Good Morning, Everyone..I hope this finds you well…
⏱ IT’S ABOUT TIME WE KNOW WHO’S WRITE HERE ⏱
🎶 Does anybody really know WHAT TIME it is (I don’t)…Does anybody really care (care about TIME)…”Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is”? – Chicago 1969 https://tinyurl.com/2a9ezf4t
📚It was the final INNING, and I went back to my book…
But then a GROUND ball hit so hard…I had to take a look…
It shot off like a DISCUS, but then it seemed to FASTEN,
Itself into the fielder’s glove…the throw… like an assassin…
But anyway, back to the book, which is this puzzle’s theme…
It’s Sci-fi which most ‘oft times isn’t my book crop’s main cream…
I’ll read it but I won’t INDUCT it in my normal realm…
I’m more into reality…and Sci-fi overwhelms…
So I sat with my TEACUP, (tea’s become a new addiction)…
And then I turned to this puzzle …To deal with SCIENCE “FRICTION”📚
So, Let me go on record stating that I’m not the biggest Science fan…Fiction or not. TBT, I usually suffer enough angst dealing with basic reality, so tripping the LIGHT fantastic isn’t exactly my cup of tea. But here we are today…So I’ll just take a PAGE out of Showbiz’s handBOOK…and say…”The show must go on”…
Today’s words bring us nothing new to WRITE home about…we’ve READ them all in past puzzles…and I did come across two repeat anagrams…CAPUTE, (which if I’m forced to hear one more Truman Capote joke, it might cause me to commit “Murder in Cold Blood”), from November 2019, and IGNNNI, from June of 2018. It’s not often that an anagram with three of the same consonants in a row comes ACROSS our PLATE, but here it is. And we also have two “I” words today…rare also…As for the Early Birds? Trust me, there’s not enough TIME…Not that they didn’t READ the words well, they did…But for some reason this morning? They all seemed to take a NOVEL approach to solving. Every word brought up some kind of inane comment,…I was like…”Whoa, can we just close the CHAPTER on this nonsense and move on”? Jeez…Anyway, they had no trouble with the words, nor the solve….Despite all the FRICTION…
OK. I’m thinking a Talk Show debate. Two competitive authors, (with obviously too much TIME on their hands), and a harried-looking Host. The argument? Einstein’s Theory of Relativity https://tinyurl.com/2evssn4p vs the Butterfly Effect. https://tinyurl.com/p9jk2c7c And just like these two, feel free to argue amongst yourselves, because: 1 – we have neither the TIME nor SPACE here, and 2- this is so out of my realm. Let’s face it, Folks…we all have our fortes, our LIMITS…be they OUTER or not…and I’m definitely not the one to shed any LIGHT on this subject…But what it all boils down to? This Time Travel argument? It’s SCIENCE “FRICTION”! Kudos, David…Definitely well-WRITTEN!
Jeff’s Gems? First off, I’ll go on record to say that we’re seeing a lot more dialogue than usual…which I’m sure tends to CRAMp Jeff’s style. Yet, he’s still managed to set the stage quite well. The “Einstein” Book…”Time & Again” showing two connecting clocks. Brilliant! The competing author’s book, “Speed of Light”, showing two connecting people. No Butterfly…On the Host’s lapel, there may be a pin of some kind…or maybe it’s just a microphone…And there’s a single coffee mug. But it’s the angry looks on the authors’ faces, and the one of desperation on the host’s that DREW me in. So…are these characters patterned after “real” people…or are the FICTITIOUS? And is it all a work of FICTION? You be the judge..
So, There you have it, Folks…Done. Have a good one. Be well, stay safe, and I’ll leave you with this… If I’m being subjective, IMO, the greatest Sci-fi show of all time is Dr. Who….If I’m being objective, it’s Dr. Whom…As I said Folks…we all have our forte…📚🙋🏻♀️
⚾️ While waiting for the meeting of the Biology debate team, “SCIENCE FRICTION”, to begin, the topic turned to Baseball…who the BBWAA should INDUCT next, who really pitched the most perfect INNING, who consistently fielded GROUND balls the best, etc…but when it turned heated…one member got up to FASTEN his jacket to leave, and turned over his TEACUP, which sent its saucer flying like a DISCUS…⚾️
🤦🏻♂️ The flyer read…”Come join us Tuesday night, where we’ll DISCUS,
The latest of the FASTEN trends…but we won’t get viscous…
We’ll INDUCT the new members, they’ll start from the GROUND up,
There’ll be some light libation served, in coffee and TEACUPs…”
The head of the committee took one look and had to groan,
He said to those who wrote it up…”Now this I do bemoan…
It’s past the final INNING here, the printing’s all been done,
But don’t you see the errors made? Of you all…not a one?
It’s “Discuss” and it’s “Fashion”, and it’s “Vicious”…plus poor diction…
This just won’t do…it’s reading like a work of SCIENCE FICTION! 🤦🏻♂️
Harder for me this Sunday, but I got most of the anagrams and was lost with the answer. Too many letters and the clues did not help me.
Oh well…..
Onward to a new week!
Dodgers have been winning like the World Champs they are…. Let’s go BLUE!!!!
The clues were there…just buried a little deeper than usual. Definitely a clever one though…Have a good day, Mig. Stay safe out there…📚🙋🏻♀️
This is a good one and with more time! I could refine the limerick a bit but as time is of the essence (no used posting late in the day, you have to be an early bird for this. I should try setting a timer) so in the few minutes it took me to conjure up this, I’ll just think for a couple of seconds more before sending.
Angela I know you and I are having the time of our lives with these limericks, so I’m timing out to let you take over. Keep moving forward!!
The sci-fi authors were given to yell
Are they Asimov, Gabaldon and Wells?
Travelling forward or back
Will they have the same impact?
I guess only time will tell!
Hi Helen…Please don’t ever worry about time. We’re open 24/7 here, so you can feel free to post whenever you’d like. And as far as having fun with these, yes, Limericks are fun. But they’re not all that much fun without the one-on-one, the give and take. As for today? I didn’t touch the Science angle at all…I stuck with the author’s behavior…And TBT? I’m too burnt out to backtrack. Between storms all night, and the hurricane approaching, I’m exhausted…mentally and physically. So as much as I applaud yours, I can’t follow it today. But this is one of what I wrote up this morning…Wishing you a great day, Helen….And stay safe out there…📚🙋🏻♀️
🤦🏻♂️The host thinks…”Wow, this is a scene,
These authors are getting quite mean…
I just thought we’d discuss,
But they’re making a fuss…
And it’s all playing out on the screen”! 🤦🏻♂️
Very nicely done Sunday Jumble….just hard enough to be a real brain teaser…Not impossible but needed max brain waves working on all cylinders. Not a blind solve for sure, and when letters presented themselves, I saw IRONIC wafting thru the selection, but that made no sense. So I thought and thought and thought…to no end, when I finally pounced upon FICTION. Ergo, saw the SCIENCE with an R left over and that finally settled it. Don’t recognize the song…but have to say there are so many TIME songs out there…Time After Time and I Didn’t Know What Time it Was from Pal Joey, just to name a few. Nice post Angela. See you all Monday
Hi Terry. Tk you. Time songs? A plethora, right? And all good ones too. Way too many to mention. But I based mine on the questionable writings of the two books. (Plus it just started playing)…😉 And yes, I agree…it’s a very well done puzzle today…These guys never cease to amaze me. Have a good one, Terry. Stay safe…📚🙋🏻♀️
Back from Golf and now settling down for the evening….Angela, listened to your song…really cool; hadn’t heard in a long time. And BTW, kind of sounds like that song that goes…”My baby takes the morning train, he …” Remember?
Hey, Terry. Of course, I definitely remember that song, Sheena Easton. https://tinyurl.com/76csjybc “Morning Train”…But if I’m not mistaken, I think you mentioned that you’re a pianist? …This is the full version of the Chicago song, with the piano intro. You may enjoy it…🙋🏻♀️
Teacup took lots of jumbling on paper. My first thought for the answer was something related to time travel, but after giving up on that, I found Fiction and the rest. I don’t read science fiction, but like Betty, I did love “The Twilight Zone” as a kid.
Got a kick out of Capute/Capote and your joke at the end, Angela.
Good Morning, Caroline…LOL! Thank you…I’ll laugh about it now, but I think I’ve had enough of Mr Capote to last me a lifetime. They were relentless! 🤦🏻♀️ “Answered Prayers” 😉 was my thought when they finally quit. And my closing? 😂 Tks again, I’m glad you enjoyed it. (I had to explain it to 3 of the Early Birds! It’s just been one of those days). 🤷🏻♀️…Hoping Henri doesn’t cause you any grief, Caroline. Be well and stay safe…📚🙋🏻♀️
Good morning. Got the words but failed on the cartoon answer. Enjoyed the song choice. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.
Thanks, Paul. Hoping you’re well and safe too. 📚🙋🏻♀️
⚾️ Having seen upteen puzzles over the years featuring the “Jumble Baseball Team”, I found it refreshing today to see a new twist on it. Hopefully we’ll see more of these girls in the future! 🙋🏻♀️ https://tinyurl.com/33mnx85z
Good mental workout this morning. Like Caroline, I had to resort to paper and pencil to figure out teacup which doesn’t seem like it should have been that difficult. Had to study the cartoon answer for a bit and finally figured that the second word would end in “tion” also thought “competitive” was a significant clue which let me to “friction”. Other than Twilight Zone, I’m at a loss when it comes to science fiction. Whatever your time zone, wishing you good travels today.
Good going on the solve, Betty…it’s a clever one…And you, Caroline and I make the ideal trio. The sci-fi begins and ends with The Twilight Zone. From my time zone to yours…hope it’s a good one. Stay safe out there…📚🙋🏻♀️
Anagrams came quickly, especially for a Sunday, but the cartoon got me.
Sunday’s can be like that, Prof. I’m sure you’ll fare better tomorrow. Have a good night…📚🙋🏻♀️
