    🎖They’re standing at attention, their legs are feeling sore,
    Can’t let them get UNEVEN…must be flat upon the floor…
    Can’t be a GLITCH of any kind, ‘cause Patton’s on the base,
    They stare straight TUNNEL-vision like…and this will be the case…
    Patton’s known to be CRANKY, the man don’t suffer fools,
    He’s by the book..don’t dare IMPAIR what to him are the rules
    So these guys stand and just INHALE, their thoughts about infinity…
    It might just be that long…with George in the GENERAL VICINITY!🎖

    I would imagine anytime a General showed up on base, that things would be a little IN TENTS, but one gets the impression that when it came to General George S. Patton… https://tinyurl.com/ym22erkt it was taken to a whole other level. He didn’t earn the name “Old Blood and Guts” by dropping by for tea…

    So, our words. Recycled favorites, and fresh anagrams…a nice combination…makes for a bit of a challenge. But the Early Birds snapped to ATTENTION, and there was just a bit of hesitation with INHALE. But the solve was pretty BASIC. Must be all that TRAINING these guys have…So, with Patton being the puzzle’s man of the hour, GENERAL immediately came to mind…and the dialogue giving us “on base”? It all fell INTO LINE…No kidding around with this one…or shall I say No INFANTRY??? Either way…GENERAL VICINITY it is! Definitely a 5-Star solve! …Oh, sorry…make that 4 Stars…

    As for our cartoon, it’s pretty BASE-ic…Soldiers seen standing at attention, General Patton off to the right exiting his jeep and being saluted. Housing along the background, and of course our Flag. But that’s about it…Nothing else to WARrant our attention…

  4. 🤦🏻‍♂️He had to INHALE when he heard that his CRANKY old Uncle would be moving in the GENERAL VICINITY of his home, and hoped that the man’s UNEVEN temperament wouldn’t IMPAIR their relationship further…because the least little GLITCH might find him looking for a TUNNEL to retreat into! 🤦🏻‍♂️

    👏🏻👏🏻 The kids they want a TUNNEL, so she’s trying to build one,
    It’s looking all UNEVEN, and she’s only just begun…
    One GLITCH after another, things just IMPAIR all her work,
    She’s starting to get CRANKY, maybe INHALE? …might help perk…
    Her spirits up ‘cause she’s had it…she’s feeling kind of drained
    She takes a break…and surveys what if any ground she’s gained…
    And feeling better now is filled with a brand new sanguinity…
    The backyard tunnel’s done…and kept in the GENERAL VICINITY! 👏🏻👏🏻

  5. I found the Sunday J this week to be difficult. It took more time to solve the anagrams and the cartoon solution took forever. I found GENERAL quickly but the second word took a while. So many letters in a solution!!
    Dodgers are evening up the NLDS. Game 3 will be on Monday……………………….Climate is mild in SoCal. Going gambling soon.

  6. Good morning! Had a little GLITCH with CRANKY, I’m a little tired so I’m gonna INHALE and follow the UNEVEN tracks through the TUNNEL where my Vision is IMPAIRed , so In GENERAL, goodnight and “ GO BROWNS “ !!!

  7. Got the word VICINITY quickly, based on clues in the cartoon, but took a minute to get GENERAL. Forgot to look for the obvious word which was missing in the cartoon, and then realized with George S. Patton, it had to be “GENERAL”. Made me wonder if anyone has ever put together “tips” to solve the Jumble puzzles.

    Go Astro’s. Might clinch their spot in the ALCS finals today if they get past their UNEVEN performance and avoid a GLITCH. If so they might TUNNEL into the World Series against Mig’s Dodgers in a repeat of 2017.

    • Good Morning, Brad. You were definitely going in the right direction with General. Whether you solve with the letters or not, General was key. As for tips, it sounds like you’re already utilizing whatever you might need. I study the dialogue and the question, and if that doesn’t automatically give it to me, I search the cartoon for clues.   8. Uneven got me,then the many letters were too many for me to get the cartoon solution,Ironically,I just watched the movie,Patton ,on TV the other day,a real classic.George C Scott was terrific,but also so was Karl Malden as General Marshal.

  9. Good morning Angela. I would have to do some research into the life if Gen Patton to come up with something really pithy, but here goes. It’s a bit wishy-washy, unlike Patton.

    Though at times a contentious figure
    The battlefield he could sure configure
    Patton led from the front
    And his words could be blunt
    But none could match his vim and his vigor!

      Had a hell of a lip…
      And a history place did he claim…🎖

  10. Took a quick look and knew GENERAL was a part of the solution….Some quick thinking and VICINITY came into the arena for a blind solve. All anagrams went pretty smoothly so all in all, a confidence building Sunday. Great song choice and felt like jitterbugging around the kitchen table !! Was thinking Irving Berlin’s “You’re in he Army Now” could have been a close second. Have a great Sunday and will catch up with you soon.

  12. Good puzzle this morning. Anagrams solved easily but had to pause at the cartoon. Once I found general, vicinity followed easily. It always amazes me how studying the dialogue really is the clue. Patton was such a classic movie and George C. Scott superlative in the part. There were so many memorable scenes – one I especially like was when plagued with bad weather he commands the chaplain to write a prayer for better weather. Wishing all of you fair weather today.
