  1. Good Morning, Everyone. 💵 I hope this finds you well…💵

🎶 PENNY Lane is in my ears and in my eyes…There beneath the blue suburban skies…I sit, and meanwhile back…🎶 “Penny Lane” – The Beatles 1967 https://tinyurl.com/o4u2b4u

💵 The PHOTO of today’s cartoon, has us back in a class,
With kids this young is there a CURVE that’s used to fail or pass?
The lesson being taught today is fractions, and their deeds…
I wonder what’s tomorrow? History? And who’d SECEDE?
Or maybe there’ll be Science, and how things begin to grow?
Like FENNEL from a little seed…that would be good to know
But for now, Math and money, so the kids know how it’s spent…
    A dollar is a dollar…and a penny’s ONE PER-CENT! 💵

So the little guy putting his two CENTS in likes QUARTERS better, huh?… Of COURSE he does. There’s always one in every crowd, am I right? The one with the METAL to speak his mind? Pennies? No way…this kid’s way past pennies…ONE PER CENT?…aGAIN, no way. This kid just don’t have the ABEility to settle for that…so don’t COUNT on him, by GEORGE! I mean, common CENTS, right? Do the Math! You gottta give him CREDIT DOUGH…All those pennies? No, who’s got the DIME for all that? Not him…and I doubt he’s gonna CHANGE any time soon, either. The only way I see him FOLDING? CASHing in those Quarters for those Dollars…Let’s face it, Folks…PENNY wise…pun foolish….Just to COIN a phrase…

Eye candy? I like the way the teacher explained the different currencies on the board…she made it very easy to make HEADS or TAILS of it…And we can see that the little boy at left has a penny…But the little girl has both a PENNY and a DIME in front of her, and her finger’s on the dime. So, I’ll go with her…Let’s be FRANK…TEN to ONE, she’s learning…..Wishing you all a great day…And let’s all COUNT our Blessings… 💴🙋🏻‍♀️

…And I’ll leave you with this…Can’t help it…you all know where my MONEY is…https://tinyurl.com/yd2pmqtq

  2. 💰 Loving FENNEL, it bothered him that he seemed to be spending so much more for it each time he shopped, so he decided to take a PHOTO of the price marked to remind himself, as he wondered when this rising cost CURVE would subside…he’d hate to SECEDE from buying vegetables altogether…but being on a budget, he definitely wasn’t among that ONE PER CENT…💰

🥬 He wondered why his FENNEL plant was growing in a CURVE,
It looked so strange and out of place, and he didn’t deserve
Having a problem with his crops, but not one to SECEDE,
He’s gonna take a PHOTO hoping that it won’t impede…
His chances to compete this year…he’s definitely hell-bent
To win the Gardening Award…to be that ONE PER CENT! 🥬

  3. Loved hearing the song again and seeing the video for the first time, Angela.
I got a kick out of the kid saying he liked quarters better.
My problem today was the spelling of Secede. At first I had Seceed, as in succeed, but I wasn’t sure and checked the spelling.

    • Good Morning, Caroline. Glad you enjoyed the song and video…Wr are talking the Beatles, right? 😉 Me? as much as I love the Beatles, it’s Sinatra has my heart. I just have no will power at all when it comes to him! 🤦🏻‍♀️ And I love this clip where he asks…”What the hell’s the next line”? Sooo Sinatra. I saw him so many times, and when he’d do things like that, you always wondered if he was serious or not…He was quite the showman…Anyway…(Phew! Is it getting warm in here)???? 😂 And that little Quarter Boy, right? Yep, I got a kick out of him too! He’s definitely HEADed places! 😂😂. And lastly…Secede…I had to go back and edit my poem…I saw that I had typed Seceed too! Looks like we’re definitely on the same wave length today! …Just to COIN another phrase! 😉 Enjoy the day, Caroline. Be well and stay safe out there! 💵🙋🏻‍♀️

      • Yes, I did mean the Beatles’ link, though I also like Sinatra. I didn’t know him or his music beyond the famous songs, but I’ve gotten to appreciate him more because of you. That’s great you were able to see him perform live.

        • Yes, I thought you meant the Beatles…only because I’ve never heard you speak of Sinatra…Not that there’s anything wrong with that! 😂😂 And how cool that my two CENTS worth brought him to you! 😉 Bravo! 👏🏻👏🏻 Speaking of…There’s these videos on YouTube of these 21-year old twins from Indiana, who started filming themselves listening to various kinds of music for the first time. They say that they’d only known Rap all their lives, and they felt they needed to branch out. https://tinyurl.com/ydz762nr I don’t know who turned me on to them a few months ago, but coincidentally they were featured y’day on the ABC show GMA3-What You Need to Know. And now it looks like there’s stories about them all over. Anyway, the clip of the brother, Tim, listening to Sinatra for the very first time is a trip.. https://tinyurl.com/y7k68vl3 Take a look if you get a chance. These guys are just adorable…so sweet and sincere. They’ve stolen my heart! And yes, I’m so lucky to have seen Sinatra perform…Be still my heart! 😉🙋🏻‍♀️

      • I hadn’t heard about the twins. So much fun watching one getting into Sinatra.
Wishing you and all a great, safe day, too.

        • They’ve done just about everyone. Some of them are just too funny…I laugh out loud! Have a great day, Caroline! 🙋🏻‍♀️

  4. I have to confess,I wasn’t familiar w the word, fennel, but figured it was the only choice. The other anagrams were a snap,as was the cartoon solution,Once again, being a former math professor,I liked the penny conversion to one percent of a dollar.

    • Good Morning, Professor…Fennel? No way. I love fennel…I can’t wait each fall for it to hit the stores…You should try it…Unless you dislike licorice…it has a similar taste…But ice cold, out of the fridge? With a glass of wine? Worth every PENNY! 😉 And I didn’t mind this Math lesson today either…Money, I can handle! 😂 Enjoy your day, Prof. Be well and stay safe…💵🙋🏻‍♀️

  5. Good morning. I knew what today was especially that it wasn’t Monday because I had a tough time all around. My choice for hardest word was Secede. I filled up a page on the pad with all possibilities of the letters. The cartoon answer finally sunk in when I realized that 10% wouldn’t work because of the O remaining. I had to knock it down to .01% for the successful finish. Loved you song choice and video Angela. Until tomorrow stay well.

    • Hey Brooklyn…Good Morning! What’s up with that Secede? SMH! …I need to take a look at the last time we had it…it seems to be sticking in a lot of craws this morning. Glad you enjoyed the music…but aGAIN? The Beatles…or Frankie? Who’s your MONEY on? Have a good one, Paul. Be well and stay safe…💵🙋🏻‍♀️

    • Oh David, I forgot to mention that I’ve made a special Jumble style puzzle for the 4th and was hoping you might get a chance to stop by and take a look. I’m going to post it in the next day or two. It’s a real doozy! 🤞🏻

    • Thanks for the message. Daisy looks so much like my dog, a terrier/poodle mix. Mine even had a little white below his mouth too.

  6. I too thought of succeed at first this morning but of course there was no u. Loved the song choices, Angela. My 16 year old grandson is a huge Frank Sinatra fan. When it came time for him to pick a confirmation name he considered Francis, not for the saint but for Frank. However, George won out, again not for the saint, but for George Clooney. Whatever…

    • Tks, Betty, I knew you would. And yes, I remember about your Grandson…in fact he pops into my mind now when I listen to Frank. I was going to mention him to Caroline while we were talking about Sinatra, but I had a feeling you’d mention it, and I didn’t want to steal your thunder! 😉 And I’m ROTFL at the Confirmation name! George Clooney? And not for the Saints? I’m dying here! 😂 And If you don’t mind, I’m stealing the story.. It’s a gem..and I know my friends‘ll love it. Three of my nephews, and one of my male cousins, chose me as their Sponsor at Confirmation. Needless to say, they couldn’t very well take my name, as my family’s always done with our Sponsors. So they all chose Anthony instead, my Fathers name. I don’t know what made me happier…picking me, or choosing His name…And I thought “I” had a good Confirmation story! Yours beats mine, hands down! 😂 Enjoy your day, Betty. We’re in the midst of a brutal thunderstorm here…the thunder is deafening…and it’s pitch black out. But we need the rain…and there’s NOWHERE to go, so… c’est la vie…Be well, Betty…stay safe. 💦☔️🙋🏻‍♀️

      • Sounds like you’re everybody’s favorite sponsor, Angela – good role model for them all. Anthony is certainly a good selection. My husband’s middle name was Anthony and of course I always pray to him when I misplace something: “Anthony Anthony turn around, somethings lost and can’t be found” Stay safe in the thunder storm. Sounds like a good day to stay indoors but then again that seems to be the drill these days regardless of the weather.

        • LOL! Yeah, I’m think I’m everybody’s favorite ATM machine! 😂😂 No, seriously, thank you, I do fell that I’m a good role model for them all. I do try my best…(to drill “Do as I say, not as I do” into them all)! 🤦🏻‍♀️ Again, just joking…I am proud of the lot of them. And I felt honored with each and every request. I‘m not sure if you consider a Sponsor a Godparent as we do, but I also have a bunch of Godchildren from baptism. Only one can wonder if those kids were “stuck” with me…you know, they didn’t choose me, their parents did..The Confirmation kids chose me on their own…I tease them about it…I do enjoy shaking things up once in a while! 😉 But St Anthony? On the money! My favorite name in the whole world. Half my family carries the name…And I love that you have an affinity for it too! And we were taught the same thing growing up…Ask St Anthony to help you when you lose something. And like you, till this day, I still do too…AND, it works! 🙏🏻! I’ve a very special place in my heart for St Anthony…(St George?…Not so much)!!! 😂 The storm’s slowing down…the thunder anyway…And yep…staying home has become routine…🤷🏻‍♀️

        • Betty…I just received an email that the Dr Fauci Bobblehead is finally shipping! I wonder if they’ll have him wearing a tiny mask! 😉🙋🏻‍♀️

    • Betty, I had to laugh at the 16 year old Sinatra fan, because the only time I’ve heard them mentioned together before was in a story about how convenience store owners found that the most effective way of keeping teenagers from hanging around their entrances was to pipe Sinatra over their outdoor speakers. 😂

      • He’s an old soul at heart though he likes the modern music too. Loves to dress up in a suit and tie and go out to dinner. We have great fun together.

        • Betty..(I’m gonna pull a Steve here)…”If I may”…😉 I think you’re both so blessed to have one another. He sounds like Aces. God bless! Cento Anni! 🍷🙋🏻‍♀️

  7. Hi all – I remembered FENNEL, and the double letter trick worked anyway. I knew the last word was SECEDE but I can never remember how to spell it. The answer obviously had CENT in it, but I didn’t see what they were going for until I wrote the letters.

Angela, you made it easier to guess what the link was by including FRANK, but I did guess it right before looking. And I have to ask – fennel cold right out of the fridge? Do you just eat it like celery? Like I said before, I once had a whole yard full of it, but I’ve never eaten it.

    Good wishes to everyone.

    • Hey Steve..Sorry, but I’m not following you. Guessing what link…and mentioning Frank? Where? I threw a few links out there today…The fennel? Yes, just like celery. Cut it, rip offa piece, and eat. Some people don’t refrigerate it, but I like it real cold. I just eat it as is. But I’ve drizzled it with lemon, or dipped it into olive lit and garlic..there’s so many different ways to eat it. And I’ve cooked it too…But I’ve was raised just eating it as is…after dinner, with fruit and nuts, etc. Now you got me thinking… Is it an Italian thing? I never thought about it…And I can’t believe you’ve grown it and not eaten it…You really should give it a shot. It’s full of vitamins too…Be well and stay safe, Steve…And keep that mask on when you’re out! 😷🙋🏻‍♀️

      • Just before the link to Pennies From Heaven, you posted “Let’s be FRANK…TEN to ONE, she’s learning”, so I took a guess at what the song would be.

I didn’t grow the fennel, it sprouted up all over the property like weeds and was more of a nuisance.

You don’t have to worry about the masks. Good science is not controversial here, and I can’t remember the last time I saw anyone without one, especially indoors. Plus, it makes me look a lot better!

        • Oh..no…I said FRANK for Franklin Roosevelt…you know, on the little girls Dime? TEN Dimes to ONE Dollar? 😉 In fact, I first typed Truman..and then I glanced over at Lou’s change lying on the nightstand….and I was like…😱😱! SMH! 🤦🏻‍♀️ I CHANGEd it right away! The fennel…a nuisance? I’d have loved it…And the mask? Well, we’ve COVERed 😉 that earlier today, haven’t we? So important…and 👏🏻👏🏻 to the “Good science”…you know how I feel about that! Don’t get me started…🤬 🙋🏻‍♀️

            • Well…I couldn’t very well have said…“Let’s be Franklin” now could I? 😂 As for the dimes…we wish we had a few of the Mercury ones, right? 💵 And did you know that the face on those coins is not the Greek God Mercury? It’s Lady Liberty with wings on her head? WT? 🤷🏻‍♀️ And that little bit of knowledge won me a trivia contest one night…I forget what I won though…I think a scotch and a dime…😉🙋🏻‍♀️

              • A scotch and a dime, or a vodka and lime (on a hazy day in winter).
I did *not* know that about Lady Liberty, thanks!

              • I’ll have both, thank you! 😉… And luckily that night, neither did anyone else! 🥃🙋🏻‍♀️

  8. Bob and Emily Hartley had a discussion about fennel on their show one Saturday evening about 45 years ago.

    • Sorry, Chuck 🤦🏻‍♀️ I mixed up my Chucks! 😂 I just figured it was the Professor since he’d been here earlier…But I’ve fixed it…Anyway, scroll down on those comments in the link. Looks like you’re not the only one who remembers that episode. 😉🙋🏻‍♀️

  9. I’m not sure, Angela. It headed the third paragraphs in the blog you referred to me. It’s probably somebody’s code name. It’s dated May 19 @ 10:05 am. Have a good one!!!

    • Oh, ok. I’m going to look. I thought maybe it was some new search engine that got past me! 😉 I scanned through that blog, but I didn’t look at any of the names…I was just hoping someone had a link to the episode. Funnel and fennel! I could just see that happening! 😂 Funny, while I was searching, I saw something about a new DVD set of the entire series that’s being released in September. I don’t really remember the show very well at all, and what I may have seen, would have only been maybe the last 2 seasons…So I pre-ordered the box set. Now I’m psyched! 😂 LOL…Hoping you’re having a good one too, Chuck…🙋🏻‍♀️
