Today’s cartoon yanks us straight into the wrong side of the afterlife.
Our character thought he was cruising skyward, and instead of clouds and harps, he finds himself staring at a sinister host who looks a little too pleased to see him. He is confident he pressed the right H, and the devil’s reply makes it clear the elevator delivered him exactly where he’s supposed to be. One look at that fiery backdrop tells him whatever comes next is going to be far less uplifting than he imagined.

➤WARMEST REGARDS — The devil stands waiting with horns, glasses, long pointed fingernails, a trident in his right hand, a pointed wagging tail, and hooved feet visible beneath his cloak.

➤DOWN AND OUT — The floor display above the elevator shows two H levels with an E between them. Each H is in a different font, one a fancy cursive style on the right and the other a simple block style on the left. The arrow clearly points to the H on the left. Inside the elevator, the man can be seen frantically pressing buttons as if trying to undo his celestial judgment!

Final Solve

The final answer was a sixteen letter anagram that solved into a 3 + 2 + 5 + 6 layout. The length looked intimidating at first, but after checking last Sunday’s puzzle, it turned out to be the exact same letter count. Nothing jumped out right away, and this one definitely made me work for it. Smaller words are tough to find, so I decided to attack the longer one first. The last four letters in the layout, along with the visual clues, led me to BEYOND. With those letters crossed out, the rest of the solve wrapped up quick.
