  1. Happy Monday everyone. I don’t know about you, but I’m off to a slow start after staying up to watch the game last night. There was an interesting article in my paper that said approximately 17 million people will be calling in sick to work this morning. And all of those missed hours add up to roughly $4 BILLION dollars in lost productivity for companies. To combat the issue, the NFL is considering adding a 17th game to their schedule which would push the Big Game to President’s Day weekend, and would allow for millions of people to have Monday off. That’s a very creative solution if you ask me.

There weren’t any new clue words this morning, but it was interesting to find all of the anagrams returning as such. BECOME was the only one that I didn’t see straight away. Overall, I’d choose TONGUE as today’s hardest word. If it wasn’t obvious what it was when you first came across it, then you surely had your work cut out for you.

The teacher in today’s cartoon is using one of the oldest tricks in the book. When the course material is dull and boring, just disguise it as a game and watch the kiddos snap right back to life! The dialog was interesting in that you can almost imagine the kids raising their hands the second the teacher finished explaining the directions to the exercise. My favorite detail was the globe sitting on the bookshelf in the front of the classroom. And in case you were wondering, there were ten tomes on the shelf!

The final solve was an anagram consisting of 11-letters. Five of them were vowels and six were consonants. The layout was extremely cryptic and not at all what we’re used to seeing on a Monday. THE seemed to be the obvious choice for our 3-letter word. With those letters plucked out, DOUBLE and ON were no trouble at all to decipher.

If you had a favorite commercial, or any thoughts on the game, be sure to let everyone know down below. I still can’t figure out the commercial where the guy was playing a keyboard and singing in an open field. It was truly bizarre, but I guess it was effective because I actually remembered it. Have a marvelous Monday, and keep Jumbling!

    • Hey Mike…Effective, indeed! The ad you’re referencing, for Oatly Milk, is getting a ton of ink this morning…and whether it’s because the actual CEO of the company was featured singing, or because it was just quirky enough to pique people’s interest, doesn’t seem to matter! Oat milk? Who knew? But I Googled it, and the company, because I’d never heard of it…And suffice to say I didn’t Google any others…😂 “Wow, no cow”? I bit! Plus the story about it being banned in Petersson’s native Sweden is an added twist…So I’m pretty sure we haven’t heard the last of this commercial…
As for the rest? If nothing else, they were definitely “star” driven. I’m trying to remember a year where there were so many well-known celebrities featured. So I’m still in the process of weighing them all to see which ones I’d pick as the my Top Three…But I will say that the Boss definitely touched me…🏈🙋🏻‍♀️

  3. Good Morning, Everyone..I hope this finds you well…2️⃣x2️⃣

🎶 Love me TWO TIMES Baby, Love me TWICE today…Love me TWO TIMES, Girl…I’m goin’ away…One for tomorrow, one just for today…Love me TWO TIMES…I’m goin’ away…🎶 “Love Me Two Times” – The Doors 1967 https://tinyurl.com/y7cqtq3a

2️⃣ The teacher tells these little ones..”Get ready, here we go,
HELLO, we’ll start with easy ones”…nothing is DRAWN to show…
The hands go up, a TONGUE will wag, these kids are on the ball,
And 2 times 2 will equal 4…so each hopes they’ll be called
They’ve all BECOME adept at this, no one is having trouble…
The teacher’s taught them when it’s time…to answer ON THE DOUBLE! 2️⃣

  4. An especially easy puzzle, anagrams and the cartoon, for a math related puzzle for this retired math prof. But then it is Monday.

  5. I love this puzzle. I only wish it would be in my Sunday paper. I get it 6 days a week, but it’s not my Sunday paper.

    • That’s too bad, EJ. There are plenty of newspapers that publish the Sunday Jumble online for free. Type “Sunday Jumble” in the Google search box and the Chicago Tribune will most likely be the first result. Enjoy!

  6. 🔥 As the smoke started to BECOME thicker, and had DRAWN cries of “HELLO…get out ON THE DOUBLE” he rushed to leave the apartment, tasting the fire’s acridness on his TONGUE as he opened his door…🔥

🗣With fear he’d BECOME TONGUE-tied…he tried to say HELLO,
As all the eyes were DRAWN towards him…his nervousness did show
He hated dealing with the stress, was it worth all this trouble?
No time to muse about it now…someone yelled ..”ON THE DOUBLE”….🗣

  7. Easy breezy Monday puzzle. I have great respect for teachers. They have such an important and challenging career – unsung heroes and heroines in my opinion. As they say, “If you can read this, thank a teacher”. Happy Monday to all!

    • I couldn’t agree more, Betty. My brother has been teaching middle school math for 22 years now and I honestly don’t know how he does it. He’s a very patient man so that’s probably one of his secrets. Have agreat start to your week. 🙂

  8. Hi all – Each of the six letter words took me a couple of jumbles, but didn’t take too long. Didn’t see the answer at first, but I had “In the”, and when I saw there was no ‘I’ in the letters I tried “on” and that showed the rest.

Great song of course, Angela, and it also reminded me, somewhat appropriately the day after the Super Bowl, of Dolly Parton’s “TWO DOORS down” (🎵“they’re laughing and drinking and having a PARTY!”🎵)

    Good wishes to everyone.

SF Chronicle article titles today about the Super Bowl – “Old Man Winner”; (then referencing the Bucks’ Pirate-themed logos), “The Jolly Codger”; about the Chiefs, “Not a K. C. Masterpiece.”😂

“He knew his TONGUE would BECOME happy when it said HELLO to the luscious DRAWN butter poured over the freshly caught, steaming hot New Hampshire lobstah!”

    • Tks, Steve. You know I always go with the first thing that pops into my head, but the funny thing is we were just listening to it Friday night…the Doors on Vinyl!! 👏🏻👏🏻. Having a party? 🤦🏻‍♀️ SMH…Between 50 Cent, and the post-game maniacs, here’s where the numbers in Florida go flying off the charts…I’m just praying none of them come here…🦠😱. The Daily News front page today? “THE BLEAT GOES ON”…(I do like that)! …”Ageless GOAT Brady leads Bucs to Super Bowl Win…”. (Ad nauseam…even though he did win me some money)!!!😂😂…Decided to go with the head…the heart always gets me in trouble!!! Have a good one, Steve…Be well and stay safe…And stay away from Florida!!! 2️⃣x2️⃣🙋🏻‍♀️

      • By the way, Angela, your Super Bowl Quiz stumped the fellows in my family. The only answer they got correct was Peyton Manning. They’re probably too young to know of the other players. At any rate, it was a fun activity. 🏈

        • Hi Betty…But I hope they enjoyed it just the same…And it’s funny you say that because the other night Steve and I were discussing sports figures, and he said something similar about his nephew…that he was probably too young to remember someone. But age don’t come into PLAY…(not here anyway)! 😉-😂 I didn’t “grow up” with Football…my Father wasn’t into it, so it never aired in my house, and I never followed it. I didn’t get into it until I started dating…But I’ve had Super Bowl parties every year for like…forever, and everyone who comes, brings a trivia question on an index card, and throughout the night we’d draw them…and wager. And after I lost enough money? 😱 I definitely honed up…You know what they say…Fool me once, shame on you…fool me twice, shame on you…fool me three times…(yes, it happened)! 🤦🏻‍♀️…STILL shame on you…But after that???? You either quit playing or you get revenge!!! 😂😂😂 But yes, it is fun! Hope you’re enjoying the day, Betty…Be well and stay safe out there…🏈🙋🏻‍♀️

    • You almost guessed what we’re having for dinner tonight, Steve! The lobster looked amazing this morning, but the haddock filets were on sale so I went with those. 😂

  9. No problemo hoy! Nice to see Mike back in the trenches…. Good song choice Angela! The team I didn’t expect to win didn’t lose and the one run by Mahomes did. I rarely bet against Brady but I thought he would get quite a battle from KC than he did. The Brady/Gronk pairing seems to be working out.
Multiplication is just adding a number of times. In the end it all adds up…. Hope y’all have a fine day!

    • Thanks, Mig. Always enjoyed the Doors. Multiplication? Just a sign of the times! 😉 And Brady and Gronk? Definitely a marriage made in Heaven…Be well, Mig…and stay safe out there…2️⃣x2️⃣🙋🏻‍♀️

      • Depending on your personal preferences and whether you bet your head or your heart 🎵“This could be heaven or this could be hell”🎵

        • Hotel California aside…isn’t that all what sports betting boils down to? 😉🙋🏻‍♀️

    • It’s back to the grind, Mig. And with 6” of snow yesterday, and 2-4” forecast for tomorrow, it’s going to be a lonnnnnng week.

I watched a few episodes of Seinfeld this weekend and couldn’t help but think of you. It was the one where Kramer started doing everything in the shower. Such a classic. 🙂

  10. The jumbles were easy however the answer was a little tricky… until I saw double!!! Quickly solved!
    A good one!
