AFTER A SUCCESSFUL EVENING AT HER WEEKLY POKER GAME, SHE ENJOYED HER – – –
BLRLOWLOADSLIN = “WON” DOLLAR BILLS
Happy Thursday, everyone. I’m not usually blunt, but I have to call a spade a spade. Today’s final answer was a royal pain in the ace! We’ve been dealt some easy hands this week, so it was nice of David to up the ante as Friday approaches.
Our favorite Jumble joker didn’t club us with any new clue words this morning, but all of the anagrams were original. My solve hit a bit of a dry spell when it came time to unscramble LOADED. My downfall was trying to pair up the D’s when I should have been splitting them. It was also our oldest word and last appeared on 2/17/16. LOWLY was our most recent returning repeat with a gameplay date of 3/30/19.
Today’s cartoon featured five Jumble characters that are finishing up an evening of playing cards. The cartoon sentence informs us that the game was poker and we see the winner receiving her payout like she’s on a game show. Speaking of game shows, the character with glasses appears to be Lissa Sears, and she actually was on The Price is Right! She’s also a good friends with Jeff and has appeared in a handful of his cartoons.
The details weren’t as detailed as some of the other poker panels we’ve had in the past, and my best guess is that Jeff wanted his friend to pop a little more. There were poker chips and cards in the center of a hexagon table, and one woman seems to be texting as the night comes to a close. Those bills do have faces on them, but they were generic and unrecognizable.
The final solve was an anagram consisting of 14-letters and would solve into three words. The layout was extremely cryptic and didn’t give anything away. Scouring the cartoon for clues, I finally zeroed in on the word “bucks”. The visual clue of the pile of money helped me find DOLLAR BILLS, and WON was right there to finish it all off. Well played, David & Jeff! Have a terrific Thursday, and I’ll see you right back here tomorrow!
