  1. Good Morning, Everyone …⚾️THE SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME!⚾️

🎶 I got TO HAND IT TO YOU…You made all my dreams come true…You took a heart that had seen some damage…And made it feel LIKE NEW…Oh, I got to HAND IT to you…🎶 “I’ve Got To Hand It To You” – Orleans 1986 https://tinyurl.com/yckjrjtk

⚾️To pick* a RUNNER off a base, depends on catch and throw,
And players need ADAPT so it becomes an easy flow…
One’s glove is so important…key to making the good plays,
One can’t FIDDLE, precision’s needed to avoid delays…
Along that line of reasoning…to guarantee the catch,
A sturdy glove’s created…which then led to a whole BATCH
And so back in the early days…and those first players drafted…
They had access to Baseball gloves that had all been HAND-CRAFTED…⚾️

SEW…The early days of Baseball lacked the gLOVE that we have for it today. Back then, in the beginning, balls were simply fielded with bare hands…which didn’t FIT, I mean sit well with everyone. The funny thing is the idea of wearing a glove was considered “unmanly” at the time…but one player, Charles C Waite, decided in 1875 to take matters into his own HANDs, and THROW caution to the wind. He donned a flesh-colored work glove, and took the field hoping no one would notice. But people did, and they went somewhat BATty over it…And poor Charles was terribly ridiculed…all on the BASEis that he was weak. Thankfully though, he managed to BRUSH BACK the criticism…and continued to do what he saw FIT.

Anyway…Pictured today SEAMS to be A.G. Spaulding. who was instrumental in creating the Baseball Glove. I BOUNCED around through an article or two, https://tinyurl.com/375xkt86 and HIT on him. And seen with him here is a SEAMstress, Betsy TOSS…known for her expert CRAFTSMANship, and trusted to not FOUL things up…who went with his salesPITCH and is trying her HAND at LINEing UP a functional, well-fitting glove. And they worked on it until it FIT to a T…EAM! …The rest? History…We WIND UP with a HAND-CRAFTED https://tinyurl.com/y6arwbw9 Baseball Glove…which we all know went on to become a HIT!

Oh…And yes, the word GLOVE is used both in our question and our dialogue, but IT’S all GOOD…As long as no part of the solve is used, it really doesn’t aMOUND to a HILL of beans…Let’s face it, it’s no WALK in the PARK having to CHANGE UP words so often…and I think David and Jeff have always ROSIN to the occasion and DUG OUT plenty of witticisms…They’re definitely in a LEAGUE of their own!

So…There you have it, Folks! SEWN UP! Have a good one. Be well, be kind, stay SAFE…And taking a cue from an old line of Shakespeare …”The COARSE of true GLOVE never runs smooth”, keep in mind that it’s MOIST important to break in a new glove…Once that’s done, you’ll be in great SHAPE…⚾️🙋🏻‍♀️

  2. 🎻 The RUNNER brought the first HAND-CRAFTED FIDDLE prototype to the manufacturer, while the designer was wrestling with how to ADAPT to the time frame needed to create a complete BATCH…🎻

🤦🏻‍♂️He was always known to FIDDLE ‘round, had trouble to ADAPT,
So easily distracted that he ‘oft times felt entrapped…
His thoughts those of a RUNNER…in a rush from here to there,
He’s looking at his BATCH of work…nary the slightest care
He starts four pieces all at once…with none of them ingrafted…
And lacks the discipline needed to create things HAND-CRAFTED…🤦🏻‍♂️

  3. Ended up just a tad shy of a blind solve….Figured HAND was first word, but didn’t know second (except maybe past tense ED). Anyway, seamlessly solved anagrams to finish up the puzzle. Yes, I’m sure Spalding was a forerunner to the massive Glove industry of today…Good history lesson, Angela. Nice Hump Day puzzle.

    • Hi Terry. Thank you. But I may need to reword the line referring to Spaulding, it may be misleading. He, of course, was a forerunner…it states as much in the link I included…what I meant was I wasn’t sure if he was who Jeff had pictured in his drawing. ⚾️🙋🏻‍♀️

  4. Good morning. The cartoon answer was there for an easy blind solve but I guess I was too deep in the forest to see it. But I did solve both ends in quick order. Enjoyed your song choice and the posts, Angela. Until tomorrow take care.

    • Good Morning, Paul. Thank you. Be well, and stay safe out there…⚾️🙋🏻‍♀️

  5. Being an avid Cleveland Indians (not Guardians) fan it was an easy baseball Jumble solve this morning. It also brought fond memories of the George Kell fielder’s glove I had growing up!
    Go ‘Tribe’.

    • I’m with ya on the Indians ! I’m a tribe fan too and can’t say Gaurdians ! Go tribe !!

  6. I need a ladder to get over this hump for this one ! I got all the anagrams as musical as a FIDDLE on the roof ! I know , I will ADAPT ! I was looking for a BATCH of jumbles that I could have a RUNNER up on them , but todays had me drop a foul ball cause I just couldn’t get CRAFTED ! I got HAND , but I just didn’t see CRAFTED ! I saw Factor , but it was out in left field and I didn’t Catch it , which I thought that was a word too , but it needed two C’s ! Well everyone have a great Wednesday and get over the hump !!!!!!

  7. At first glance I thought the answer might be hand stitched but lacking the proper letters and using the “ed” crafted appeared. Happy Wednesday all!
