  1. Good Morning, Everyone..I hope this finds you well….
    🏈 Winning isn’t everything, it’s the only thing….Vince Lombardi 🏈

🎶 We are the CHAMPIONS, my friends…And we’ll keep on fighting till the end….We are the CHAMPIONS, we are the CHAMPIONS….No time for losers…’Cause we are the CHAMPIONS of the World…🎶 “We Are The Champions” – Queen 1977 https://tinyurl.com/12h5e9wx

🏈 There was a run on LIQUOR stores, no reason to BEMUSE,
There’d be a Champion Football Game…with nothing to confuse
The hype was so exciting, it was Packers ‘gainst the Chiefs,
Considered to be both the best…despite other beliefs
The Packers had no mascot then, no PIRATE nor a horse,
But what they had was Lombardi…and that man was the Boss
Intimidating? That he was…and of him some AFRAID,
But LEVITY he possessed too…with remarks that he made…
He’d say that his team didn’t lose, there simply wasn’t time,
For his players to win the game…and their stature did climb…
So on that day in LA, the tables didn’t SWERVE,
Lombardi’s team was favored and they won what they deserved
The final score read 35-10…and Packers fans did cheer…
And every year it’s proven…IT WAS A SUPER IDEA! 🏈

January 15th, 1967. Los Angela’s, CA. The AFL-NFL World Championship Game, (later to be known as Super Bowl I), between the Green Bay Packers, and the Kansas City Chiefs…https://tinyurl.com/1gzmbk9f …So, where to begin?

While we once again have no new words today, we do have 5 new anagrams…And they’re exceptionally EXECUTED! The only one that’s been in PLAY before, SMEEUB, appeared way back on August 7th, 2013…and it might be today’s KICKER, since it’s not a word used all that often. And the only two words that made the Early Birds VEER off a bit? Bemuse and LEVITY. But the solve? They had that DOWN in no time! Ok…moving FORWARD…

So, today’s puzzle celebrates…today. Super Bowl Sunday. But instead of our guys giving us an old RUN-of-the-mill SB puzzle, today they’ve opted instead to go way DOWN FIELD, and bring us back to the very beginning. The very first Super Bowl… https://tinyurl.com/15g9mlz2 And as we overhear the initial game being discussed by the coach and his players, we can see by the smiles on their faces that this is a very welcomed event…well-worth waiting for…It’s a grand idea…To them?…IT WAS A SUPER IDEA! And…TOUCHDOWN! There was no BLIND SIDEing us with this one!

Ok…our cartoon…where the GAME gets good! The man in the ubiquitous trench coat and fedora, should need no introduction…but since I’m in a POSITION to FLAG our characters, I’ll do so. The man is the legendary Vince Lombardi, https://tinyurl.com/yv7qqjoc one of Brooklyn’s finest, and Coach of the NFL Green Bay Packers…And who I thought to be the players? A bit of a conundrum. With the puzzle in black and white, I took them all to be Packers. But seeing the colorized version in my paper? I’m BLITZed…But this is what I originally thought…Clockwise: … Dave Robinson, Jim Taylor, Max McGee, Billy Curry, and clutching the pigskin, the winning Quarterback, Bart Starr. It’s a great drawing, and I’m definitely adding it to my Sports collection. Only right now I have so many questions…but like the Coach said…there simply isn’t enough time…

So, There you have it, Folks…Done. Be well, stay safe…Enjoy the game…And..Oh wait…Before I ROLLOUT, I will ask one question…Show of hands…Who can get through an entire Budweiser Clydesdale commercial without going HANDS TO THE FACE? Not me…they get me every time…There’s definitely no STRONG SIDE to me when it comes to those dogs and horses…It’s the BIG UGLY cry every time…and I’ll miss them tonight…🏈🙋🏻‍♀️

    POST GAME – SUPER BOWL I https://tinyurl.com/1lupbjex

  2. Jerry Kramer: in a half joking but actually, an admiring way; about Lombardi: “He treats us all the same. Like dogs!”. Different days.

    • Yes, he was known to rant and rave…Guess it was the Brooklyn Italian in him! 😉🙋🏻‍♀️

  3. So…In honor of Super Bowl LV, here’s V Trivia questions for you Super Bowl fans…🏈

1 – Which is the only team that didn’t get to keep their Lombardi Trophy? And why?
2 – Which starting quarterback won Super Bowls with two different teams?
3 – Who scored the first touchdown in Super Bowl History?
4 – Who is the only player from a losing team to be awarded Super Bowl MVP?
5 – Who was the first Super Bowl commentator who was still an active player at the time of the broadcast?

  4. 🥃 He had to SWERVE to avoid hitting the other car, and after smelling LIQUOR on the driver, became annoyed at the man’s attempt at LEVITY, attempting to speak with the accent of a PIRATE…and wondered did this guy think IT WAS A SUPER IDEA trying to BEMUSE him…no, suffice to say he was AFRAID that only calling the police would solve the situation…🥃

🏴‍☠️ A little bit of LEVITY is what he tried to show,
But also he was still AFRAID to step on any toe…
Reaction did BEMUSE him, he saw the necks all SWERVE,
As he entered in PIRATE garb…and everyone observed…
But some LIQUOR did relax him, so his choice of what to wear?
Might just end up being ok…IT WAS A SUPER IDEA…🏴‍☠️

  5. Morning, Angela and Everyone – I found the anagrams, not the answer, tough today. The two I had to back into – Afraid and Liquor – are low down in the poll so far. I also loved those commercials, Angela, though I wasn’t moved to the same extent. Wishing all a super day.

    • Good Morning, Caroline. I think all of today’s anagrams are masterfully done. And keep in mind, Sunday is a very slow day here…so it’s hard to tell what might be stumping others. The commercials? 😢…Are you having snow up there yet? It’s been snowing here for a few hours already…and it’s once again completely covered whatever we managed to clear from the other day…Not looking too good! 😱 Have a good one, Caroline…Be well and stay safe…❄️💦🙋🏻‍♀️

      • Snow is falling right now but we aren’t supposed to get much. It’s been an easy year so far for us.

        • I’ll trade places! LOL! We’ve already gotten another 2 inches, and it’s coming down like crazy..Now I just heard it may be 2 inches an hour! Yikes! We just went thru this! It’s like déjà vu…all over again! 😂 Hope the worst of it passes you, Caroline..and be careful…❄️💦🙋🏻‍♀️

  6. I usually have trouble w the Sunday Jumble because of the extra anagrams and extra letters, but today’s Super puzzle was a clean sweep for this frustrated Cleveland Browns fan,one of 2 teams never to even appear in a Super Bowl, the other being the Detroit Lions.Liquor was a quick solve for me,because when growing up in Cleveland,I was stumped by the Liquor signs on bars and taverns ,as to what ‘liquor’ meant.

    • Not easy being a sports fan…I know Professor…Frustration doesn’t even cover it! And yes, it was a clean sweep today…A fun puzzle..And you gave me a smile with your liquor tale! Have a good day, Prof. Be well and stay safe…🏈🙋🏻‍♀️

  7. Wow! Powered right through the puzzle this morning even though I’m not all that knowledgeable about sports. I do know that Mr. Tom Brady is a local Bay Area fellow and actually went to the same high school as my son-in-law though not at the same time. So I’ll be rooting for the Buccaneers this afternoon. Okay Miss Angela, give us the answers to the quiz. I don’t know them but want to send them on to my family so they think I know more about the Super Bowl than I actually do. Have a Super Day all!

    • Hi Betty…I’d be more than happy to give you the answers…but I was thinking I’d wait for Steve, because I know he’s Googling as we speak! 😉…And he should be here soon. Hang in there…🏈🙋🏻‍♀️

      • Nah, it’s no fun using Google to cheat, even though I didn’t know the answers. I can live with that; it happens more and more lately! 😂

        • Ok, Betty…Here you go! 🏈🙋🏻‍♀️

1 – The Colts. Unlike trophies such as the Stanley Cup and the Grey Cup, a new Vince Lombardi Trophy is made every year and the winning team gets permanent possession of it. The one notable exception is the trophy that the then Baltimore Colts won in Super Bowl V. The city of Baltimore kept the trophy as part of the legal settlement between the team and the city after the Colts’ infamous “Midnight Mayflower” move to Indianapolis on March 29, 1984.
          2 – Peyton Manning
          3 – Max Mc Gee
          4- Chuck Howley
          5 – Jack Kemp

      • Will do though Steve wouldn’t stoop to cheating. I already sent the questions on to my family and so my son-in-law is already stumped calling in reinforcements from his brother who is a total sports maniac. Maybe I’ll offer a family prize.

        • LOL! You go, Girl…Make that money! 😂😂…I just sent them, Betty. Enjoy the game! 🏈🙋🏻‍♀️

      • At least I got my partial #4 answer, since Chuck Howley was a Cowboy in SBV (via Google! 😂) He was also very strong — last seen wheeling West Virginia 🤦🏻‍♂️

  8. Hi all – Not too bad a solve for a Sunday puzzle. PIRATE took me a few extra jumbles (again) after getting past PARITY and PARTY. Next hardest were LEVITY and BEMUSE, but I was lucky to see them. The answer was obvious.

    Good wishes to everyone.

I’ll pass on writing a sentence so I don’t sprain anything getting those words in, and the only way I’d have a chance at the quiz is if were multiple choice. I’d guess that the MVP losing player was probably from Dallas or Pittsburgh.
I’d be very surprised if Kansas City lost today, unless they *really* can’t stop the run at all. Happy viewing!

    • LOL! You ain’t kidding! I definitely hurt myself this morning TACKLING these words. They were almost impossible to put together…Enjoy the game, Steve…and stay safe out there…🏈🙋🏻‍♀️

  9. I didn’t fumble a thing today. The solution jumped on me as I read the cartoon comments. It all lined with no false starts! I enjoyed your test Angela and your salient points on football. Do you know what they name ‘football’ in most of the rest of the world?

    • Soccer? Hi Mig…Tk you. It was a fun puzzle. I enjoyed playing with it. And here’s to your completion! 😉 Enjoy the day, and the game…And stay safe out there…🏈🙋🏻‍♀️

  10. Good evening. Just got back to jumble and finished it. Busy all day. Hardest word for me was Bemuse. I had trouble with a few but Bemuse took the longest to get. The cartoon answer was pretty easy. Take care.

  11. Was not bemused with the game especially after drinking a bunch of liquor and watch the referees decidedThey game.Course the cheifs shot themselves in the foot six or seven times. Can’t wait till sea levels rise and drowned everybody in Tampa Bay especially super Brady Tompa Bay Got lucky.
