I’m always sticking them somewhere…more often than I’m not…
But here today it’s Hyphen, who’s kicking up the dust,
He’s not speaking so SOFTLY about what he feel’s a must…
His MANLY-sounding voice we hear, as he tells his board mate
His fear of being left out…on the BEACH…he dreads the fate…
With words he’s usually JOVIAL, but now he’s feeling tense,
But + and =‘s telling him…”Relax”…and that makes sense
Here’s hoping Hyphen gets in – and there’ll be no word mayhem…
Guy’s desperate for acceptance…he’s just dying to JOIN THEM! ➖
It’s always amusing when the Jumble gives us these TYPES of puzzles, don’t you think? There’s a certain SYMBOLism to it all…And even though I was so sure that we’d seen one quite recently, the only ones I seem to be able to PUT MY FINGER ON are from 2018…September https://tinyurl.com/2acrd2uu and October https://tinyurl.com/sthe7xpz. Yet, I’m thinking that can’t be WRITE, can it?…So if I get a chance, I’ll keep PECKING away to see if something more recent shows up. But I swear, I wish I knew the KEY to being more organized…I definitely need to TAP into a better filing system…
So…Nothing new to write home about as far as our words go today…and two of the anagrams have previously graced our pages: CABHE in 2016, and VOLIJA in 2013. And it was only SOFTLY that was hard to decipher for one Early Birds. Aside from that, he was good to go with the others…and happy to JOIN THEM in an easy, breezy solve…
Our cartoon today – A close-up of a man, (with a 5 o’clock shadow), sitting at a rather odd-looking Keyboard, (which isn’t germane to our solve…so I’ll just DASH over it). We see a Hyphen losing his composure, concerned that he’s not being included in whatever’s being composed. But his neighbor, the PLUS/EQUAL Key, knowing that his worrying just doesn’t ADD UP, is telling him to chill..since as the saying goes…”There’s no use crying over SPLIT milk..”, or something like that. Anyway, the bottom LINE? The Hyphen, seeing words being typed? He just wants to do what he does best…He wants to…JOIN THEM! PERIOD…end of story!
So…There you have it Folks, Done! But before I go, I’m wondering if anyone else remembers a conversation we had here a while back about Hyphens – When to use them and when not. I’m the worst when it comes to punctuation, and I’ll be the first to admit it. But TBT? Sometimes I get such guilty pleasure putting them where they don’t belong. I know it’s not WRITE, but I just can’t help myself. Let’s face it…There’s a THIN LINE between “Obsessive” and “Compulsive”…and it’s a HYPHEN! So I guess it’s just that little DASH of the devil in me! Ok…Bye-Bye! ➖🙋🏻♀️
💪🏻 Usually a very JOVIAL sort, this day he sat on the BEACH noticing all the MANLY-looking guys, and couldn’t help but wistfully whisper SOFTLY to himself, that gone are the days when he could JOIN THEM…💪🏻

Looked at puzzle and thought it must be XXXX THEM, but didn’t figure out that first word until doing easily solved anagrams….my batting average went down this week !!! Very clever puzzle answer, I might add.

With the hyphen crying out for help, I am surprised the answer did not have a hyphen in it: JOIN-THEM. The hyphen reminds me of my kitty if I don’t feed her. This Jumble has a shadow solution, namely TIME JOHN. I.e., the person at the keys is named John, and the hyphen key is timing John’s actions on the keys. John needs to run his anti-malware program – there could be a keylogger on his computer. I notice they chose BEACH as a word before Memorial Day weekend, and they made reference to Jupiter with the last word, JOVIAL. A guy standing MANLY on the BEACH SOFTLY being JOVIAL. Which beach? Probably Jupiter Beach in Florida.

On this Memorial Day weekend the Manly Blue Angels were to perform their flying skills at the Beach but the Jovial crowd was informed that the approaching Softly cumulus clouds brought rain behind it and the air show was cancelled so we should all Join Them and sing “God Bless America”.
