   🔥It definitely is cold outside, there’s vapor as they breathe,
   But at a GLANCE the guy indoors, although not in shirtsleeves…
   Is walking in his stocking feet, which might stand to AFFIRM,
   That yes it’s cold…but right now there must be some wood to burn…
   There’s nothing here to make me feel UNSURE about 2 words,
   A GOPHER and a MINNOW? In this puzzle…quite absurd…
   So I’ll leave them ADRIFT today, and just make this real swift…
   How neighborly this couple is…with their HOUSEWARMING GIFT! 🔥

   The first puzzle of the New Year…and we’re HOT to trot…

   So…I remember my Grandmother always saying that if you had good neighbors you were blessed…because if you ever needed help, it’s your neighbors that would always be right there…that you’d “find first”…before family. And it’s proven to be true for me many a time over the years…Words of wisdom…And today, we’re seeing just how good good neighbors can be. On what looks to be a frigid night, this couple’s bundled up and ventured out just in case the new couple who recently moved in didn’t realize how much firewood they might need. ..KINDling…So kind, right? I know if someone did that for me, I’d definitely be STOKED…Anyway…They saw the low pile, they wanted the newbies to keep WARM…and with it being a holiday…the stores most likely all closed…they brought some of their own wood to the HOUSE….They brought over a HOUSEWARMING GIFT! …Literally! …And if I’m not mistaken, there’s a bottle of champagne in that bag..since it is New Years Eve…And David and Jeff couldn’t have made this any easier for us…I raise my glass! 🍷

   So…There you have it Folks…Done! Have a good one. Be well, be kind, stay safe…And here’s the WARMest wishes from my HOUSE to yours…🍷🙋🏻‍♀️

   * I know there’s been some controversy these past few years about the nature of this song. And make no mistake, I’m as woke as the next guy…but I chose this version just the same. 3. 🦫While ADRIFT on the water, hoping to catch a MINNOW or two, he thought about the GOPHER that he caught a GLANCE of that morning and was UNSURE what to do about it…he’d try to AFFIRM later on tonight when he visited friends to bring their HOUSEWARMING GIFT…🦫

   🤷🏻‍♂️They dubbed his business failing, the word MINNOW was used,
   And UNSURE what to do now…he’s feeling a bit abused…
   He got into the Pest Control because of that old GOPHER,
   And he doesn’t appreciate now being deemed a loafer…
   ADRIFT with thoughts that don’t AFFIRM whether he’s here nor there,
   At a GLANCE one might just assume that he has ceased to care
   It’s furthest from the truth though…and he hopes the tide will shift…
   Tonight when he meets friends to shop for a HOUSEWARMING GIFT…🤷🏻‍♂️

4. Thanks for the history lesson about the song…and you’re so right; it’s being looked at in a different light nowadays. In my readings, Frank (composer) and his wife performed this song at their parties and always delighted partygoers. Gosh I would have loved to have attended some of those soirees !! Thanks for sharing those tidbits about this Academy Award winner !!

   Was worried about todays Jumble…never like solving those long words…And today was the first puzzle of the year !! OMG. Well, it helped that we figured last word was GIFT and fireplace wood WARMS…so it was pretty easy after all. No stumbles on the anagrams added more delight to the year’s first entry.

5. Off to a good start for the new year, in spite of the length of the first word. I have wonderful neighbors. One of our local radio personalities always signs off with “Be Kind to Your Neighbors, They Know Where You Live”. Happy New Year Fellow Jumblers. 🎉

6. Good morning. Happy New Years, may it be a healthy one for all. I was able to start the new year on a great beginning. Had the words done in relative ease. I had put all the letters down and then took a look at the cartoon and was able to get the blind solve before I even started to make any words out of the 16 letters. Great start to the new year. Loved your song choice Angela. You can never go wrong with Dean. His shows were entertaining. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.

7. A great start to the New Year w a clean sweep of the anagrams and even the multi lettered cartoon.

8. A lot of things to do today and I didn’t have enough time to devote toward todays Sunday jumble but I looked at it and got the anagrams pretty good so I saw the cartoon and the fire and new neighbors gave way to a HOUSEWARMING GIFT ! Great one to start the year of 2023 !
   The song choice was excellent with the keys of history and Dean Martin , great one to head off the the year ! This whole year I will be thinking about plans or something that we could somehow put together to have a jumble family reunion to have a great time meeting all that could come ! What a great fun time ! Just something that I can’t stop thinking about ! Everyone have a great new year!
