Good Morning, Everyone…. 🚊TIME TRAVEL 🚊
🎶 I paid my way out on the 42nd Street…I lit a cigarette and stared down at my feet…Imagined all the ones that ever stood here waitin’…At GRAND CENTRAL STATION…Grand Central Station…🎶 “Grand Central Station” – Mary Chapin Carpenter 2004 https://tinyurl.com/k9m9x2sx
🎹 The piano may say Jumble, but readers be assured,
It’s really a grand Steinway…that you’ll see before you board…
And people greeting loved ones, all GIDDY now to meet,
Can hear the sounds of ivories at 42nd Street…
There is a lot to DIGEST there…points major and some MINOR,
But as train terminals go…you’d be hard pressed to find finer…
The shopping and the restaurants…CANOLA oil a scent,
That may be wafting through the air from a dining room vent…
The terminal iconic, and the music so sublime…
We see delighted travelers…having a GRAND OLD TIME! 🎹
To us New Yorkers, it’ll always be Grand Central Station. Period. Even though we know it’s really Grand Central Terminal, https://tinyurl.com/rf467err it just doesn’t matter. We New Yorkers are stubbornly set in our ways, and that’s just the way it is. But no matter what you call her, she’s a glorious building of GRAND stature that presides over the central part of New York City….An iconic, classic landmark uncovering a wealth of history and grandeur and known for making wonderful New York City memories…Trust me, I know of what I speak…
So today, we’re changing things up a bit. While all of our words are still tried and true, today we do have two repeat anagrams…DYIGD from 10/22/13, and GISTED from 04/26/10. And it was CANOLA that had 3 of the Early Birds cooked…and I think it may have been because of the double A as a lead in. But when it came to the solve, and the mention of “NYC’s Train Station Terminal”? We were all easily on the right track…Seeing all those smiling faces? Enjoying themselves so much that they were willing to miss their train?….The people had a GRAND OLD TIME!
And our cartoon’s a GRAND one too. The pianist, concentrating deeply, with his tongue sticking out, and a NY Yankee cap in view…And it’s so TOCK, I mean chock full of clues…The iconic clock…alluding to TIME, the GRAND Piano, the dialogue…”It’s GREAT, (Grand), and “It’s getting “late”, (Time)…so many hints, HYDAN in TRAIN sight! A plethora of wealth, worthy of Grand Central itself! And imagine standing there hearing the beautiful music echoing throughout Vanderbilt Hall? https://tinyurl.com/3e9aa2wm It’s RAILy a wonderful experience…
So, There you have it Folks, Done. Have a great day. Be well, stay safe…and I’ll leave you with a little piano humor…Have you heard about the pianist who left a message for his wife? Gone Chopin, have Liszt, Bach in a Minuet… And that’s my KEY to leave…🎹🙋🏻♀️
🌽 Expecting to have a GRAND OLD TIME, the mood turned from GIDDY to somber when two of the MINOR children became ill after being unable to DIGEST the CANOLA oil …🌽
⚾️ The playoffs in the MINOR leagues, and things were going well,
But one Coach thought the other team too GIDDY…he could tell…
That something odd was going on…he just could not DIGEST,
How badly his team looked out there…despite doing their best
CANOLA oil discovered…and the spitball with its slime…
Of course was deemed illegal…ending that team’s GRAND OLD TIME…⚾️
CANOLA got me. Studying the cartoon dialog got me to the solution.
Fun J.
Tomorrow may be different….
Canola had some of the guys blinking too…Masterfully anagrammed…Have a good night, Mig. 🎹🙋🏻♀️
I’m with ya Mig , I couldn’t DIGEST the CANOLA oil , I was so GIDDY about the GRAND piano, one of favorite musical instruments ! There were so many famous great musicians that could tickle the ivory in a wonderful way, like Paul McArtney with 🎼 Let it be 🎶. And my favorite 🎶 Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen ,who played the same GRAND Piano , Paul McArtney wrote Hey Jude 🎼 this jumble was major good time , not MINOR ! Ok this OLD TIMEr is ready to hit the keys ! Whoops , I mean sack ! Goodnight everyone! Have a great weekend ! GO BROWNS !!
Goodnight, Jim…pleasant dreams! 🎹🙋🏻♀️
Good morning. I was stuck on CANOLA so I went to the cartoon answer and had me a blind solve. After putting down the letters and seeing the three letters I needed for a complete solve it finally clicked. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.
Hoping you stay well and safe too, Paul. Have a great day. 🎹🙋🏻♀️
Had no clue to Jumble puzzle until I stopped and put on my thinking cap. After only a few minutes, the word GRAND came into view, followed by a blind solve. Like others, that helped because I had to back in CANOLA. Will go back and look at the name on the piano. I’ve always enjoyed those pianos in public places…and will stop to play a tune. I’ll usually do “The Way You Look Tonight”.
Thinking cap! 👏🏻👏🏻! Good Morning, Terry. Looks like Canola’s definitely doing some damage today. And you’ll need to look real closely, but it definitely says Jumble! Enjoy your day, Terry! 🎹🙋🏻♀️
This jumble is definitely for Angela, the home town girl. Reminds me of the late-night matches at the US Open tennis when we wondered if the trains and subway would till be running at 2 a.m!
Though the pianist made them feel eLATEd
It was the time of day they debated
Should they linger to hear
Sweet sounds for the ear
Or bolt for the train at the gate?!
Hi Helen. NY to the core! 😉🙋🏻♀️
🎹 At Grand Central where you’ll board a train.
While you wait there’s a lovely refrain…
Coming from the Steinway,
People say, “What the hey…
Let’s stay here..till the music does wane”…🎹
🚊Hustle, bustle is what people do,
As they rush in the terminal through…
Then they stop when they hear,
Sounds so lovely and clear…
And their schedule they’ll work anew…🚊
🎹 Midst the cavernous Vanderbilt Hall,
We see people too willing to stall…
‘Cause from talented hands,
Comes forth music so grand…
That we see it can easily enthrall 🎹
🎹 Most New Yorkers don’t stop on a dime,
For all day it’s that old upward climb…
But for something like this,
They give in to the bliss…
Ending up having a grand old time! 🎹
🎹 While the terminal’s something to see,
Most New Yorkers suffer the ennui…
But the ivory’s sounds,
Cause them def to slow down…
And to top it all off…it’s for free! 🎹
I am in good company having been stumped by canola, but after looking that up and being familiar w the Grand Central Station and its Grand Piano, the cartoon solution was a quick solve.A former president of WIU was a theater man from NYC,so he organized annual Broadway trips to NYC,which we were lucky enough to participate in several times,so as I said,I was familiar with, and had fond memories of Grand Central Station.
Good Morning, Professor. Kudos on the solve! …How I miss Broadway..😢 Hope you’re enjoying your day. Be well and stay safe out there…🎹😂
Hi Everyone – I had to back into Canola, though I’ve seen it before. Grand wasn’t hard for me because I’ve been inside that station many times. I remember when Jackie Kennedy Onassis and other preservationists fought to save it from developers. Loved your post, Angela.
Good Morning, Caroline. Tk you…And it looks like Canola’s a landslide! Have a good one. Enjoy! 🚊🙋🏻♀️
One more vote here for canola. Had to resort to paper and pencil to figure it out. Cartoon answer played out nicely so that wasn’t a problem. Have only been to Grand Central Station once but it is indeed, GRAND!! Wishing all of you a good day.
I didn’t think Canola would pose such a problem…but it’s proving to be a killer today. And yes, Grand Central is truly beautiful…Enjoy your day, Betty. Be well and stay safe…🚊🙋🏻♀️
Although CANOLA took a little more time than the other words, it wasn’t that difficult. However, the final answer took some effort. I first saw note or noted, then later, train and others. I finally saw TIME, and quickly got the rest.
Kudos for sticking with it, Dennis. 👏🏻👏🏻! Hope your day’s going well…🎹🙋🏻♀️
