  1. Having seen this android on 08/21/19, we can easily calculate that the hardware of a positronic brain implant needs to be upgraded approximately every 1.5 years. That doesn’t sound too off the mark considering Apple releases new iPhones featuring their latest processors at roughly the same rate. As with any other technology, you can easily get away with doing a few software and firmware upgrades to extend the functionality of the equipment, but there comes a point when those tweaks become too much for the processing unit to handle, and the physical hardware ultimately needs to be replaced.

There weren’t any new clue words today, but all of the anagrams surprised me by coming up as such. My only stumble came from MAGNET. It seems that my puny human brain wanted to process it as MAGENTA! There was a time when FONDUE would have given me all sorts of trouble, but I’ve seen it often enough that it’s now instantly recognizable.

Today’s cartoon looks like a scene plucked straight out of an Asimov book. The technician, dressed in a lab coat and safety glasses, is at the point of the upgrade where the new processor is about to be installed. If you look closely at the chip, you’ll see that it has a Jumble “J” in the center of it. I like how Jeff had another android prepped and ready on the table in the background. The stomach cavity on that one was exposed, so there’s no telling what kind of upgrade it’s going to receive.

The final solve was an anagram consisting of 12 letters. Five of them were vowels and seven were consonants. I saw POKE at first, but all of the E’s brought KEEP to mind. With AN being given to us, the rest of the solution was a blind solve. Have a terrific Tuesday everyone, and keep Jumbling!

  3. Good morning. Only one word popped into my head right away which made you work for the solution. The cartoon answer was almost a blind solve. After looking at the letters my second thought was correct. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.

  4. Good Morning, Everyone. I hope this finds you well…🤖🙋🏻‍♀️

🤖 While Science Fiction has its fans…for me it’s not a draw,
I’ve read some work of Asimov, but most I find a bore…
Imagination did run wild, a PILOT thinker he,
    But I can’t keep a POKER face…it somehow tickles me…
There’s those who love the idea of the Positronic brain,
And feel drawn like a MAGNET…but to me..no, there’s no gain
(Reminds me of a FONDUE…those who like and don’t in kind)…
But the Droid’s getting a Jumble chip!…I’ll KEEP AN OPEN MIND! 🤖

  5. 🥢 Refusing to KEEP AN OPEN MIND, the writers insisted on showcasing a FONDUE dinner on the PILOT episode of the new comedy, but the jokes centering around that ridiculous red serving POKER weren’t exactly a MAGNET draw…🥢

👨🏻‍✈️The PILOT loved his FONDUE, well long after it had fame,
He served it each time he hosted the weekly POKER game…
Some claimed it had a MAGNET taste, but Fly-Boy held his ground,
He felt it brought him luck…but trust…the theory stayed unfound…
Not everyone enjoyed it, but from habit felt resigned,
They ate it and most did agree to KEEP AN OPEN MIND…👨🏻‍✈️

  6. Fondue got me,maybe even again, given that it was a recent anagram in 2020.
But, be that as it may,the cartoon solution was pretty much a blind solve, given the multiple P’s.After a couple of days of dense fog in Illinois, there was an UFO,spotted in the eastern sky,my wife said it was the SUN! Have a great day.

    • …And the news reported numerous people claiming they spotted one in Hawaii. 🤖🤷🏻‍♀️

  7. Hi all – Got the words; didn’t get tripped up by the UN trick not working for FONDUE. Thought the answer might include GOOD IDEA, but saw the answers when I wrote the letters.

    Good wishes to everyone.

“A MAGNET secured the pot’s base and the PILOT light kept the FONDUE warm for the POKER game.”

    • Nice catch on the UN trick not working, Steve! And I particularly enjoyed the way you used PILOT in your sentence. I often refer to the warming element as sterno or a tea light. PILOT was the perfect replacement. 👍🏻

    • PILOT light! 👏🏻👏🏻! The word lends itself to so many variants. Which we love…but tends to pose a problem for those practicing ESL. (And for some reason when I read your sentence I was thinking Mark Twain)!!! 😂🙋🏻‍♀️

    • “Pilot light” is a common term for me. There have been gas stoves almost everywhere I’ve lived since childhood. 🔥

  8. Another easy one today. I too am not a fan of science fiction. How well I remember the fondue craze. I had a ceramic fondue pot for chocolate – we dipped fruit into warm melted chocolate. Hope all of you have a good Tuesday.

    • Hi Betty. Have you heard of a restaurant called The Melting Pot? All they serve there is fondue! Sure it’s a bit pricey, but there’s no messy cleanup to deal with after your meal. And the best part is indeed the warm chocolate dessert served with bite-sized pieces of fruit, marshmallows and brownies. I’m getting hungry just thinking about it!

  9. My fork also got stuck in the FONDUE. Nevertheless it went rather smooth today for me…. We will learn the name of the Heisman winner today, maybe an Alabama running back? Stay warm and dry until tomorrow!
