WELCOME BACK,
PUZZLE FANS!
🚆 SEE YOU RAIL SOON
Today’s cartoon takes us to a train station where a mom and dad are seeing their son off. As the train begins to roll away, the parents remain on the platform and share one last goodbye as their son peers out the window. The whole scene has the warmth of a classic family send-off. With their son finally on his way, Mom and Dad can only stand there, wave, and wish him well.

🔎 JUMBLE JEFF’S JEMS
➤ THE FAREWELL COMMITTEE
Mom and Dad stand together on the platform as the train pulls away. Dad wears a short-sleeve T-shirt and pants, waving with his right hand while his left arm rests around his wife’s shoulders. Mom has neatly styled, full hair, a short-sleeve top and pants, and waves with her left hand while keeping her right arm around her husband’s waist.
➤ LAST CAR, LAST LOOK
Their son stands inside the last train car, facing them through the window with palms pressed against the glass. A seat is visible just to his right.
➤ RAIL SIDE STORY
The train car rides along the tracks beside a raised platform with a slight overhang canopy. Beyond the tracks, several buildings and cars fill out the city background.
🧠 FINAL SOLVE
The final answer was an 11-letter anagram that solved into a single word with a “3 – 8” layout. The answer to our Hump Day puzzle looked tricky, but it wasn’t all that hard to track down. With the cartoon centering around the parents waving goodbye, “BYE” was my first guess at the three-letter word. With all of the clue words solved and those three letters removed, STANDERS was quick to come into view to see this one off. If today’s puzzle slowed you down, our biggest nudges were the parents waving goodBYE and being left STANDING on the platform, giving us STANDERS, with “BYE” providing the wordplay for “BYE-STANDERS.”

🥄 VIRAL RECIPE
These homemade waffle cones start with a simple batter made with eggs, sugar, butter, vanilla, flour, and milk. The batter cooks into thin, golden rounds in a waffle-cone maker before being quickly rolled into the familiar cone shape while still warm and flexible. Once cooled, the cones turn crisp and are ready for a scoop or two of your favorite ice cream.
