Mega stores came on the scene,
Mom and Pop Shops were looking quite lean..,
    People stopped dropping in,
    But here now we begin…
Seeing things return to what had been..,🛍

    👍🏻 Communities can never thrive,
If inhabitants don’t look to strive…
    Visit local shops,
    Support Moms and Pops…
And help keep neighborhoods alive! 👍🏻

👫🏻 Today we see Holly and Joe,
Walking through the streets that they know,
    Downtown they won’t need,
    For they’ve both agreed…
Their neighborhood meets status quo! 👫🏻

    • It seems we have a colossal fight ahead of us to keep huge stores/businesses at bay. And of course, there’s online shopping!

      • The Mega stores do have their value. I shop them. And unfortunately the pandemic brought the necessity for online shopping to an unforeseen level. But I’ve never stopped patronizing my local stores. I think it’s just a matter of finding the right balance…because at this stage of the game, the Mega stores are definitely here to stay…🤷🏻‍♀️

        • I was pleased to be able to source locally, rather than online, and make a sizeable purchase the other day. I looked for the item online only to realize that it would be better in this case, to shop in person. The local business was very helpful and pointed out exactly what I should buy – and had it in stock! No “supply chain” issues this time.

  9. Good mental workout this morning. No problem with the anagrams but had to study the cartoon and dialogue a bit before connecting “community” and “hood”. Thanks for all the background information, Angela. I was not familiar with Petoskey, Michigan so I learned something new. Happy Thursday all.

    • Tk you, Betty…my pleasure….And I was fortunate to learn a few things myself. Wishing you a Happy Thursday too! 🛍🙋🏻‍♀️
