  1. Good Morning, Everyone…I hope this finds you well…
    🪙 LET’S FACE IT…IT DOES MAKE CENTS!🪙

🎶 PENNY Lane is in my ears and in my eyes…🎶 “Penny Lane” – The Beatles 1967 https://tinyurl.com/8fskwfvv

🪙 The year was 1909, it was Vic Brenner’s design,
‘Twas nothing SCENIC ‘bout it, just a profile…which was fine…
No MEADOW or a monument, the penny was about,
Just Lincoln looking stoic…no smile at his MOUTH…
It’s FUNNY that Abe was the first to have “on coin” his presence…
But since he “turned” 100 that year? It just was COMMON “CENTS”! 🪙

In keeping with today being President’s Day…we’ve been given a puzzle honoring our 16th President, Abe Lincoln. A QUARTER of the people out there may feel that he superSEEDed George Washington…but that’s not the TRUTH…The day was given its title as part of the Uniform Monday Holiday Act of 1971 https://tinyurl.com/ydpr8ks2 …you know, so that we could CASH in on those 3-day weekends!

There’s so many interesting facts about our Penny…HONESTly…that I was STRUCK reading about it. So, I’ve included two articles here that I think you might enjoy…. https://tinyurl.com/yckmm7rc https://tinyurl.com/2p8ucanm … And then maybe the next time someone asks..”A PENNY for your thoughts”… https://tinyurl.com/tfaxxvuy …you can really put your two CENTS in!

So…Today we’re at the U.S. Mint, a place that as Jumblers we’ve SPENT time at before. And we see a CAST of five government employees at work, two FEATUREd producing the first of the Lincoln Pennies…ImPRESSive…And as I’ve mentioned so many times IN THE PAST, our dialogue always takes PRESIDENTS…”PERFECT way to honor”= COMMON SENSE…”Everyone will have one” = The COMMON man…And of course, it’s a PENNY = CENT…Pennies are COMMON CENTS…And let’s not forget those quotation marks…So you have to be ABE-L to see where we’re going here…The powers-that-be who decided to put Lincoln on a coin?…They had COMMON “CENTS”… https://tinyurl.com/4xxre9z2 …And to COIN a phrase…we’ve CASHed in on another ONE!

So…There you have it Folks…Done. Have a good one. Be well, be kind, stay safe…And this puzzle has me thinking of a friend and the trouble she and her family experienced a while ago. Her Aunt Penny died, and the woman hadn’t cut her hair in over 20 years. She had very long beautiful tresses…But when she was brought to the funeral home for cremation, it turned out they charged by weight and the family couldn’t afford a large enough receptacle for her ashes. She told me they all learned a very valuable lesson that day….A Penny SHAVED is a Penny URNed….🎤
And yes…COMMON SENSE tells me to leave now…😂🪙🙋🏻‍♀️

  2. Today we celebrate PRESIDENT’S DAY, a Federal Holiday. And while most Americans have the day off from work, let’s not forget those workers who’ll still be holding down the fort for us…Police and Fire personnel, Doctors and Nurses, etc…May we all have a safe, enjoyable day… https://tinyurl.com/2s3ktpfw 🇺🇸🙋🏻‍♀️

  4. 🙇🏻‍♂️He didn’t find it FUNNY when they told him that if he had used COMMON SENSE, and not run his MOUTH so much, he’d have realized that the SCENIC route he’d chosen was nothing more than a desolate MEADOW…🙇🏻‍♂️

🤷🏻‍♀️She dreamt of a large MEADOW, where the river’s MOUTH had been,
And when she had awakened…wondered ‘bout what she had seen…
She rarely had such SCENIC dreams..it struck her being FUNNY,
And there was something else involved… that had to do with honey…
She tried to shake it off… but she had feelings of suspense…
Wondering what it all meant..’cause it defied COMMON SENSE! 🤷🏻‍♀️

  5. 1️⃣Lincoln’s coin was the first to be pressed,
And the people were duly impressed…
    Wheat on the other side,
And it stayed there in stride…
Until ‘59 put it to rest…1️⃣

🤷🏻‍♂️A penny it’s said for your thoughts,
Just an idiom…you know the sorts…
    We’ve all heard it before,
    Was it from Thomas More?
Some say yes, while from others it’s naught…🤷🏻‍♂️

    💯 Lincoln…was born in 1809,
And T. Roosevelt said it was time…
    His centennial year,
    And the coin would appear…
Penny chosen instead of a dime! 💯

🇺🇸 Before Lincoln no man’s face had shown,
    On a U.S. coin….(not widely known)…
    Washington? A long wait,
    ‘32 was the date…
When we gave him a coin of his own…🇺🇸

🪙These years later we still pennies spend
Despite talk now and then they would end…
    Rumors it’d be replaced,
    But it’s still Lincoln’s face…
That with our other coins we do blend…🪙

  6. Today…all your postings were a wonderful history lesson. I enjoyed reading, but I’ll have to go back to check the “Ripest Apple” Jumble and see how that fits.

Finally…a Monday blind solve, and to check my work, I started on the anagrams. Two down and two to go and I ran into a brick wall. But how to back in six letters?? Well, I saw the “C”‘s in the answer and that helped with SCENIC. Then I had OME left for the last word. Took a chance with it starting with ME or MO. Cha-ching !!

I remember back in the day, when holidays were mid-week…and it was kinda fun. Wow, that law was in 1971 ?? Thanks for a great Monday posting, Angela.

  7. Good morning. Enjoyed our usual Monday Jumble. Today was no exception, no blind solve but both parts were easily done. Your song choice was right on Angela and I enjoyed all your post. A lot of interesting information. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.

  8. An easy clean sweep obvious Presidents Day Jumble with the emphasis on Lincoln and his likeness on the penny. A quick blind solve of the cartoon after a momentary pause on meadow.Only miss a reference to Washington, as it’s Presidents Day not Lincoln’s birthday holiday!

  9. Good morning , start of the week Monday ! I love to start the week out with such a SCENIC view of anagrams ! It’s so FUNNY when my MOUTH smiles , knowing that I got everything correct in the MEADOW of jumble-land ! The jumble then , did not cost me alot ! The penny with Abraham Lincoln’s picture on it , just made so much COMMON CENTS ! And i agree with Terry , Angela on your postings ! And I also agree with Paul , Angela on your song choice ! I’m a great fan of the Beatles , I’ve got a library of Paul McArtney’s songs written down on paper he had at his house when a song came to him ! Very nice ! What a great inexpensive way to start a new week out ! Everyone enjoy the start of the week Monday !!!!!
