  1. Good Morning, Everyone… 🚇TUNNEL VISION 🚇

    🎶”Take The “A” Train”🎶…Mr Duke Ellington 1941 https://tinyurl.com/y739vszz

🚇 Under tunnels…water RUNNY…but there’s work that must get done,
The LOCALE mapped before him…all agreed before begun…
An OCTET has been hired, no SHROUD of mystery,
And Bob says he is ready…timeliness will be the key…
The work is hard, yes granted…but these two have made a pact…
A legal one, as we can see…Bob’s now UNDER CONTRACT…🚇

    Ok…Let’s first set the GROUNDWORK… The SUBWAY… https://tinyurl.com/yxv6ssm2 …the part of a city’s RAPID Transit System… https://tinyurl.com/48czsz5m that runs UNDER ground…and there’s no doubting we’ll make RAPID work of our puzzle today…

So…JUMBLE City. And Bob the Builder sitting DOWN with either the Mayor or the Governor…(I really can’t keep TRACK of all that BOROaucracy), FeliCITY Planner. And Bob, being the owner of the “CROSS SWITCH” Construction Company, is overheard promising her CONCRETE proof that the Subway’s UNDERground TUNNELS https://tinyurl.com/yc6w6y3e will be “dug quickly…as AGREED = CONTRACTED https://tinyurl.com/5fd9szn6 upon”. And that’s no YARN…So…With all this DUG UP, plus the CONTRACT lying right there in plain SITE..and getting back to my opening TRAIN of thought? Our solve today? The Construction Company was…UNDER CONTRACT…And the muck STOPS here…

Jeff’s Gems? The reference to the Jumble, of COURSE, in the city’s name as WELL as the JUMBLED letters listing the various Subway stops…the network of track layout that will be followed…and if you look real closely, on Bob’s shirt, you can see the tiny image of tracks that lead into a a tunnel, where a train has entered …cute little CARtoon image for sure..

So…There you have it Folks…Done. Have a good one. Be WELL, be kind, stay safe…And this puzzle reminded me of a friend of mine who was hired by the MTA… https://tinyurl.com/2mp9efbx after working ON AND OFF at a number of other professions over the years. He told us that he loved it…Said it was the best job RAILationship he’d had in a long time…🚇🙋🏻‍♀️

And to all our readers celebrating the Festival of Lights, Hanukkah Sameach!…May you have health and happiness, and a season filled with love and light. 🕎

  2. 😷Suffering with a terribly RUNNY nose, he thought to cover his face with a SHROUD-like mask…since he was only playing the drums at the next LOCALE…but the leader of the OCTET said that they were UNDER CONTRACT to appear uniform per the fine print…😷

🤷🏻‍♂️The day was dark and cloudy, a SHROUD of clouds prevailed,
A slight but somewhat RUNNY mist made it hard to inhale…
The chosen LOCALE all set up, the OCTET set to play,
They wished they could have chosen to perform another day
But no choice did they have in this…the cards against them stacked…
No chance they could reschedule…since they’re UNDER CONTRACT…🤷🏻‍♂️

  3. Wow ! Hello end of the work week Friday ! What a fun one today ! My only spur in the road was the second anagram ! And me being in a band and singing a lot , I should have seen OCTET ! I was thinking of less than eight I guess ! But the rest were right there ! Now the jumble was definitely not down under ! But subway gave me the first word UNDER ! The remaining letters , after studying them a while , had me UNDER CONTRACT ! What a fun and entertaining jumble ! Angela , the Duke was really good ! I’ve never watched him perform ! Great information ! Everyone have a great Friday !!!!!

  4. A really fun TGIF blind solve this morning….and anagrams followed suit. Lovely song, Angela…and I always like to point out the less heralded part of the composition team, Billy Strayhorn, one of his frequent collaborators. Thanks for pointing out all the interesting tidbits in the cartoon. Terry

    • Tks, Terry, and you’re welcome. But as far as acknowledgement goes, I always only mention the performing artist. If I went into composers I’d never get through this😉 And while this was the Duke’s signature song, contrary to popular belief, he didn’t compose it. It was all Billy Strayhorn. Glad you enjoyed it 🚇🙋🏻‍♀️

      • Oh, definitely no worries….and I surely didn’t expect you to elaborate. I was just throwing out his name to give him some mention. Happy holidays. Terry

        • And Mr Strayhorn definitely deserves some…And it’s only a man who knows his music, as you do, that would even know who’s behind so many of the beautiful sounds out there. 👍🏻 They’re definitely the unsung heroes…no pun intended! 🎶🙋🏻‍♀️

  5. Locale looked like coalece but after getting that straightened out, and having all the letters, I got the cartoon solution, under was a quick solve for the first word and then contract for the second word. Chuck.

  6. We all know with a project so large
It falls to the person in charge
    To keep working on time
    Account for every last dime
Or there’s sure to be a surcharge!

If only the subway/tramlines extensions in Toronto were going as smoothly as the cartoon indicates or the years-delayed trams in Edinburgh, all of which went away over initial costs.

  7. Good afternoon. I started to do the jumble but got sidetracked. Had to leave early again today but this time it was for mass. I had no problem with either the words or cartoon answer. Enjoyed the song choice Angela. Until tomorrow take care.
