🎶 Some boys take a beautiful girl…And hide her away from the rest o’ the world…I wanna be the one to BASK IN THE SUN…Oh girls, they just WANNA HAVE SUN…🎶 “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” – (with apologies to) Cindi Lauper 1983 https://tinyurl.com/bdfvz2bf
🏖They both were travel lovers, a SAFARI or a cruise,
They’d visit places oh so QUAINT, or big cities to schmooze…
Good health did BLESS the both of them, so they just up and went,
No reason to SPURN wanderlust…nor worry what was spent
So here they are in Europe now…this trip has just begun…
A lot’s on the agenda, but first they’ll …“BASQUE” IN THE SUN ⛱
We’ve another day of all new anagrams…and to sweeten the pot, we have here today a really clever pun. If you solve by the cartoon and question alone, and you’re familiar with the BASQUE https://tinyurl.com/3bsb8h8j region, you’re in like Flynn. If you solve with the letters, and surmised the two and three letter words had to be IN and SUN, but ‘aren’t’ familiar with the BASQUE region…well…you may be treading water here…It’s a brilliant play on words, and I’m sure if you just think about what we’re seeing, the couple BASKING IN THE SUN…it’s a piece of French pastry…but again, it all hinges on knowing BASQUE – Northern Spain, Southern France. The hints? A slew of them…The couple shown “BASKING”, the countries and the border stated in our question, the “head to Bilbao” https://tinyurl.com/3sc9bshf , “then cross over to France”, and “I need to work on my tan” in the dialogue? ..It’s definitely all MAPped out for us…and I SHORE hope you figured it out…
So, There you have it Folks…Done. Be well, stay safe…and if you are ever sunbathing in Northern Spain, order the soup…You’ll have yourself a great BASQUE bask bisque…🫕🙋🏻♀️
Thanks for the wake up song Angela. I went straight to posting without reading anybody’s comments. I always liked Cyndi Lauper for her tenacity. She was good at reinventing herself after leaving the wrestling world. She’s has moxie. Take care.
YW, Paul. Tk you for saying.so…And I agree. Moxie is right..🏖🙋🏻♀️
🛖 While on SAFARI, they came upon a QUAINT little village, where they stopped to BASK IN THE SUN…and didn’t SPURN the offer of oil to BLESS themselves with…that was offered by a native woman…🛖
⛱ He sneezed, she said “God BLESS you”…he laughed, thinking it QUAINT,
She a religious person, him agnostic…so he ain’t…
They met while on SAFARI, she felt first that she might SPURN,
Advances he made towards her…but her feelings then did turn
So now they’re on vacation, an affair def was begun…
And here they lie together, as they both BASK IN THE SUN…⛱
Ok ! Happy Friday ! The words came to me without a SPURN . How QUAINT was it that I’ve had trouble with the previous jumbles and this one was a BLESS ! I didn’t even have to go out on a SAFARI ! The jumble , I put together with the couple saying while getting some sun , they wanted to go see France and Spain and they were right near the borders of both countries, which is where the Basque people are , which is what I got after I pulled out IN and SUN and the quotation marks made it BASQUE IN the SUN ! Very nice ! And Angela , great song ! Have a great start to the weekend !
Tks, Jim. And wishing you the same. 🏖🙋🏻♀️
As I was cogitating over the puzzle cartoon, a dazzling flash of light came to me in a blind solve…Hope I get some of those flashes of brilliance doing the LA Time Xword puzzle in our paper…Thursday and Friday getting tougher these days.
All anagrams done speedily, yet I had to spend a few extra minutes on QUAINT, and that was a back-in.
Had to cover over the trellises for this morning’s freeze again…but only 32 on the patio. Thanks Angela…hope the feast was great….see ya Saturday
Good Morning, Terry. It was wonderful…thank you for asking. Have a good one…🏖🙋🏻♀️
I had put AFAIRS, where SAFARI was supposed to be and still came up with the correct answer, but was surprised that I had used the wrong word! No “Basque-ing” in the sun out here today with all of this snow! 🌨❄️☃️ Have a warm and cozy weekend!
Dealing with it here too, ❄️❄️ Kimberly…Ugh! And wishing you the same…🏖🙋🏻♀️
Thanks Angela! 🌬🥶😆
YW! 🙋🏻♀️
Good morning. When I checked the words I made I was surprised to find the the last word I had as Afairs was Safari. Other than that blooper, the cartoon answer was a breeze but not a blind solve. Until tomorrow stay well and safe.
Good Morning, Paul..Kimberly did the same..This may be a trend today…😉 Have a good one, Paul. Be well and stay safe out there…🏖🙋🏻♀️
Always pleased to hear I’m in good company in Blooperville! 😄😄
No problem w the anagrams, though I wasn’t sure of the spelling of safari.I wasn’t familiar w the Basque region, but seeing in and sun,Basque was the obvious solution.Freezing here at -6 this morning,Brrrr.
Stay warm, Professor…and have a good one…🙋🏻♀️
Very clever puzzle this morning. No problem with the anagrams or the cartoon solution No basking in the sun around here – we’re due for more rain though at least the weather has warmed up. We were in the 30’s & 40’s last week which is super unusual for this area. We’re back in the 50’s which is much more livable. Wishing all of you a good day.
Definitely no way of explaining the weather anymore, that’s for sure..Here?…We have +*&#…if you catch my DRIFT! 😉 ….And yes a very clever puzzle today. Enjoy your day, Betty. Stay warm…and safe. ⛱🙋🏻♀️
RIP, Mr Poitier. God speed…🙏🏻
Yes, he was a terrific actor and an quality human being.
A true Gentleman…🙏🏻🙋🏻♀️
Betty…I was just sent this. I thought you might enjoy reading it…”So much of life, it seems to me, is determined by pure randomness. I have always been a learner because I knew nothing. Simply wake up every morning a better person than when I went to bed. So I am OK with myself, with history, my work, who I am and who I was.” – Mr Sidney Poitier …What great words to live by. And he leaves behind a wonderful legacy…🙏🏻
Oh No! I didn’t know about this until I came back on to read a few more posts! We just watched,”To Sir, With Love”, about a week ago. “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner” was one of my Mom’s all time favorites, as well as my own! Significant loss to the world!
Good Morning, Everyone… hope this finds you well…
🏖LESS ASKING…MORE “BASQUE-ING”⛱
