Good Morning, Everyone. I hope this finds you well…
💦OH NO! No H2O? I think I’ll send a GET WELL SOON Card 💦
🎶 My bills are all due and the baby needs shoes and I’M BUSTED…Cotton is down to a quarter a pound, but I’M BUSTED…I got a cow that went dry and a hen that won’t lay…A big stack of bills that gets bigger each day…The county’s gonna haul my belongings away cause I’M BUSTED…🎶 “Busted” – Mr Ray Charles 1963 https://tinyurl.com/5936werm
💸 Perhaps pandemic woes they suffered, and as DISMAL as it is,
They failed to reach their QUOTA…and it’s time to close the biz…
Just like a time-worn DOILY, their ZENITH came and went,
And now they’re facing closure…despite the money spent
They had a good run and they tried, but too long they had waited…
“Water under the bridge’, they said…’it’s all been LIQUIDATED”…💸
Water…The inorganic, transparent, tasteless, odorless, and nearly colorless chemical substance, which is vital for all known forms of life…even though it provides no calories or organic nutrients…But just try making a good pizza without it…
So, while we’ve no new words this morning, we do have new anagrams. And while they’re all masterfully scrambled, the Early Birds took one look, DRANK it all in…and easily got all four. As for the solve? An easy, breezy one…and they POURED over it for just a second…
Today we find ourselves on the warehouse floor of the Molan Springs Bottled Water Company…going out of business. And with financial problems all across the country, it’s become something we’ve seen one time too many recently…so I guess we have another CASE of the Jumble’s art imitating life…Anyway, as a member of either the old or new management is seen pushing a platform dolly laden with the outgoing cases of water, three employees stand by watching…DROWNING their sorrows. Seemingly unaware as to how the shutdown would be handled, they seem surprised to learn that whatever’s left of the inventory is being LIQUIDATED. https://tinyurl.com/fnhxhz9n WATER you gonna do? Obviously you get deep in debt, you’re dead in the WATER…Cry me a river, right?
Jeff’s Gems? The panel’s pretty much cut and DRY, but I do like the company’s name, a cute take on Poland Spring, and the line of dialogue…”taking every last DROP”, is whimsically clever. So, I’ll DRINK to that…
So, There you have it Folks, Done. Have a good one. Be WELL, stay safe, and I’ll leave you with a good TAP, I mean tip…If things have you feeling a little blue lately, try drinking a gallon of water before going to sleep. That’ll give you a good reason to get up in the morning…💦🙋🏻♀️
We have had 3 days in a row with many letter solutions. Reading the dialogue and looking at the cartoon I got this one fast! None of the anagrams made me weepy.
Interesting week
Hey Mig. I agree, it was a great set up. Here’s to tomorrow…another good one! Enjoy your day, Mig! 💦🙋🏻♀️
° The puzzle of 09/11/13: The question…”When the bottled water company went bankrupt, it’s stock was…” The solve? LIQUIDATED
° The puzzle of 10/02/19: The question..”They found an inventory of old sparkling water, and decided it should be…” The solve? LIQUIDATED https://tinyurl.com/txux6n34
🤦🏻♂️ Failing to reach QUOTA for another month, they knew that the remaining DOILY inventory needed to be LIQUIDATED, and thoughts of the loss of their ZENITH days brought a DISMAL pall over the employees…🤦🏻♂️
👏🏻👏🏻 They almost reached their QUOTA, the ZENITH they strove for,
And nothing’s looking DISMAL like it once had looked before
The DOILY biz was picking up…no longer so ill-fated…
And they were happy there would be no supply LIQUIDATED! 👏🏻👏🏻
Instant blind solve today. Haven’t thought of doilies in a long while. My grandmother used to make them and give them as gifts.
Good Morning, Don. Same here. My cousins and I still have some that my Grandmother made. Sadly, I think it’s a lost art. And yes, an easy, breezy puzzle today. Have a good one, Don. Enjoy! 💦🙋🏻♀️
My mother and her sisters had doilies on their end tables frequently.
They were very commonplace years ago, Professor, I think everyone had them on display in their homes. I’m glad we kept all of the ones that were found in my Mother’s and Grandmother’s belongings. Some of them go as far back as our Great-Great Grandmother. And they’re all so beautiful hand made. 🧵🪡🙋🏻♀️
In a business world known to be fickle
With profit as low as a nickel
The workers did gawp
As they gulped the last drop
As sales slowed down to a trickle!
Hi Helen…I think you’ll get a laugh at one of my efforts this morning…😉. We definitely were on the same wavelength! Wishing you a great day…🙋🏻♀️
💸 Running businesses oft times is fickle,
And you may rub a dime and a nickel…
They’re down to their last drop,
But just how did things flop?
And the money now slow to a trickle? 💸
🤷🏻♀️I must say it does make me wonder,
What happened here…what was the blunder?
How’d water not sell,
When it’s been hot as hell…
So just how did this business go under? 🤷🏻♀️
That’s really an uncanny similarity in your first limerick Angela. I had a list of words rhyming with trickle and eliminated the words pickle and tickle as I could not make a connection with anything watery, so was left with just trickle/nickel/fickle, words that could be connected. That way, I wasn’t watering down the impact of the limerick.
IKR? Too funny…but understandable, since I did the same, went with trickle, trying to keep with the “last drop” reference. And I did write one using pickle! 😂 …”Watering” down? LOL! 💦🙋🏻♀️
Good morning. No blind solve but I was able to get both parts with very little trouble. Really loved your song choice Angela. And as for you and Helen, you girls bring smiles every day. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.
Good Morning, Brooklyn. Thank you…You know me, whatever first pops into my head! And besides, I do love listening to him…so I’m glad you enjoyed it. The limericks? LOL! Tks again. They’re always fun to play with…Kudos on the solve…and have a great day, Paul. Wishing you stay well and safe out there too…💦🙋🏻♀️
Happy Saturday everyone! MOLAN SPRINGS is actually a Seinfeld reference. In the episode, Elaine oversees a merger meeting between two bottled water companies — Morgan Springs and Poland Creek. When they tell her the new name of the company will be MOLAND SPRINGS, she laughs at the idea and almost blows the deal!
👏🏻👏🏻! 🙋🏻♀️
I’ve seen every Seinfeld multiple times and that episode is a good one!
They all were. I think the only one that wasn’t all that great was the finale. It just didn’t live up to all the hype…I was left feeling that there should have been more…🤷🏻♀️
As with other solvers, I sometimes fret when seeing one long word puzzle…especially with quotes. but today, unlike yesterday, managed a blind solve…and quick anagrams. Up early due to a little jet lag…but am always up for the Jumble Challenge, no matter what time of day. See you tomorrow.
Hey Terry. Agreed…Definitely an easy one today. Have a good one, and safe travels…💦🙋🏻♀️
I got it all very easy 100yr old lady el .
Way to go, Eleanor. 👏🏻👏🏻! Be well, stay safe…and it’s always nice to see you here. God bless…💦🙋🏻♀️
An easy Monday level puzzle to finish up the week and the month. No problem w the anagrams, and a blind obvious solve of the puzzle.Enjoy the cooler weekend.
Ending the month…I hadn’t thought of that, Prof. July seems to have flown by….The week…I take Sunday as the end of that. And yes, a very easy puzzle. Here’s to tomorrow’s…A good one, indeed! And this cooler weather? Definitely a welcomed respite! It don’t get any better than this. Enjoy your day, Professor! 💦🙋🏻♀️
Easy breezy puzzle for a Saturday. Everything fell into place nicely. Wishing all of you a good day.
Definitely cute and clever, as always. Wishing you a good day too, Betty. Enjoy! 💦🙋🏻♀️
