  1. Good Morning, Everyone…. ⚾️ HAND IN GLOVE…BROTHERLY LOVE? ⚾️

🎶 Papa told Willie “You’ll ruin my home…You and that HAND JIVE has got to go”…Willie said “Papa don’t put me down…Been doin’ that HAND JIVE all over town”…HAND JIVE, HAND JIVE…HAND JIVE… doin’ that crazy HAND JIVE…🎶 “Willie & The Hand Jive” – Johnny Otis 1958 https://tinyurl.com/dlqotrd5

⚾️ So Sis thinks that she’s got a crown…big brother, he’s quite LIVID,
He went to GATHER all his gear…‘cept one thing wasn’t vivid…
He’s playing for the Jumble Jewels, the NAVAL Nauts against,
And when his glove he couldn’t find…he got a tad incensed
But sure enough where was his mitt? Upon his sisters tête..
She took it sans permission…did a sleight-of-hand ROTATE
And now that he’s located it, will things be back in clover?
Ball’s in the air on this one…As he tells her…HAND IT OVER! ⚾️

…(To the tune of “Take Me Out to the Ball Game”)…🎶Take me out to the ball game…Wait, I can’t find my glove…Why’s it not here with my other stuff?…Who took the glove that I love so much?… Take me out to the ball game, if I don’t find it I’m dead…’Cause it’s one, two, three strikes she’s out…Why’s it on her head? …🎶 Hmm. Good question, right? But I digress…

So…Keeping our winning streak going, today once again, we’re fielding old favorites. But, from what I can see at my position, David has pitched us three rookie anagrams. The sole old timer in the game? VANLA…in play on April 1st, 2019. https://tinyurl.com/2loknur6 And Naval’s an old salt…I found it a few times going back…going back…but it’s not outta here yet! And the word the Early Birds bobbled? ROTATE…they had to toss that one around a few times before it hit home…Ok…Now let’s play ball!

With pitchers and catchers having reported for Spring training Wednesday, it looks like our Jumble Guys are already stepping up to the plate. Because today we’re seeing our first Baseball puzzle of the season…And we find ourselves in the bedroom of our ace character Willie’s little sister, who I’ll call Diamond. It seems that Diamond’s name has gone to her head…(in more ways than one)! …since she thinks she’s a gem…You know the type, right? Pampered, spoiled kid sister. Nobody ever balking at her…she gets to walk no matter what she does…I guess it’s because of the big gap in age between her and Willie…But anyway..Poor Willie. “Looking everywhere” for his glove, and striking out, he swings over to Diamonds room…and there among the mounds of frilly things…he finds it. Diamond’s decided she’s Queen for the day, and needing a crown, she just picked it off from his gear and there she sits playing a game with her friend. Foul play, right ? And she’s stating that he “can’t have ‘HER’ crown”..So we see Willie, running behind schedule, caught in a suicide squeeze…standing there with his outstretched HAND, thinking that this time there won’t be another sacrifice on his part…I mean, of course he’d never hitter…but…Hey, he needs his glove…So it’s HAND IT OVER, and quickly…he’s got a game to catch!

And Jeffs Gems? There’s a frilly canopy bed, with frilly bedding. And on the lamp, a daisy that Jeff often draws into his cartoons when a little girl is featured. There’s the signature Jumble “J” on Willie’s cap and jersey, and he’s wearing cleats…in the house! And speaking of shoes, Diamond’s wearing what appear to her Mom’s heels. She’s seen holding a flashlight as her royal scepter, while her friend is serenading her on a tiny toy guitar. And on the floor we see a pony with a braided mane and a teddy bear. But it’s the eyebrows on both brother and sister that drew me in. The looks are angry…which makes me wonder…Did Willie get his glove…or was todays game called…because of strain? And since I got caught looking…I wish I knew…

So, There you have it Folks, Done. Have a good one…be well, stay safe, and here’s hoping we all play nice…⚾️🙋🏻‍♀️

  2. 🎖He watched the teens GATHER, looking through the NAVAL memorabilia, and became LIVID telling them to HAND IT OVER when he saw two of them ROTATE the order of the medals, while taking one…🎖

🐕 While reading NAVAL History, his dogs began to GATHER,
A little close their playing got, closer than he did rather…
And watching as they’d ROTATE, while playing with a ball,
He said they needed cut it out…and go play down the hall…
Now LIVID as one grabbed his book…of course it would be a Rover…
He’d had enough…and called out loud…”Hey, stop and HAND IT OVER”! 🐕

    Prayers for Texas. 🙏🏻

  3. Good morning. My choice for hardest word was Gather. When I started this I couldn’t think of any so I put out it aside and listened to the weather. When I returned it was like the light bulb went on and I was able to get three of them quickly. Being stuck on Gather I went to the cartoon and had a blind solve. Once I knew the three letters I needed it was a cinch. Angela thanks again for opening up the vault for this fun song. Enjoyed it as well as your post. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.

    • Good Morning, Brooklyn. I love opening up the vault..and thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed it all…And Kudos 👏🏻👏🏻on the solve! A few of my friends blinked at Gather too, altho it was Rotate that stumped the most of them. Hope you’re doing ok with the snow, we got another 5 inches…hopefully it’ll start to disappear…before another wallop comes Monday…😱. Have a good one, Paul. Be well and stay safe. ⚾️🙋🏻‍♀️

  4. Anagrams went well, but not so for the cartoon solution, which I thought would be “Give it back”,rather than hand it over.Maybe I’m suffering from grandkids withdrawal ,having not seen them since Christmas.

    • Good Morning, Professor. The clue to HAND was the Glove, and Willie’s outstretched hand was a little added bonus. And I hear ya..we’re all missing family. It’s been a pretty tough year…Hoping you’re keeping warm…Have a good one and stay well and safe…⚾️🙋🏻‍♀️

  5. Breezed right through the words and cartoon answers handily this morning. Hope all of you are staying warm and safe with all of this snowy weather.

  6. Hi all – No problem with the words despite the double letter trick not applying to the last word today. The answer was also quick; I thought HAND IT BACK, but the letters showed OVER.

I was amused to see that the glove appropriately had only three fingers.
And it may just be artistic license, but with only four strings, that instrument would probably be a toy ukulele – especially since there’s a little logo on the headstock which I can’t quite make out, but looks suspiciously like a pineapple.

Good wishes to everyone; may the storms be over soon.

Great song Angela; one of my very favorites, had the single. I knew Johnny Otis was popular around here but didn’t really realize until I just looked that he was born in the North Bay in Vallejo CA and grew up in Berkeley. His son Shuggie Otis was also popular and appeared around here, and I’m sure he played the Hand Jive a lot.

“The NAVAL cadet was LIVID when he began to GATHER from the class scuttlebutt that none of his first postings would ROTATE through any of his preferred choices.”

    • Hey Steve…I just took another look…and it does look like a tiny little pineapple. Good call…👏🏻👏🏻 As for the Hand Jive? I listen to it all the time…And I told the little ones about it a while back, and showed them this video. They loved it, and had it down pat in no time. Me? With my left/right disorientation? 🤦🏻‍♀️ I think they enjoyed my screwing it up more! 😂 It’s not as easy as it looks! 😂 Hope your days going well, Steve…Enjoy…and stay safe out there…⚾️🙋🏻‍♀️

    • Hi Eleanor. Well done! 👏🏻👏🏻So sorry to hear what you are going through. Please be well and stay safe…🙏🏻🙋🏻‍♀️

  7. Hand jive! Haven’t heard that in decades!!
TRAEHG discombobulated me….. All the other anagrams were AOK. The cartoon solution wasn’t very interesting today but it’s hard to hit a home run at every at bat……
Cold and windy in the land of LA, they just stopped the golf tournament at the Riviera Golf Course in Brentwood due to fear of falling equipment hurting the golfers and volunteers.

    • I like your baseball analogy…and you can never go wrong with a little Hand Jive! Have a good one, Mig. Be well and stay safe out there…⚾️🙋🏻‍♀️
