Another driver pulls up hoping to cash in on some easy targets of his own, only to realize he may have arrived a little too late. It does not seem to bother him much, though, as he quickly points out that he knows of another nearby street packed with parking violations waiting to be claimed. When competition starts heating up and the easy pickings keep stacking up, things can get awfully close before either driver backs down.

The final answer was an 8-letter anagram that would solve into a “3” + 2 + “3” layout. Our first puzzle of the week ended up being an instant solve. Seeing the cartoon sentence lean on the phrase “rival impound vehicle drivers” instead of simply saying tow truck drivers tipped me off to the word TOW. One look at the letter layout and the apostrophes, and it became clear where the answer was headed. A nice little warm-up for the tougher challenges that surely await later in the week.
