CARTOON ANSWER:

INSECURITY

WELCOME BACK,

PUZZLE PLAYERS!

🚨 PANIC BUTTON

Today’s cartoon takes us inside a home where a couple is having a new alarm system installed after a burglary occurred next door. The installer is wrapping up the setup and explaining how the cameras can be monitored from their phones, giving the homeowners a little extra peace of mind. Even with the new technology in place, the recent break-in is clearly still fresh in their minds, and both seem hopeful that the added protection will help them feel more comfortable at home.

➤ LOCKED AND LOADED

The installer appears to be wrapping up the alarm system setup. He wears a baseball cap featuring a lock-shaped logo, a short-sleeved collared work shirt, dark pants, and a trimmed beard. A phone or tablet rests in his hands as he explains how the new system can be monitored remotely.

➤ SEEKING PEACE OF MIND

The husband has his left arm around his wife’s shoulders as the two discuss the new security system. Both are dressed casually in short-sleeved shirts and pants.

➤ THE FINAL TOUCHES

The room contains several security-related devices, including a wall-mounted unit with three antenna-like extensions and another device positioned high up in the corner of the room. A small step stool sits beside the installer, along with an empty open equipment box on the floor.

🧠 FINAL SOLVE

The final answer was a 10-letter anagram that solved into a single 10-letter word. Due to the length of the answer, I didn’t have the faintest idea where the solution was headed, so I had to crack the case the old-fashioned way. With all the clue words solved and all the letters written out, the layout it left behind was exceptionally cryptic. It took a few moments of pause before SECURITY finally came into view. With those letters removed, IN was tacked onto the front to seal the deal. If today’s puzzle slowed you down, our biggest nudge came from the husband and wife’s conversation about feeling safer after the new alarm system was installed. Their dialogue pointed to the lingering INSECURITY left behind by the burglary next door.
