PUZZLE PLAYERS!

🎻 BACH ROW BUZZ

Today’s cartoon brings us into a concert hall where the conductor is ready, the orchestra is waiting for the cue, and the audience is locked in for an enchanting evening of classical music. Claire says she loves Johann’s music, while David points out that they’re in for a real treat with two of his pieces being performed one right after the other. Between the packed program, the eager crowd, and the idea of hearing two classics in a row from the same legendary composer, this performance is set to roll from one familiar masterpiece straight into the next.

➤ THE CONDUCTOR

The conductor is bald and standing at a podium with a music light attached to it, facing the orchestra with both arms spread outward. A conductor’s baton is visible in his right hand as he prepares to begin the performance.

➤ EYES ON THE MAESTRO

Facing us in the foreground are two violinists seated with their instruments and bows in hand. Their eyes are locked on the conductor, ready to begin playing as soon as the cue is given.

➤ THE AUDIENCE

The crowd is filled with smiling concertgoers seated throughout the hall. Claire and David are visible in the very back row talking about the evening’s double feature, while Kathy and Jeff are seated in front of them. Additional heads of hair appear throughout the background, giving the concert hall a packed look.

🧠 FINAL SOLVE

The final answer was a 10-letter anagram that solved into a “4” + 2 + “4” layout. Reading the cartoon sentence at first had me thinking this one might take a while, mainly because classical music definitely isn’t my forte and the names of the pieces didn’t ring a bell. Claire mentioning Johann, though, completely changed the tune, and once David called it a double feature, the idea of two performances happening one after the other by BACH cued me into the answer almost immediately. If today’s puzzle slowed you down, the dialogue was really the key, along with the cartoon’s sentence indicating that two musical pieces would be played.
