Good Morning, Everyone…🥪 THE MEAT AND GREET! 🥪
🎶 In a lifetime made of memories…I believe in DESTINY…🎶 …”Meet Me Half Way” – Kenny Loggins 1987 https://tinyurl.com/bddzpcua
🥪 With schedules so HECTIC, and UNDUE this and that,
These two old friends had less time to meet and chew the fat…
“I feel like I’m in EXILE” one had said the week before,
Relating to his friend how busy was life…more and more…
“Picking up the grandkids…in the MIDDLE of building,
An outdoor recreation spot…with trampolines and swings…”
So it was such a great surprise and both were thrilled to greet…
Each other in the deli…where they’d enjoy a LUNCH “MEET”! 🥪
Today’s puzzle?… A neighborhood deli, and an imprompTWO MEETing…Easy to DIGEST if you just CHEWs to go at it PIECE-MEAL…Our question…Notice how David’s given us “midday”? Not the most commonly used word when referring to Noon/LUNCH time. And “bumped into”? = MEET…Our dialogue? “HAM”, “ROAST BEEF” = MEAT…And the quotation marks? You know you have to BITE…there’s a pun on the MENU! …Bottom line? …Our guys…(the one at right in a Jumble polo)…had a LUNCH “MEET”… https://tinyurl.com/3xye27e4 …& https://tinyurl.com/yz57pmtn …And this puzzle, on the ATE day of July…is a WRAP!
So…There you have it, Folks…Done. Have a good one. Be well, be kind, stay safe…And this puzzle put me in mind of my last trip to my neighborhood deli.. I was so upset because they ran out of my favorite LUNCH MEAT..I had to end up settling for German sausage. It was the WURST day…🥪🙋🏻♀️

🤷🏻♀️With things being so HECTIC lately they hardly got to see one another, and making jokes about being in EXILE, they decided to arrange a LUNCH MEET in the MIDDLE of next week…praying for no UNDUE occurrences…🤷🏻♀️
🤦🏻♂️The MIDDLE of the deli, seemed so crowded and HECTIC,
They always ate in that section…sort of their bailiwick…
It might feel like in EXILE to have to eat at back,
And them already upset…UNDUE pressure…for a snack?
They decided it’s not worth it…all the hassle for a seat…
They’ll schedule a dinner instead of today’s LUNCH MEET…🤦🏻♂️
Now that’s how to end the week Saturday , and put a cap on it ( lol , it’s a habit ) I only had one problem with the anagrams and was the fourth word ! It was a little HECTIC ! But everything else was good ! The jumble , using words like bumped , and midday lunch made me think , ok they met and they were having lunch and the quotation marks on the play on words , they had LUNCH “MEET” ! Very nice one ! Hope everyone has a Good Saturday , and enjoy this 4th of July weekend !!!!!!!
It was a pretty easy blind solve Saturday….Lucky for me because I had to back in HECTIC. That was a toughie. About his clue “Midday”. That got me to thinking NOON rather than LUNCH. But the MEAT/MEET was the giveaway and the common phrase LUNCH MEET came to pass. Try to stay cool in this summer heat !!
I wonder if they had a hunch
That they’d meet some colleagues at lunch
There’s no ands if or buts
While sharing cold cuts
They’ll relish more what they munch!
Angela, as a grammarian, do you consider it standard American parlance to say as it does in the dialogue box on the right, “If I knew you were coming here….” (simple past tense) instead of “If I had known….” (past perfect or pluperfect.) We get both in Canada. I always use the pluperfect.
Dare I speak for all Americans, Helen…but I’d imagine the way David’s phrased it here is the way it’s most often spoken. I’m with him on this one…🙋🏻♀️
Good morning. Breezed through the first three but spent some time on hectic. The cartoon answer was no blind solve but not hectic to get either. Liked the song choice Angela. At first I thought it was a girl singing it until the close up and he had the beard. Until tomorrow take care.
Good Morning, Paul. Tk you…but I’m sure if you looked, you’d see that there’s more of Kenny Loggin’s music that you’re familiar with…this for instance… 🙋🏻♀️ https://tinyurl.com/nhzdcwrt
Thanks for that song but honestly, this was the first time I heard that. Guess I blocked out everything but the 50s and 60s even to this day.
YW, Paul…And no shame in that…there was exceptionally great music then…👍🏻🙋🏻♀️
👏🏻It’s so nice running into a friend,
End up speaking for hours on end…
Catching up on the news,
Over roast beef or booze…
What a great way some hours to spend! 👏🏻
👬🏻Obligations have kept them apart,
But as they’re being served a la carte…
They’re so happy to meet,
Joyfully do they greet…
And a happy reunion does start…👬🏻
🧀We’ve a woman getting ham and cheese,
Which most palates it’s been known to please..,
Probably it sells the best,
And it’s usually dressed….
With mustard…the spicy one, please! 🧀
🥖This puzzle brings hoagies to mind,
Or heroes or subs…we can find…
In a deli as this,
It’s the usually dish…
But they also serve a good knish! 🥖
👍🏻Bottom line…today it’s about food,
Always helps put me in a good mood…
And to share with a friend,
It’s a beautiful blend…
Hence the joy we see our guys exude! 👍🏻
Being a Saturday I only have an online version of the Jumble but still had a clean sweep of the anagrams as well as the fairly obvious cartoon answer.Wishing you all a happy weekend.
Well done, Prof! 👏🏻👏🏻! Wishing you the same! 🥪🙋🏻♀️
