Good Morning, Everyone…I hope this finds you well…
✍🏻 TIME TRAVEL? AND NEVER THE TWAIN SHALL MEET? ✍🏻
🎶 You’re the only reason why…Oh, I don’t wanna live a lie…MARK MY WORDS…🎶 – “Mark My Words” – Justin Bieber 2015 https://tinyurl.com/wdxnbf6b
✍🏻 Like YEAST can “rise” a loaf of bread, Hank Morgan too was raised,
His mind just left his body…and the novel was well praised…
The plot at first did SIMMER, Mark Twain he had a dream,
That he had been a knight, and so…well feasible it seemed…
(And here I need to state that with both WIPER and with DONKEY,
I’ve reached a dead-end trying…so lest I appear the flunky
I’m leaving them and moving on…before my thoughts get blurred…
My patience has run really thin…and you can MARK MY WORDS)! ✍🏻
You may recall that we’ve recently seen Mr Twain, this past May, https://tinyurl.com/2zj9e2t7 but it’s always a pleasure. Who knows…maybe if David goes too long without thinking of him, he gets Delirium CLEMENS!
Well…That WORD streak we were on has come to an end. Today, it’s just one anagram being PUBLISHED for the first time, RPWEI. The others, along with our WORDS, have all been seen before…But it’s all good, because they’re great anagrams just the NAME, I mean the same…And while the EB’s all found the entire puzzle an easy READ, it was an enjoyable one…MARK MY WORDS! https://tinyurl.com/yc3wcrun
So…Circa 1888-89. Smoking his ubiquitous cigar, Mr Twain, https://tinyurl.com/4fpn4c4n along with a colleague, is seen sitting out on the porch, enjoying a drink…Having just written “A Yankee at the Court of King Arthur”, (one of the original titles, and what can be seen written on the book pictured), we overhear them discussing the viability of MARK’s book about time travel, where a man, Hank Morgan, is hit on the head and finds himself in Arthurian England. https://tinyurl.com/3p5s2v34 As far as he’s concerned, it’s a NOVEL idea…In fact, he’ll make BOOK on it… https://tinyurl.com/mry3uaav So we hear him proclaim..”I guarantee people will love it…MARK MY WORDS”!…The End…
So, There you have it, Folks…Done. Have a good one. Be well, stay safe…and I’ll leave you with a quote of Mr Twain’s …”I don’t give a damn for a man that can only spell a word one way”…Perfect WORDS for us Jumble lovers! ✍🏻🙋🏻♀️
…AND OUT OF THE ARCHIVES…🔠🙋🏻♀️
The puzzle of April 24th, 2015: “The inventor of the felt tip pen said, “These will be a big hit…The solve: MARK MY WORDS! https://tinyurl.com/44dcc78f
🥮 After moving his baking goods business to NY from the west coast, he renamed it, “YEAST to East”, but his temper began to SIMMER when he saw that the sign maker had written, “Be WIPER With Your Riser” instead of ‘Wiser with your riser’…and angrily muttered…”MARK MY WORDS, I’ll never use that DONKEY-brained guy again”…🥮
🥣 In the midst of all her cooking, she ran out of the YEAST,
Her soup still on a SIMMER, she now feared it’d ruin her feast…
The rain outside was pouring, but her windshield WIPER snapped,
So going to the store was out…she suddenly felt trapped…
She called the dish her DONKEY soup, because it had a kick,
But now she feared it was a bust…she had to think…and quick…
Could she just change the menu, or was that way too absurd?
She thought aloud, “No more dinners…I mean it…MARK MY WORDS”! 🥣
Good start of the week ! The anagrams were easy peasy , YEAST i thought they were ! We had a little rain so I turned the windshield WIPERs on , but no rain earlier so I went on my walk and saw something funny , and I laughed “Hee Haw” ! Someone heard me and said are you a DONKEY ? I looked at them and said no , and you better SIMMER a down ! Ok I can’t think of any songs about Mark Twain , I hope Angela has one . Hey ! Everybody have a good Monday , cause that’s a Novel idea !
Wishing you a good Monday too, Jim! ✍🏻🙋🏻♀️
“Mark Twain” – Harry Belafonte
Thanks , I saw that one , but it didn’t sing a bell ! Stay dry ! ☔️
Thanks don ! I saw that one , I just didn’t know it , anyway have a good day !
It’s a very good morning thinking about one of my favorite authors, Mark Twain. Mark My Words: Even a Donkey knows that a Wiper is a hybrid striped bass that you can deep fry with a little Yeast and beer batter but let it Simmer before eating! If it’s cold and windy on the Great Plains, can winter snows be far behind? Probably. Shivering in Old Omaha.
Have a good one, OO…Stay warm…✍🏻🙋🏻♀️
Or MARK MY SWORD?
Good morning. The words were a snap and after gathering the letters for the cartoon answer I decided to ride this one out. If I spent fifteen seconds at the letters that was a lot. Mark my words it was more Pleasant having breakfast than racking my brain. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.
Good Morning, Paul. Wishing you the same…✍🏻🙋🏻♀️
Anagrams came quickly, but the lack of vowels were problematic for the cartoon solution.Realizing the Y would have to suffice,my was a quick solution for the 2 letter word, quickly followed by the obvious complete solution,Mark my Words.
Happy St Nicholas Day,when I was in grade school, our German pastor celebrated by giving us kids a fruit: apple or orange treat. My Romanian grandfather would come upstairs and toss whole shelled walnuts around the floors in honor of St Nick.Fond memories indeed.
Happy St Nicholas Day to you too, Professor. Take care.✍🏻🙋🏻♀️
I am a right-brain challenged person, so answers don’t just float into view for me either — I must analyse the letters. The words were easy and the resulting jumble only had two regular vowels and three words — so “y” must be used as a vowel — which, as appears happened with you, led me to “my” — the rest fell into place. One small step can lead to a giant leap 😉
Well, it seems that Hank tried to impose contemporary thinking on a society that predated him by about 1000 years and he was resisted. Sound familiar?
From New England back to the Old
There’s a tale about to unfold
Hank tries to update
The state of the state
But is pushed back by those knights oh so bold!
Have a good day, Helen. Enjoy! ✍🏻🙋🏻♀️
I will. Thank you Angela. I have not read A Yankee at the Court of King Arthur, so will try to do so. Possibly it is available online,
YW! ✍🏻🙋🏻♀️
Today marks the anniversary of the publication of “A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court” in England, under the title “A Yankee at the Court of King Arthur.” It was published under its more familiar title in the US four days later.
Thanks, Ronald! ✍🏻🙋🏻♀️
After Stumbling on Yeast, everything fell in order. Now I must use the shovel, the )&@?! Blower before the freezing rain! Yuck!!! winter is now here! And to think I could be in Florida had it not been for the Covid! Still grateful to be healthy at my age! Vive le Canada 🇨🇦!
I hear you, Christian…+=&*#! the virus…and %=*§<! the <]¥%&! … Be well…and stay safe out there…🙋🏻♀️
Words were a piece of cake lost patience 100 YR OLE LADY elsewhere
Always good to see you, Eleanor. Be well and stay safe out there…✍🏻🙋🏻♀️
Easy breezy one for a Monday morning. He and Bret Harte both worked for our local newspapers before they became famous authors. He is credited with saying, “The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco”. Wishing all of you a good day.
Wishing you the same, Betty. Take care. ✍🏻🙋🏻♀️
Felt like having a cigar and a drink, after the answer eluded me for a bit! 🤣🤣🤣 Oh, well, had neither! Gosh, did not know the link between Tesla and Twain! Big, Big fan of Tesla!! In my opinion, Underrated and stripped of his publicity of knowledge and inventions. Thanks for the info, All. Have a great week!
Wishing you a great week too, Kimberly ✍🏻🙋🏻♀️
Took awhile to get to the Jumble this morning…as we drove back from Ft Worth to Austin this morning…Didn’t see a blind solve coming…so put it away until safely back. Always a good time to remember 1927 Rodger’s and Hart musical….then later the 1949 movie starring Bing Crosby, with songs by Van Heusen. Stay warm and cozy today while this cold front works its way through
Have a good one, Terry…🔠🙋🏻♀️
Ooops!! In the word “yeast”…..you have put the ess in the a place. That doesn’t compute. Do I get a prize for noticing the oooopsie?
Janet. We here have nothing to do with creating and /or publishing the Jumble. We just do commentary. So I’m at a loss as to what you’re referring to. If you’ve found an error, it may be either the fault of your newspaper and/or whatever online site you’re using to do the puzzle…There’s no error in my paper, the NY Daily News, nor the online versions offered by the Tribune Co. 🤷🏻♀️
