I don’t really know… but you get my point…

Good morning. Probably like many I failed on the word Lichen. Unable to solve it I got the answer and then went to the Dictionary for its meaning. I was totally ignorant of that word. Third looked like dirth to me at first,but after getting the other anagrams I needed the “T” from third for the second word point in the solution.I mentioned my granddaughter,Emily,the other day as being in the midst of the Texas crisis,but is still doing ok.She was on a prerecorded version of the TV show : 25 words or less yesterday,as a partner to a contestant,and mentioned her “Grandfather Charles” as she was introduced ,since she had learned about the show when she watched with me when she visited us.

Like others I paused at lichen. Kept thinking the word would either start or end with “ch” – but alas it was in the middle. Had to back into it after solving the cartoon answer. Just yesterday I was reading about lichens. They can survive very high temperatures, being frozen for long periods, and have survived in space (no atmosphere) for weeks.
Weird when things like this happen, right? Sometimes it really unnerves me! 😱 But yes, Dennis, Lichens are definitely a rugged lot! 🎋🙋🏻♀️
That’s very interesting, Dennis. Google says that Lichen first appeared on earth over 550 million years ago. That means they roughly have a 547 million year jump on humans!
Have you heard of a gentleman by the name of Paul Stamets? He’s a mycologist who has a unique theory on the relationship between fungi and all other living species on earth. His TED Talk was absolutely brilliant — if you listen to it with an open mind and are into that sort of thing. If you do watch, please keep in mind that he’s a recovering stutter so he pauses quite a bit.

Hi all – I saw POINT and guessed BESIDE, so I didn’t need the letters to get the answer, but I did have to write then down to get the last clue word. It was all Greek to me when I first saw HELLENIC, then INCLINE and CLINCH. It even took a few tries after seeing what letters I needed, so I obviously wasn’t LICHEN the word much at all.
