The final answer was a ten-letter anagram, split 5 + 5. Once I solved THUMP, the P pointed me towards SLEEP. From there it all clicked. The cartoon showed everyone piled into one bed with no room to spare. With AMOEBA spelled correctly, the rest of the answer fell neatly into place. Looking at the cartoon one last time, it occurred to me that sleeping tight like that is always better than sleeping LULLABY yourself.
