🌽 FIELD REPORT

Today’s cartoon drops us into a stretch of farmland where the corn is growing tall and a scarecrow is taking his assignment seriously. The farmer is impressed, praising him for being the most successful scarecrow he has ever had. Our straw-stuffed sentinel proudly explains that he enjoys being outside and giving the job his full attention. With that kind of work ethic, it’s no wonder he excels in his field.

🔎 Jumble Jeff’s Jems

➤ THE FARMER

The farmer wears a collared, long-sleeve shirt hanging untucked with a baseball-style cap. Longer sideburns peek out beneath the cap as he gestures proudly toward the scarecrow.

➤ THE SCARECROW

The scarecrow has a burlap sack head and straw hat with straw sticking out of his sleeves. A rope cinches his shirt at the waist, while his patched pants show repairs at both knees. One arm rests across the wooden crossbar behind him.

➤ THE CORNFIELD

Tall corn stalks fill the field with full ears visible along the stalks. A lone silo can be seen in the distance.

🧠 Final Solve

The final answer was an 11-letter anagram that solved into a single 11-letter solution. One look at the cartoon and the length, and I had the answer before even starting today’s puzzle. To me it was a complete no brainer, and with a scarecrow involved that felt especially appropriate. If you had trouble with this one, today’s nudges were the scarecrow saying he enjoyed being out in the field, and we also see him literally standing tall on the pole in the middle of the cornfield.
