  1. Good Morning, Everyone…I hope this finds you well…
🪙PUTTING YOUR MONEY WHERE YOUR MOUTH IS!🪙

🎶 It’s only WORDS…and WORDS are all I have to take your heart away…🎶 “Words” – The Bee Gees 1968 https://tinyurl.com/9znjj4n5

🪙 A class of budding writers…still as green as CHIVE would be,
A teacher trying hard not to HAMPER creativity…
They won’t write a SONATA, but he’s hoping thoughts don’t DROOP,
There has to be a kid or two to shine within this group
Right now though his instruction seems to only questions raise…
As he explains the meaning of the words we COINED A PHRASE…🪙

Definitely give that little boy at right A PENNY FOR HIS THOUGHTS…It may not be new, but I think he’s at least trying to get the gist of it…at least it seems that way from the exCHANGE of words he’s having with his seat mate…And before we even start…you had to get the gist of today’s solve…DIME on the board, QUARTER and PENNY in our dialogue…= COIN …and EXPRESSION, both in our dialogue and our question? = PHRASE….Talk about LOOKING A GIFT HORSE IN THE MOUTH!

So…COINING A PHRASE…creating a new idiom…is no easy task. And putting your MONEY on a group of kids this young could be a PRICEy undertaking…But then again, who knows…maybe there is a child amongst them who can PULL IT OFF …AT ALL COSTS…and if so…it’s definitely WORTH INVESTING one’s time…

Ok…A grade-school classroom, 9-10 years old, perhaps. Creative writing the lesson du jour…And a teacher who’s trying his best to LIGHT A FIRE UNDER his young CHARGES… But COINING a new PHRASE isn’t all that easy. Today, except for use in the Jumble, there isn’t all that much INTEREST in idioms…(Unless you’re a die-hard professed Idiom Savant like myself, that is). And today’s featured phrase? TURN ON A DIME? It dates all the way back to 1881…and pertained to horses! https://tinyurl.com/4ka8yk3w …So one has to wonder if our teacher may be BARKING UP THE WRONG TREE…and BITING OFF MORE THAN HE CAN CHEW. But I’ll GIVE HIM THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT, CUT HIM SOME SLACK, and NOT JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER. Maybe it’s an advanced class…and these kids have already STEPPED UP THEIR GAME….It does TAKE TWO TO TANGO, so maybe he knows something we don’t…Somehow though, FROM THE LOOKS OF THINGS…I just can’t GET MY HEAD AROUND IT…But to MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT…it’s time I CUT TO THE CHASE….The BOTTOM LINE here today?… Our solve? …Whoever came up with the EXPRESSION these kids are using to HIT THE BOOKS? He COINED A PHRASE… https://tinyurl.com/ht8bjx2x

So….There you have it Folks…Done. Have a good one. Be well, be kind, stay safe…and here’s to our teacher PULLING A RABBIT OUT OF HIS HAT…and getting these kids to DIG IN THEIR HEELS, STICK TO THEIR GUNS…and BLOW SOMEBODY AWAY! 🪙🙋🏻‍♀️

  3. 🪙 The numismatists decided to compose a SONATA titled COINED A PHRASE, something to do with the CHIVE crop they planted…but when spirits began to DROOP due to the absurdity of it all, it would prove to HAMPER the project…🪙

🤷🏻‍♀️She bought a brand new HAMPER, thought she’d use it now come Spring,
She’d plant some CHIVE and other herbs…and in it carry things…
And humming a SONATA, to her garden she did go,
Hoping nothing would DROOP her sails…and everything would grow…
Before long though her interest waned…she felt a strong malaise…
    “My grow…no go”…she thought aloud…and felt she’d COINED A PHRASE!🤷🏻‍♀️

  4. Well I’m going to be thirsty today ! I’m gonna have a sweet ice-tea ! I’ve been going strong with the anagrams and the jumble for the last two weeks except for todays which put a stop to it ! I couldn’t get HAMPER or SONATA ! And the jumble left me penniless, cause I didn’t get COINED A PHRASE ! “ a jumble saved , is a jumble earned “ ! There I Jumbled A Phrase ! Everyone have a great thirsty-Thursday !!!!!

  5. Just made it before flight is departing. Anagrams solved ..but no blind solve… Needed just another minute and would have had it …see you TGIF

  6. Good morning. I was able to get the words with some deep thought but it must have ran out when I got to the cartoon because I drew a complete blank. After awhile staring at the letters I came up empty. Seeing the answer I don’t think I would have ever got it. Perfect fit Angela for the song choice. Until tomorrow stay well and be safe.

  7. CHIDE yesterday. CHIVE today. What’s tomorrow, CHIME? CHILE?

    Solved everything with no problems.

  8. I always liked in the old gangster movies how a police informant would “drop a dime on somebody”… that’s when calls were just ten cents and payphones were everywhere!! Those days are long gone.

  9. Clever puzzle this morning. Got all the answers without difficulty. Did not know the origin of “Turn On A Dime” so I learned something as well. Have a good Thursday all!

  10. “Three Coins in the Fountain 1954” by the Four Aces would have been a good choice too. Old blue eyes recorded it also!
