💥 OURS IS NOT TO REASON WHY…OURS IS BUT TO…OBEY OUR MOMS!💥
Today’s puzzle with its 4th of July theme is a simple one if you’re familiar with the common idiom, A WORD TO THE WISE. http://tinyurl.com/2ts4wthb The quotation marks gave us the heads up that there’d be a play on words with WISE, changing it to “WHYS”, in regards to the little girls many questions. And it was an easy segue to an automatic solve with David’s way too obvious of an effort to refrain from using the word WHY in said questions. Usually we’d hear, “But WHY won’t you”, “But WHY is it”, etc…But each of Mom’s replies are the reasons WHY…and between her dialogue and that of the other woman, it definitely paved the way for…WORDS TO THE “WHYS”, since the idiom refers to advice…which they’re both “providing”… Very clever…
As for the Gems…Jeff’s given us the unlit sparkler that the little girl is holding, and we can see two barefoot older children in the background waving lighted ones. A fireworks display can be seen in the night sky, and off to the right, way in the distance, there’s a statue of what appears to be a military man on horseback, which can be found in many an American park.

And all of them were YELLOW… you could FIGURE…no allure…
The STITCH in time old saying went no HIGHER with this crew,

Good Sunday morning ! I got in late today , so I had to pressure my brain quickly and I had trouble with NOBODY and FIGURE ! But by I might have gotten them if I didn’t push to get them so quickly ! They were fun ! The jumble was really a good one ! I almost got it but couldn’t see all the words , a very clever play on words ! So everyone have a great Sunday ! We watch our fireworks tonight , it usually is pretty good ! Have a great day !!!
Good morning all ! The anagrams were pretty easy, had to really put my thinking cap on for weasel and figure, and if you’ve ever had a child go through the questioning stage – you can understand this mom and her “WORDS TO THE WHYS ” ! Really great and so true ! So until tomorrow, have a sunny day and eat lots of hot dogs and mac salad – have fun today !
Just a bit too cryptic for me today….no blind solve but anagrams solved speedily. But that didn’t help !!! Glommed onto “TO HER”, but that left only one vowel for the other words. So with that, should have picked up on the WHYS …Ergo, but just couldn’t see it. . Have a great Sunday.
A big almost. I had the anagrams solved and the first 3 cartoon answers, “words to the” but was stumped by the last word ,’whys’.
I guess the quotes did me in , as did the absence of my real paper this morning.
Good morning. Not too much trouble with the words and actually had the last word Whys on the cartoon answer but not knowing if I was right I took the easy way out and looked up the rest of the answer. Have a great Sunday and a safe Fourth of July. Take care

For some reason I saw the first word as lowely which of course isn’t spelled correctly so ended up with a y instead of another w. Figured out the cartoon answer and backtracked to find yellow. We’re experiencing our typical July weather in San Francisco, foggy mornings and nights so most likely tomorrow night we’ll hear the fireworks cannon go off but alas no actual display.
