Good Morning, Everyone… 🥇 FOSBURY FLOP…AROUND THE CLOCK 🥇
🎶 I get UP and nothin’ gets me DOWN…You got it tough, I’ve seen the TOUGHEST AROUND.…And I know, Baby, just how you feel…You got to roll with the punches and get to what’s real… Might as well JUMP…Go ahead and JUMP…🎶 “Jump” – Van Halen 1984 https://tinyurl.com/432p2ccx
🥇 Where practice does make perfect, sometimes CHAOS may ensue,
You push yourself to be the best, stay with it all day through…
You’re on the VERGE of near collapse, it’s VIABLE to say,
And yet you shun those DARKER thoughts, and decide that you’ll stay
This high jumper works very hard…whips herself into fever…
And that’s why she’s victorious…a def OVER ACHIEVER! 🥇
So…After all this time, we definitely know how the Jumble rolls. Sometimes art imitates life, and sometimes art is just that…art. And today’s featured Jumble character? Well, it’s UP IN THE AIR for me. Full disclosure? I’m not UP on High Jumpers, or Gymnasts or Vaulters or the like, so it’s just a LEAP of faith on my part, but I’ll go with Vashti Cunningham. https://tinyurl.com/35jw6txd And yes, of course I know of America’s Sweetheart, Simone Biles, https://tinyurl.com/e8356p7z but again, I just don’t want to JUMP to conclusions. So, if I’m wrong, and our High Jumper turns out to be neither of the two I’ve mentioned, and just a figment of Jeff’s imagination? Well then, I’ll take the FALL. Trust me, I’ve OVERcome worse…
Ok, our words. Starting off the weekend just as we did last Saturday, we’re not facing any new challenges this morning. Dealing with all old favorites, it was only Viable that caused one Early Bird to blink…and I must say, it is a great anagram. And as far as re-RUNS go, REVEG graced our pages back on July 7th, 2014. (7-7 and just shy of 7 years ago…You know me, Folks…I like the quirkiness of things like this)…And the solve? Suffice to say, to a man, the Early Birds got OVER in LEAPS and BOUNDS…
Our cartoon? Timely, with the Olympic Trials taking place. But I guess I pretty much went OVER it up TOP. A dedicated, driven High Jumper, shown practicing her heart out – LONG after her fellow athletes have called it a day. And all the while, her trainer and another GYM-Dandy discuss her stamina and perseverance…and how she’s ACHIEVED her personal best today…And it’s the look on our girl’s face as she clears the bar that says it all. She’s determined to get OVER any competition, and be TOP in her field…She’s an OVER ACHIEVER…Oh, and at back, a silhouetted figure practicing pole vaulting.
So, There you have it Folks, Done! Have a great day. Be well, stay safe, and keep raising that bar…There’s always a new HEIGHT to reach in life…🥇🙋🏻♀️
🤷🏻♂️ Always known to be an OVER ACHIEVER, he felt he was on the VERGE of quitting, after seeing the DARKER side of his teammates…and looked to find a VIABLE excuse for the CHAOS they caused…🤷🏻♂️
🤷🏻♀️ The crowd had turned to CHAOS, as the skies grew DARKER still,
And she was on the VERGE of leaving, albeit ‘gainst her will…
A VIABLE reason to stay, would make her a believer…
But how things look to her right now? She’d be no OVER ACHIEVER! 🤷🏻♀️
Not at all a piece of cake but solvable for me!
I studied the cartoon and got the solution quickly. The anagrams weren’t as easy for me but I got them.
It was a cooler day in SoCal today. Low nineties. 120 in Palm Springs. I know it will get hotter and the fires will fire up.
Hey Mig…Be careful out there with this weather. Wishing you luck. Have a good one. 🥇🙋🏻♀️
I read about Lake Mead…is that also a worry for you??? Dryness and no water??? I pray for all of you!
Got an early jump on the puzzle today, but not as early as some it seems. The bar was not set too high, so no records set.
Hi Helen. LOL! 👏🏻👏🏻 Yes, I agree…the bar wasn’t set all that high this morning…An easy one, but clever as always. Enjoy your day! 🥇🙋🏻♀️
Thank you Angela. It is a lovely day here (S. Ontario) The word scrambles make an excellent activity for advanced learners of English as a Second Language, helping them to unscramble and learn less frequently used words and move on to idiomatic English.
You’re very welcome, Helen. And yes, the Jumble is a good tool to aid in learning the language. Although some of puns may sometimes throw one a bit off track…But as far as the idioms go? You’re definitely in the right place! Enjoy your lovely weather Helen, and have a wonderful day! 🥇🙋🏻♀️
Good morning. Chaos took me the longest to get therefore it’s my choice for hardest word. The cartoon answer also took some time but I achieved success. Angela,I actually ended your video song choice before it was done. The guy annoyed the heck out of me. He really is full of himself. He gives you the impression he’s Gods gift to man or women. 👎 down for me. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.
Good Morning, Paul. Glad you “achieved” success! 👏🏻👏🏻 As for the music?…Keeping in mind that it was the 80’s? There was a whole lot of that “Hey, look at me” going around. What’re ya gonna do? Sign of the times…Anyway, thumbs down 2 days in a row now? 😉…Thank God I know you’ll enjoy what I chose for tomorrow…or I might start taking it personal! 😉 Have a good one, Paul. Be well and stay safe! 🥇🙋🏻♀️
Saw the V in VERGE and knowing voweled word started answer… immediately thought AVID could be part of solution. My Blind Solver champ girlfriend chose better approach with OVER (of course…. why didn’t I think of that)… and puzzle then solved easily. Anagrams a Saturday Snap !!
Good Morning, Terry…And I guess we can say she got OVER, didn’t she? And I agree, a Saturday Snap! Wishing you both a tip-TOP day, Terry. Enjoy! 🥇🙋🏻♀️
Nearly an instant solve for the anagrams and cartoon w only a brief pause on chaos.A note on the high jump, when my son,Mark, was in HS,he went to a track practice to watch his then girl friend.Mark had been a starter on the baseball, basketball, and football teams, but had not done track. The coach knew he could jump from his dunking the basketball,so suggested he try the high jump,He then ran up to the 6ft high bar and jumped over it.Long story short,he joined the team and set the HS high jump record at 6ft 7 in., in a meet at WIU.
I like the LONG story short reference! 😉 6’ 7” is a Longggg way to jump😂! Thanks for sharing, Professor! Have a good one…Enjoy! 🥇🙋🏻♀️
Over easy this morning. Anagrams and cartoon answer jumped right into place. Speaking of Simone Biles, Angela, 60 Minutes did a segment about her last week I think. She is just a phenomenal athlete – super human. I look forward to watching her in the upcoming Olympics. Wishing all of you a good Saturday.
Over easy? Are you EGGing us on? 😉 Good Morning, Betty! And yes, it all did JUMP right into place! You’re definitely at the TOP of your game this morning! 👏🏻👏🏻 As for Simone, yes, I did see it. And I have to agree, she’s definitely a little powerhouse…I find myself cringing at some of what she attempts…Amazing falls short…no pun intended, when it comes to her…And wishing you a good Saturday too, Betty. Enjoy! 🥇🙋🏻♀️
Hi all – Got this all pretty quickly today. I had a feeling the double-letter trick wouldn’t apply to the last word, and it didn’t, and it took me a couple of jumbles. Didn’t have an idea for the answer, but I saw it as soon as I looked at the letters.
Good wishes to everyone.
“Fosbury Flop” was the first thing that came into my mind also Angela!
And ah yes, David Lee Roth didn’t lack for self-confidence or ego. He had no use for the rock press, and I had to laugh at one of his quotes – “Most rock critics like Elvis Costello because most rock critics *look* like Elvis Costello.”
“Choosing a DARKER color scheme for the Halloween decoration on his sidewalk VERGE made it a VIABLE choice for the neighbors and avoided the CHAOS of a notice from the homeowner’s association.”
Ah, the mediocrity is alive and well! 😂 And Roth? Definitely a legend in his own mind…Have a great day, Steve. Enjoy, 🥇🙋🏻♀️
Like most of the puzzles this week, two of the jumbles took some effort (CHAOS and VIABLE), but the answer came quickly-I saw acheive and that led to it.
The Clippers were amazing last night! On to play Phoenix tomorrow.
Hey Dennis…The solve was a giveaway, even though a word or two seem to be getting people. Enjoy your day, Dennis. Stay well! 🥇😂
Nothing chaotic in this jumble nor overly hard. Beautiful lazy day in my backyard with a pleasant warm breezy sunny day. Keep thinking of all the people suffering the heat and the lack of water around lake Mead. 2021 has not been a good year so far.

My thoughts and prayers are with them too, Christian. 🙏🏻🙋🏻♀️
