🎶 SOMEONE TOLD ME long ago…There’s a CALM before the STORM…I know, it’s BEEN COMING for some time… I want to know…Have you ever seen the RAIN…🎶 “Have You Ever Seen The Rain” – Credence Clearwater Revival 1971 https://tinyurl.com/yf9t76sz
☔️ He stood before the camera, all dressed in black and white,
He looked like a KOALA bear…as he explained his plight…
He’s definitely not a COMIC, so he figured he’d play straight,
And blushed red like a RADISH, as he stood to face his fate…
He screwed up on the forecast, but he’s not IMMUNE to jeers,
So his promising tomorrow that there’s no chance skies are clear…
Was taken with a grain of salt…he’s sticking out his neck…
Will his guarantee hold water? Well tomorrow we’ll RAIN CHECK!☔️
Not sure WEATHER or not you remember, but last month on the 13th, we had that puzzle dealing with the predictability of long range forecasts… https://tinyurl.com/4j3hkym8 Today, though, we DEW it differently…Today we’re living in the moment…and waiting to see WEATHER or not our meteorologist here is all WET…
So, predictably…no new words today. And once again, we’ve a split decision with our anagrams…We’ve seen OLAKA in May of 2020. and NIUMEM in November 2014. As for the deciphering, there was a red face or two with RADISH, and there was a slight resistance to IMMUNE. But with the Early Birds having those SUNNY dispositions as they do, no one STORMed off…As for the solve? “Storms” “Wet weather”…””Tomorrow”?…It couldn’t have been MAPped out any CLEARer…
Ok…In the studios of Jumble TV, in a state that’s not all that CLEAR, during what appears to be the evening newscast. And what we’ve got here is failure to communicate…predictably. Our weatherman has come up a day late, and a holler short. Having called for RAIN for today, and come up dry, he’s heard saying that he double-CHECKed, and before everyone starts SQUALLing, I mean squawking, he’s guaranteeing the wet weather for tomorrow…He’s giving us a RAIN CHECK! Brilliant, David…you’ve done well, SUN!
Jeff’s Gems? The Signature Jumble “J” on the anchor desk and the camera…where if you look real closely you can also see the broadcast being filmed…Nice touches…DEWly noted!
So, There you have it Folks, Done! Have a good one. Be well, stay safe…and I’ll leave you with a little weather humor…A friend of mine recently dropped out of the college meteorology program he was in. He’s somewhat of an introvert…and he just felt that too much of the grade was based on class precipitation…Hmm…And I’ll make like that rain…and see you tomorrow…☔️🙋🏻♀️
PS: I love trivia and pop references…so I’ve included a little movie trivia in my write-up…DEW let me know if you catch it…😉
Two rain songs by credence , I like both yours and mine , very appropriate !
I still listen to CCR on vinyl…they had a lot of good music..l🙋🏻♀️
Dear Angela:
As a film historian, I instantly caught your reference:
Cool Hand Luke (1967), starring Paul Newman, George Kennedy and Strother Martin. It’s Martin, as ‘The Captain’ who gets the classic line, ‘What we’ve got here is…failure to communicate!’ Paul Newman as Luke repeats it at the end.
👏🏻👏🏻! Bingo, Joe! ⭐️⭐️!… If I may call you Joe…Thank you! I was beginning to think that no one reads my stuff! Or beyond that…that no one remembered the classic line. I never saw the movie in the theater, but I have the DVD, and it’s definitely one of my all time favorites…and the line is one I quote all the time…My way of avoiding a lot of arguments! 😂 Again thank you, you’ve made my day…And again, I hope I didn’t overstep by calling you Joe…it just rhymed so well with the Bingo! I know I abhor when anyone calls me Angie, so I try to be sensitive towards others. And speaking of movie trivia…you’re going to love tomorrow’s puzzle…Be well, Joseph…and stay safe out there…📽🙋🏻♀️
Dear Angela:
Officially, I’m Joseph T. Porter but to friends, I’m Joe. So…what we have here is….successful communication!
🤷🏻♂️Collinsville, IL, the horseRADISH capital of the world, played host to a comedy special; but when the stand-up COMIC, performing near the KOALA exhibit, chose to stop the show due to the approaching storm, he was IMMUNE to the jeers of the crowd demanding a RAIN CHECK…🤷🏻♂️
🙇🏻♀️She wouldn’t eat the RADISH, refused to change her tune,
She said she was allergic…or did she say IMMUNE?
The Order of KOALA Bears had just sat down to eat,
And didn’t need her harping about vegetables and meat…
“The steak’s too dry”…and blah, blah, blah…”Don’t think I’ll leave a tip”..
She carried on until a COMIC thought enough to quip…
“We’re trying to have dinner here, so c’mon what the heck…
Leave with your stormy attitude…we’ll mail you a RAIN CHECK”! 🙇🏻♀️
It’s Saturday ! Time to party and do the jumble ! The first and third anagrams were easy , but the second and fourth ones were hard , I couldn’t get them so I looked them up and I was rolling my eyes 👀 ! I should’ve gotten them , but oh well ! When I read and saw the cartoon and watched the weatherman , I thought 🎶 long as I remember, the rain been coming down .🎵clouds of mystery pouring, confusion on the ground . 🎶 good men through the ages trying to find the sun , and I wonder, still I wonder, who’ll stop the rain. 🎶 . So everyone have a great weekend and stay dry and no RAIN CHECK !
Good morning. I had to look up Immune. Most of the times when you see it after you unscramble it you wonder how it eluded you. Oh well. The cartoon answer was a blind solve. Could that be Al Roker from NBC, sure looks like it. Loved your song choice Angela. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.
Good Morning, Paul. Funny you mention Al Roker. We talked about that last night, because I saw a resemblance too… but Al doesn’t have a mustache…so…it was up in the AIR…😉 And IMMUNE had a few of the guys blinking too…Glad you enjoyed the song choice…Another thing the guys brainSTORMed (or should I say..RAIN STORMED)?😉…last night…There’s like 130K some odd songs out there relating to RAIN, so things got a little CLOUDY…but as always I went with the first one that started playing in my head…But it was definitely a lively conversation…a lot of HIGHS and LOWS! Hoping you’re well and staying safe too, Paul. Have a good one..☔️🙋🏻♀️
It seems that the rain is on hold
Tho’ that’s not what the weatherman told
Now he’s left high and dry
Not a drop from the sky
Next time he won’t be so bold!
Good Morning, Helen…☔️🙋🏻♀️
☔️ When you make a mistake with the rain,
And you’re forced to stand there and explain…
It’s just best to eat crow,
Not like people don’t know…
Weather’s simply impossible to feign! ☔️
💦 Day was dry when he said it’d be wet,
It’s a forecast he’d like to forget…
He explained the storm stalled,
So no rain or snow squall…
But he’s saying today it’s a bet! 💦
☔️Meteorology…science at work,
Although sometimes we’re hit with a quirk…
‘Cause the atmosphere plays,
In mysterious ways…
Mother Nature…she gets all the perks! ☔️
Straight out of the starting gate, Marsha blurted out RAIN DELAY….I thought she was spot on until I spotted COMIC with two “C”s….Didn’t think much more of it and tackled easily solved anagrams to get the last word…..So many RAIN songs out there to choose from…Laughter in the Rain, Soon It’s Gonna Rain…and then there’s Fred Astaire singing..Isn’t it a Lovely Day to be Caught in the Rain. Good choice Angela. Will see what Sunday brings.
Tks, Terry…Rain songs…there’s a DELUGE out there! 😉 ☔️🙋🏻♀️
No raining on our parade here today. Sunny and 72 degrees predicted. Guess our “atmospheric river” two weeks ago counted as winter. First saw immune as minimum but once that got straightened out it was an easy solve. “Class precipitation”? Good one, Angela. Wishing all of you a good day.
LOL! Tks, Betty. Winter? Another 4-letter word! Wishing you a good day too, Betty. Enjoy! ☔️🙋🏻♀️
Speaking of horse radish,,the old west side market in Cleveland, had a little old lady that sold the best and hottest horse radish from a mid aisle booth.Anagrams were a quick solve, even immune, but miscopying the letters from radish hindered the cartoon solution.
Our t hose sewer has failed, and were marooned in a hotel until at least Wednesday, yuck.
Sorry, Prof…But with no newspaper delivery? 😱Be sure to check it out on line…Hope all goes well…☔️🙋🏻♀️
Hotel is 5 min from our house,so I can retrieve the morning newspaper,as I did this morning.Problem is the plumbing is 100% not usable at the house,so we go to the hotel to use their plumbing and sleep there. At least until Wed morning,as the sewer repair is scheduled for Tuesday.
👍🏻🙋🏻♀️
Easy going today and another rainy weekend! But what a beautiful week we just had. giving me plenty of enjoyable days of leaf raking and … thank goodness, no snow in the horizon!
Have a restful weekend
Christian
…All due respect, Sir…but we don’t use that *(‘,#@ word around here! 😉 Have a good one, Christian…☔️🙋🏻♀️
No Reno rain. Remember the movie the rainmaker with Burt Lancaster. Enjoyed all of the comments today. This is Millard from Reno
Hi Millard.:Good to have you here again. And yes, that was a great movie. Hope all is well. Take care. ☔️🙋🏻♀️
