Today’s cartoon introduces us to a couple of proud monster parents who are showing off their newest addition to an old friend. Frankenstein takes one look at the little guy and jokes that he’s far too harmless to give anyone a fright. Proud Papa assures his pal that his son will be plenty scary in due time, and Mummy seems perfectly content cuddling her little darling close to her bandages. For now, he may be more cute than creepy, but just give that little monster a bit more time.

Frankenstein has his trademark flat-top, three visible stitches around his head, a neck bolt, black fingernails, turtleneck and blazer. He’s brought the baby a stuffed monster toy and tells Dad that his son looks harmless.
➤ PROUD PAPA
The werewolf is rocking a dad bod and an oval name tag, which identifies him as MICHAEL. His slicked-back hair, whiskers, sharp teeth, claw-like nails and even a little hair poking out from his right sleeve complete his werewolf look as he assures Frankenstein his little guy will be plenty scary soon enough.
➤ MUMMY MOMMY
Mummy is propped up in bed with the newborn resting across her stomach. Bits of her hair poke through the bandages as she looks down at her newborn with the kind of eyes only a mother could have.
➤ LIKE FATHER, LIKE SON
The baby boy is wrapped in a blanket with a single squiggle of hair, a unibrow and wolf-like ears that already resemble Dad’s. The family resemblance is coming in nicely, although no claws have popped like Pops just yet.
🧠 FINAL SOLVE
The final answer was an 8-letter anagram that solved into a 4 + 4 layout. There was nothing scary about this one. With the dialogue between the characters being a bit wordy, I held off on venturing a guess and decided to let the clue words do the heavy lifting. Solved in a flash, the W and G stood out amongst the pack, bringing GREW into the picture, leaving SOME to effortlessly finish this one off. If today’s puzzle slowed you down, our biggest nudge was the dialogue exchange, with Frankenstein questioning whether the baby was GRUESOME enough, while Michael made it clear that he will be once he GREW SOME.
