  1. Good Morning, Everyone….
    🥤 WATER YOU KNOW?…WET A CLEVER SOLVE! 🥤

    🎶 CHUG-A-LUG, CHUG-A-LUG…Make you want to holler hi-de-ho…🎶 “Chug-A-Lug”:- Roger Miller 1964 https://tinyurl.com/mr3hcn6z

🏃🏻‍♂️When people run a Marathon, hydration’s definitely key,
And spectators watch them go by, UNION mentality….
They feel they’re in it with them, no cat-CANARY scene,
They’re all in it together…helping runners reach their dream…
The runners, some all SOGGY, and all in need of drink,
So water’s always handed out…and cups the runners sink…
They HOLLOW them out quickly, while keeping their pace strong…
A nod, a wave, a thank you…as they all just CHUG ALONG! 🏃🏻‍♂️

In what now seems to be a RUNNING theme, today, once again, we’ve four old words, and three new anagrams…the repeat being LOWHOL from 2018. But they were all easily recognized, making for a quick DASH to the FINISH LINE..And HOLLOW is how I’ve been feeling without my group of Early Birds, who I was hoping to be back with this morning, but unfortunately not yet…A number of them were affected by the tornadoes, so we haven’t been together…

Ok…our puzzle. This one definitely WHET my appetite this morning…CHUG ALONG, https://tinyurl.com/2p88bn6v a well known idiom, is a perfect punny solve for our puzzle today. And CHUG, being defined as a large gulp of a drink, is just what our runners are doing, as they run ALONG…So no matter which way you look at it, this solve was obvious from a MILE away! And it’s definitely a WINNER!

Jeff’s Gems? The dialogue is right on TRACK…a lot of encouraging talk RUNNING through the panel…and the discarded cups on the ground ring true…But the WINNING touch? The numbers worn by our smiling woman and our thirsty, struggling man: 19 54…the year the Jumble began RUNNING…So FOOTING…I mean fitting!

So…There you have it Folks, Done. Have a good one. Be well, stay safe…and always keep in mind how important good footwear is should you decide to run…You’d hate to suffer the agony of deFEET…🏃🏻‍♂️🙋🏻‍♀️

  2. 🙇🏻‍♂️ When the UNION employee at the pet shop, who hoped he’d just CHUG ALONG for his eight hours, found the SOGGY-bottomed, HOLLOW CANARY cage, he knew it wouldn’t be an easy day…🙇🏻‍♂️

☔️ The day was dank and SOGGY, the HOLLOW looking bleak,
Why even the CANARY was so quiet…didn’t peep…
The UNION that they planned outside, now ruined, there was no way,
A wedding could take place out there, on such a rainy day
They felt let down, but just the same, despite what had gone wrong…
They’d make the best of it indoors…they’d all just CHUG ALONG…☔️

  3. 🏃🏻‍♂️Today our theme deals with a race,
And how runners, not losing their place…
    Chug down water for strength,
    Grabbed quickly at arms length…..
The whole time while keeping up pace! 🏃🏻‍♂️

  4. Good morning. Only half completed. Got the words but not the cartoon answer. When I didn’t see stay for the first word I couldn’t get passed that. Loved your song choice Angela. I do enjoy his novelty songs. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.

    • Good Morning, Paul. Glad you enjoyed it. Have a good one. Be well and stay safe out there…🥤🙋🏻‍♀️

  5. After a few days of easy solves, this one was a toughie. First three anagrams were easy enough but spent awhile on CANARY. As I was examining puzzle letters, absolutely nothing came to mind. Went down a couple of ‘OUGH” rabbit holes until I found ALONG. Still….CHUG didn’t just go out and grab me and it took a few seconds to unscramble that…Whew!!, what a morning. Very apt song this morning…a must listen for sure.

  6. Just chugging along today until the puzzle solve. But when I saw Chug the rest came Along. Big snow coming to the Great Plains this weekend. A Soggy start to the year but I’ll be singing like a Canary in an old Hollow tree because my Union contract got us some extra time off.
Likely is my last Jumble for a couple of days so Happy New Year to all the puzzlers. Chug-a-lug, chug-a-lug for sure, Roger Miller fans!

  7. Good catch on the date, Angela. With no idea for the answer, I tried making words with GH and CH. That gave me Agog Lunch (I bet Jim could think of a rationale for this) and then Chug. . Wishing all a nice day.

  8. Nice cartoon today, but I missed the neat reference to 1954 until Angela pointed it out. Took me a bit to figure out “CHUG ALONG”…but it was the perfect idiom for the cartoon. But after entering the solution, the online version of Jumble said I had the wrong answer. I had flown through the first word and thought it was “ONION”…and had to go back and figure out that it should be “UNION” instead. That did the trick. I’ve got my new Jumble-a-Day calendar, so I am ready for 2022. Have a great New Year!

  9. In my mirage of letters I kept seeing the word “gulch” which, of course, has nothing to do with the cartoon, whatsoever! I think I was looking for the word “gulp” which led me to CHUG, and the rest of the answer! Wishing all of you “Jumble Gems” the very Best in the coming New Year! Many Cheers to you All!

  10. Now running a marathon’s not easy
Dehydrated, you start to feel queasy
    But if water you’re given
    You’re sure to be driven
To make the the whole thing look really quite breezy!

Almost 10 a.m! I really am running late this morning! Hope this is not too late to catch up with all of you.

    • Hi Helen. There’s no reason to worry about a time schedule. Feel free to post a comment at any time…We’re “open” 24/7! 🏃🏻‍♂️🙋🏻‍♀️

      • Just playing around with the them of the jumble today Angela!

I just feel like the White Rabbit this morning – “I’m late, I’m late……” Actually I’m rarely late for anything.

It’s always interesting to consider sports that are measured in strict time – running, swimming – and those that are not – tennis, golf – and those that have time constraints such as soccer, football.

  11. Last real paper of the year,as my papers won’t publish on Friday and Saturday.Canary had me stumped at first but I finally got that anagrams, but the cartoon stumped me as I was thinking ‘gulp’ rather than ‘chug’,and ‘along’ totally escaped me.Not a good end to a real paper Jumble.Happy New Year to one and all.

  12. First thought of crayon instead of canary. Had to resort to paper and pencil to figure out the cartoon answer but once I saw “along”, “chug” was obvious. Hope you are all chugging along towards a good New Year!
