The final answer was a 13-letter anagram that solved into a 4 + 2 + 3 + 4 layout. As the work week draws to a close, today we find ourselves horsing around with a little wordplay. The clues were quite subtle on this one, with the cartoon keeping most of the attention on the rain, the horse, and its soaked rider. With nothing coming to mind other than the answer most likely having something to do with rain and horses, a quick solve of the clue words made RAIN stand out right away. In a surprising twist, the way I had crossed out the letters also left REIN clumped together. IN and THE were no trouble to decipher from what remained, allowing me to trot away from this one a winner. If today’s puzzle slowed you down, our nudges were the rider deciding to turn back, which was her way of trying to REIN IN THE ride, as well as the visual of the wet weather, which gave us RAIN to complete today’s wordplay.
