Good Morning, Everyone…I hope this finds you well…
🚪 LIFE IS JUST A BOWL OF CHERRY…WOODS 🚪
🎶 That’s life….(That’s life)…I tell you, I can’t deny it…thought of quitting, baby…But my heart just ain’t gonna buy it…🎶 …”That’s Life” – Frank Sinatra 1966. https://tinyurl.com/3uww6ta3
🚪 We often hear it said that craftsmanship is not the same,
And furniture today just doesn’t live up to the name…
Of what it was like years ago, strong with a shiny GLAZE,
I don’t think that we’ll ever see quality of those old days…
Some pieces hand carved ornately, a FINCH or a FELINE,
And guaranteed their quality it stood the test of time…
You’d JOSTLE those old pieces, and there’d be no chance of strife…
You knew your furniture endured…it had a LONG SHELF LIFE…🚪
I got a chuckle at the dialogue…I wrote my rhyme without seeing the cartoon…and it looks like we were both BUILDing on the same thoughts…
Once again, no new words today, but fresh anagrams to work with. And while the solve was automatic, an Early Bird did blink at FELINE. Needless to say, one or two others got a little CATTY and teased him about it, but it was no big deal…SOFA, so good…
Today’s cartoon brings us into a furniture store, where a salesman is telling our shopping couple that the quality of the antique bookcase, (with its tiny price tag shown hanging at the upper right hand corner), that they’re looking at just doesn’t exist anymore. 200 years, and it’s still holding its own. Strong, durable, and hardly showing its age. Just what I look for in a man…I mean a piece of furniture. And I was surprised to see a FELINE statue off to the side…with it being one of our words today. IKEA little pattern there…Anyway, with the SHELVES on display, our husband marveling at its age, and our question mentioning the 200 years…it was easy to see that this bookcase has enjoyed a LONG SHELF LIFE!
So, There you have it Folks, Done. Have a good one. Be well, stay safe, and I’ll LEAF you with a little Furniture story… I was in the market for a new couch…The salesman at the furniture store pointed to one in particular, and told me, “This sofa will seat 5 people without any problems….I said, “Where the hell am I going to find 5 people without any problems?” And WOOD you believe that he didn’t even laugh? C-OUCH! 🛋🙋🏻♀️
AND IN OTHER WORDS….🔠🙋🏻♀️

🐈 Looking at the GLAZE in the eyes of her FELINE as he pursued the backyard FINCH, she saw him JOSTLE the birdbath, and was convinced the ceramic piece would never see a LONG SHELF LIFE…🐈
🏺The statue of the old FELINE, Egyptian in its mode,
Had stories of voodoo-like past…things that once were forebode…
A FINCH and snake were featured in the background of the piece,
And fearing it might JOSTLE, he kept it far out of reach…
It had a shiny GLAZE to it, this piece of art so rife…
With stories of its fabled past… Cat with a LONG SHELF LIFE…🏺
Fun, easy challenge to day.
Enjoy the etoasy days 2….
Dodgers had an amazing comeback today!
They were headed to 0-3 but rallied to make it 2-1, wow what a feeling!!!!
Yep, another easy one, Mig. Have a good night.🚪🙋🏻♀️
It’s “ hump-day “ and a great easy jumble to head into the weekend. I really surprised myself , cause I got all the words and the jumble without a problem ! I should put a GLAZE on this one, and the FELINE cat that was chasing the FINCH around didn’t JOSTLE me at all ! I can’t find a song to go with this so let’s just everybody have fun and have a good day and a LONG SHELF LIFE !
Wishing you a good day too, Jim. Enjoy! 🚪🙋🏻♀️
🛋 With today’s furniture mass produced,
And IKEA’s come-one to seduce…
People settle for less,
There’s a lot of “wood pressed”…
And the quality’s greatly reduced…🛋
🪑 There are pieces passed down family lines,
And they’ve proven to pass tests of time…
There was quality then,
In those days way back when…
And the furniture aged like fine wine! 🪑
🚪All those years when they made furniture strong,
Craftsmanship showed you’d never go wrong…
Back then you bought real wood,
‘Oer the years it’s withstood…
In a class of its own it belongs…🚪
📚 See this bookcase with its many shelves,
From a time when they prided themselves…
Artisans plied their trade,
Sturdy furniture made…
Still today we see buyers who’ll delve…📚
🛌 Hope our couple decides to invest,
In this bookcase, clearly of the best…
Showing no wear and tear,
Without phony veneer…
Quality it does surely attest! 🛌
Wow! a 2:18 a.m. post Angela! I can’t beat that! Here is my late offering:
The bookcase of solid wood
The test of time has withstood
It’s one of a kind
A very rare find
And the quality’s far more than good!
Hi Helen…Hope you have a great day! Be well and stay safe out there…🪑🙋🏻♀️
All very well-written!
Tk you, Helen.🪑🙋🏻♀️
The solution to this is LONG SHELF LIFE, meaning it has a shelf life that is long. There is a shadow solution, namely LONG SHELF LIFE, meaning the life of a long shelf. It’s two nouns preceded by an adjective. Such is ambiguous unless the second noun is made up of the first. YELLOW BRICK ROAD is not ambiguous because a road is made up of bricks; a brick road that is yellow is the same as a road made out of yellow bricks. That’s not the case here, since a life is not made out of shelves.
Jim…As always, there are no words…Have a good one…🪑🙋🏻♀️
The Feline could not Jostle the branch to make the Finch fall so to enjoy it with an apricot Glaze. A bit macabre but I’m in a foul mood after not coming up with Long Shelf Life. First time in maybe forever that I have failed to solve within my self-imposed time constraint. Good news out of OTown is that the local zoo announced two pregnant elephants. Big bundles expected to drop in February.
Sorry you’re feeling so bummed, OO. At least with the Jumble, you know there’s always tomorrow…Hope your day’s started looking up…Take care…🚪🙋🏻♀️
Not an easy one for me. I got sidetracked thinking Feel or Fine would be one of the words. Once I found Shelf, the clever answer came.
Hi Caroline…Yes, Shelf was the key…Kudos on sticking it out! Have a good one…Enjoy! 🪑🙋🏻♀️
Right off the bat, thought of SHELF LIFE, but didn’t pursue. Really thought it didn’t make sense. So quickly unscrambled anagrams to find those words were part of the answer. Interesting musings on adjectives and makes sense to me…and any Frank Sinatra recording is always welcome here. Enjoy the day
Hey Terry…I always thought Long shelf life to be a pretty common term, so I didn’t give this much thought. But it looks like it’s not that well known by everyone…As for Sinatra? Definitely always welcome! Have a good one, Terry. Be well and stay safe out there…🪑🙋🏻♀️
Good morning. A complete failure today. Unable to get the last two words and gave up after a few minutes on the cartoon answer. When you look at the answer you wonder how you didn’t get it right away especially after looking at the letters. Think I’ll make myself smile again listening to Angela’s brilliant song choice. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.
Good Morning, Paul. Glad the music saved the day! Stay well and safe…and enjoy this beautiful weather we’re being blessed with…🚪🙋🏻♀️
JOSTLE is a word that I’ve rarely seen in print, so I looked up the word to make sure I spelled it correctly. For the answer, I found it hard to find 5 letter words. It therefore took a while to find SHELF. After that it was easy. Overall, a good puzzle.
I thought it a good one too, Dennis, but as I mentioned, I’m familiar with the phrase…so it popped right into my head. And Jostle? Maybe David just threw it in there to shake things up! 😉 Enjoy your day, Dennis. Take care…🛌🙋🏻♀️
Feline gave me reason to pause, but having all the anagrams and multitude of letters, which can give me trouble ,led to long life quickly followed by shelf, for a successful hump day solve.
Good going, Professor! Have a good one! 🪑🙋🏻♀️
Clever puzzle this morning. As usual, studying the dialogue and the cartoon drawing led to the answer. Happy Wednesday to all!
Very clever, Betty…And yes…it’s always there in the dialogue and the cartoon…And a very Happy Wednesday to you too! Be well and stay safe…🪑🙋🏻♀️
