  1. Good Morning, Everyone…I hope this finds you well…
    🌊 WITH IRON SPINE…SHE WALKS THE LINE 🌊 **

🎶 You’ve found yourself a friend that knows you well…But no matter what you do…You’ll always feel as though you tripped and fell…So STEADY AS SHE GOES…🎶 “Steady As She Goes” – The Raconteurs 2006 https://tinyurl.com/muf8munf

🌊 The year was 1876, Maria made five trips,
Don’t dare to call her YELLOW, it would only take one slip…
Of course there was the GOSSIP, about why would she ENGAGE,
In such a dangerous task as this…some thought she was deranged…
“What if the day turns DRAFTY, Mother Nature might ASSIGN
Some wind and rain to battle her”…heard while she walked that line
And people they did GATHER, where Niagara’s water flows…
To marvel at Maria… definitely STEADY AS SHE GOES! 🌊

Maria Spelterini. https://tinyurl.com/ubf79fz4 Hmm…A young Tuscan woman from Livorno, Italy. Gutsy, fearless…but in my opinion? Pazza as we Italians say. Quella ragazza è completamente pazza! Me, with my ancestors further down south, from Naples and Basilicata? We had more sense…The only thing that we did that would be considered daring was maybe drink red wine with fish once in a while…Real cutting EDGE…And as far as balancing goes? We called it quits after checkbooks… but as I said…we had more sense…

Anyway, our words…All tried and true, and except for an Early Bird blinking at YELLOW, the guys went straight down the LINE with no SLIP UPS at all. The solve? A little slower than usual, but STEADY AS SHE GOES! https://tinyurl.com/sn22r2p5 With the spot on dialogue…”keep her balance”, and “one step at a time”? It turned out to be another WALK IN THE LARK…I mean park. STEADY was the key! And as soon as my vertigo subsides, I should be ok…Funny thing…Yesterday David gave us Vampires…the day before that Moles…This keeps up, I may reach my peak nightmare level all in one week! C’mon David…where do we draw the LINE here???

Ok, our cartoon. Love the period clothing…and Jeff’s done a great job with capturing the SUSPENSION that the crowd’s feeling…and the huge crowd wraps all around from left to FRIGHT…I mean right. But if you look closely, you’ll see that Maria’s wearing what looks like a lightweight, summer straw hat. Must be one of those hats that comes with a strap underneath…You know…just in case you have to stick your neck out… https://tinyurl.com/4ystvzvx

So, There you have it Folks, Done. Have a good one…Be well, stay safe, and keep in mind…If you’re considering taking a shot at tightrope walking? Start off with a BALANCED diet…Ciao, Signore e signori 🌊🙋🏻‍♀️

    ** With apologies to Johnny Cash… https://tinyurl.com/45eervvh

  2. 📝 Trying to live up to her mantra of “STEADY AS SHE GOES”, she couldn’t help but be tired of having them all GATHER in the DRAFTY teacher’s lounge and GOSSIP…so she decided, as Principal, to ASSIGN them tasks to ENGAGE in…and printed up the chores on YELLOW index cards…📝

🗣She always dressed in YELLOW, and the GOSSIP mill was rife,
Like DRAFTY days in winter, insults flew ‘bout Robert’s wife…
Why they’d ENGAGE in idle talk and ASSIGN names to her,
Was way beyond Bob’s reasoning…and he tried to deter…
Them all when they would GATHER and talk about her clothes…
But she chose to ignore them all…stayed STEADY AS SHE GOES!🗣

  3. Took a while today but got most.
    Dodgers lost (DAMN}
GLAD tomorrow is a new day……………………………….

  4. A crowd pleaser indeed was Maria. Here goes:

On a rope over Niagara River?
Most folks would quake and quiver
    But Maria had spunk
If she fell she’d be sunk
And she sure knew how to deliver!

    • 🌊 Why Maria would choose to do this,
Young and pretty, enjoying life’s bliss…
But she made it a game,
      With five crossings came fame…
Really gutsy this Italian miss! 🌊

🌊 Till this day she remains the sole one,
Other women? …This thing we all shun…
      Tightrope walking? Oh please,
There’s no day here to seize…
      Think unbalanced…and don’t mind the pun! 🌊

🌊 For a woman she definitely had guts,
Crossed Niagara…no ifs ands or buts…
She had nerves made of steel,
      Guess that was the appeal…
As for me I just think she was nuts! 🌊

🌊In the circus at only age three,
      Then toured Europe… performed perfectly…
She proved that she could do,
What she set her mind to…
      Brava! Maria Spelterini! 🌊

🌊One must wonder just what would possess,
Her to cross o’er this gorge in a dress…
      But forget ‘bout the clothes,
      I’ll bring this to a close…
By saying she deserved success! 🌊🙋🏻‍♀️

  5. Thanks Angela for all the info on Maria Spelterini. From Livorno you say. English version of the name is Leghorn, from where the famous Leghorn chickens were exported. Well, Maria certainly was no chicken……

    • Good Morning, Helen. No shrinking violet, that’s for sure! Enjoy your day, Helen. Be well and stay safe…🌊🙋🏻‍♀️

  6. We just didn’t have it in us to complete the puzzle answer. All the anagrams were unscrambled speedily, but we couldn’t figure out any of the words…Thought THE might be part but were wrong. It doesn’t happen very often, but had to peek at the answer. Looking back on the letters, probably should have picked out STEADY. Have a great Sunday

    • Hey Terry…A really clever one today. Gotta hand it to David…he definitely sets that bar high! 😉 Hope your day’s going well, Terry. Enjoy! 🌊🙋🏻‍♀️

  7. Good morning. Got the words pretty quick but did struggle on the cartoon answer. It took awhile but like walking on the wire, slow and easy did the trick. Until tomorrow stay well and stay.

    • Good Morning, Paul. Kudus 👏🏻👏🏻 for sticking with it…Hoping you’re well and safe too…Have a good one…🌊🙋🏻‍♀️

  8. I saw Lowley where Yellow should be and after a correction that made all the difference in solving the puzzle. Maria was certainly a class act. She wasn’t Yellow but had to Gather her courage to Engage in that Drafty walk or Gossip would Assign her a fraidy cat. Steady as She Goes, indeed. When crews shut down the falls in 1969 to study erosion, they found two bodies and millions of coins, most of which were removed. So glad one of those bodies was not Maria’s.

    • Indeed! …Maria was definitely unique, without a doubt. I would have loved to been able to speak with her…(is that proper grammar)?…even just to have asked her why. But I’m sure she’d have answered, “Why not”…Here’s to Maria! 🍷…Have a good one, OO. 🌊🙋🏻‍♀️

  9. Good mental workout this morning. No problem with the anagrams but the cartoon answer was another story. Had to resort to paper and pencil as well as putting the puzzle down for a bit and coming back to it and of course studying the dialogue. Finally got it!! Hooray!! Rainy windy day today. We’re having an “atmospheric river” storm whatever that is. It’s either feast of famine around here. Heaven knows we need the rain so won’t complain. Wishing all of you a good day.

    • Betty, I said the EXACT SAME THING this morning while listening to the news. “Jeez, these poor people…it’s either feast or famine out there”…You’re always in my thoughts, and my prayers are with you that the rains fall where they’re needed…As for the puzzle, Kudos 👏🏻👏🏻 for sticking it out! It’s definitely a good one…And just a side note…I rec’d my first delivery of the Jumble calendars…the second’s due to arrive this coming week.Soooo well worth the wait! Enjoy your day, Betty. Stay well and safe…🌊🙋🏻‍♀️

      • Thanks, Angela. It’s not a fit day out for man or beast. I too just received my calendars this week and I ordered them in August. Was beginning to wonder if they were caught up in this supply chain business. Our stores here have many empty spaces on their shelves. It’s such a weird time. Take Care,

        • YW, Betty. I can imagine. The weather’s just so erratic. We’re on alert again for another storm between now and Tuesday also. “Significant rain and winds” ..with our usual “flash flood” warnings…It’s tough to deal with. The calendars…I ordered in August too, but they did say then that they’d be shipped late September. Then I received emails saying they were delayed again into October…So, I’m waiting for that second shipment. Actually the second order they’re splitting in two. I have a Disney Princess calendar coming also…and even that’s delayed. Everything seems to be delayed…and like you, our stores here are experiencing the same fate. It’s eerie, and saddening…And the images of all the ships…mind boggling…Anyway…on a much lighter note…if your ears were ringing…it’s my fault! I was talking about you…because you’re going to love tomorrow’s puzzle…😉Have a good night, Betty. Stay dry…💦☔️🙋🏻‍♀️
