Good Morning, Everyone…I hope this finds you well…
🎶LOOKS LIKE DAD’S ON RECORD WITH HIS OWN SPIN ON THINGS!🎶
🎶 I got no deeds to do, no promises to keep…I’m dappled and drowsy and ready to sleep…Let the morningtime drop all its petals on me… Ba da-da da-da da-da, feelin’ GROOVY…🎶 “’The 59th St Bridge Song (Feelin’ Groovy) – Simon & Garfunkel 1966 https://tinyurl.com/45by572c
🎶 We see the girls are GIVEN a warning ‘bout the noise…
It SURELY isn’t noise to them…it’s something they ENJOY…
But seems that Dad’s feelings TOWARD it…not hitting the right chord…
It’s junk to him…at his age, I guess he’s just not on board
He’d rather read his paper, maybe sit and watch a movie…
But to his girls? ..These 45’s? They definitely WERE GROOVY! 🎶
TBT? I’m still imPRESSed by hearing music come out of those GROOVES…So I can understand how people felt. And it’s the girl’s staring at the record, at the GROOVES, and her dialogue, about a song coming from them, that put the SPIN on this one…The 45’s…WERE GROOVY! https://tinyurl.com/ybj24rbb …And another solve is reached in RECORD SPEED…
Jeff’s Gems? It’s Monday, December 6th, 1954…And there’s a pennant on the wall that reads: JUMBLE ‘54 and shows a circle in a square…as in a puzzle…The Father’s paper, the Tribune, has a front page headline reading: NEW PUZZLE accompanied by an image of a Jumble puzzle. All in homage to the Jumble’s beginning. And each record has a tiny 45 written on it…But if you look real closely, you’ll see the record at bottom left, nearest the wording of our puzzle question, reads: Martin Dell and Jumble….paying homage to Mr Martin Naydel, https://tinyurl.com/ya8t3p2d the noted cartoonist https://tinyurl.com/yuc499aj who created the Jumble. https://tinyurl.com/2p9hx4vk. It’s a touching tribute…
…And if you look back at that newspaper, you’ll see an image of a football about to clear the uprights…And since we’re probably in Chicago, and the Bears did win the day before, I guess it made the front page…
So…There you have it Folks…Done. Have a good one. Be well, be kind, stay safe…and I don’t know about you, but I cherish the 45 collection I’ve inherited…I look at it as my VINYL Frontier…🎶🙋🏻♀️

🎥 It was a GIVEN that he’d laugh watching the old home movies…seeing his Grandparents ENJOY themselves, but his attitude TOWARD it all SURELY differed from theirs…especially when they kept insisting that things back then WERE GROOVY…🎥
🤷🏻♂️He walked TOWARD the train station on any GIVEN day,
He did ENJOY the time alone, SURELY ‘twas his mainstay…
He’d think back to his younger days…back when he was a juvie…
Always in trouble here and there…but convinced things WERE GROOVY…🤷🏻♂️
🤦🏻♂️Generational thing that’s for sure,
Music to one…to elders..a bore…
Kind of hard to agree,
Tastes differ, so we see…
Dad annoyed standing now at the door…🤦🏻♂️
🎶While the girls listen and are in awe,
Of the 50’s music…sans no flaw..
To their Father it’s noise,
And he lacks any poise…
As he tells them they’ve reached the last straw! 🎶
👏🏻👏🏻Buying 45’s for them a thrill,
And they found the sounds nowhere near shrill…
So their favorites they played,
The record won’t abrade…
It’s new music…not run of the mill! 👏🏻👏🏻
🤷🏻♂️From the tiny grooves, music is heard,
And excitement for our girls it stirred…
But it was pretty loud,
And Dad said..”Not allowed…
It’s just noise and I find it absurd! 🤷🏻♂️
🎶 Bottom line…45’s quite the boon,
And it came at a time none too soon…
Rock n Roll came to be,
And like these two we see…
It was def time for lovin’ new tunes! 🎶
It’s taco Tuesday ! What a great way to celebrate with a taco ! This week is starting off just like it should ! The anagrams were GIVEN to us all to ENJOY ! And SURELY I’m looking TOWARD tomorrow to continue these fun and entertaining jumbles ! WOW ! The 45 rpm records were in my era and I remember them so well ! Peace brother ! They WERE GROOVY ! This was so fun ! I remember my sisters used to have these parties and the 45’s would pile up for them to dance to ! The song choice , Simon and Garfunkel was excellent , they are one of my favorite musicians! What a great jumble and everyone have a great taco-Tuesday !!
A 1950’s nostalgia party for all the Jumblers today….way to go, and ever so GROOVY. Slapped my hand across my forehead for not getting a blind solve, even after thinking first word was WERE. Thanks for pointing out cartoon subtilties to your vast audience…interesting reading this morning.
The idea behind this Jumble is that music that comes out of a 45 rpm player was GROOVY because of the grooves on the record. But according to one source, that’s where the word comes from. Music was groovy because it came from the grooves of a 45 rpm record. But the same could be said about music from a 78 rpm record, a 33 1/3 long playing record, a compact disc (or CD), an mp3 file, or a YouTube video. So instead of songs being groovy, they could be discy (that’s where the word “disco” comes from), empethreey, or tuby (from “YouTube).
As an old 45 RPM record player guy when I was in grade school and playing my Elvis EP 45 RPM records w 2 songs per side, thus the EP- extended play label, the Jumble was a quick solve! Go Astros, if they can play before it starts snowing.
Oh, the music that comes out of those grooves
You can dance around and make moves
Such an old-fashioned way
But it had its heyday
As its long-term fascination proves!
Good morning. I did Enjoy todays Given jumble. Toward the beginning of the cartoon I had a different answer but once I buckled down I knew “were groovy” was the correct answer. Loved the song choice Angela. Boy are they young there. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.
Good Atenoon, Paul. Tk you…and I thought the same thing…sooo young. Have a good one…and stay safe out there🎶🙋🏻♀️…
Cool puzzle this morning. The Simon & Garfunkel song was a perfect choice. I saw the Smothers Brothers in the 60’s at a local night club called the Hungry I (Hungry Intellectual). They were super funny.
