  1. Good Morning, Everyone.. ⭐️THIS ONE WAR ME DOWN ⭐️

🎶 At first I was afraid, I was petrified?..kept thinking I could never live without you by my side… But I GREW STRONG…And I learned how to get along…Oh no, not I, I WILL SURVIVE…🎶 “I Will Survive” – Gloria Gaynor 1978 https://tinyurl.com/mr4dk4e2

⭐️The year was 1942, MacArthur would EMERGE,
A hero to the battle-worn as World War II did surge,
He’d plant words as a KERNEL, and planned for them to grow,
With war there’s hardly GRATIS…but you reap after you sow…
Like SALMON swimming upstream, he’d need strength to see things through,
He left the Philippines and in Australia bid adieu,
The wheels within his mind’s ENGINE were working overtime,
MacArthur gave a speech hoping support was his to find…
He’d need to have a PANTRY stocked…the stench of war was reeking…
“I shall return” his famous words…then and now GENERALLY SPEAKING…⭐️

GENERAL MacArthur’s HISTORY is legendary. https://tinyurl.com/ym9yskwv And he did keep his promise…but I promise this won’t be a History lesson. If you know, you know. If you don’t…well here’s a link…. https://tinyurl.com/2p835nx6 I’m fighting my own BATTLES, and there’s hardly enough time here today to CONQUER much more than our puzzle…

So…We’ve four new anagrams to do BATTLE with today, with the two STALWARTs being RELENK, with a long Jumble HISTORY, and last seen in 2016, and GEEEMR, last seen in 2020. And while none of them WARranted any head scratching amongst the Early Birds, there was talk of KERNEL planting a tiny SEED of doubt…(I think it’s the RE lead-in that might cause a slow RETURN)…The solve though? With our dialogue…”COMMAND”, “FIVE STAR”…(MacArthur being a 5-Star GENERAL, which if looking closely you can see them on his shoulder board )…our question stating “One of the best military quotes of all time”, and MacArthur himself seen SPEAKING said quote, “I Shall Return”…This was another solve served up on a silver PATTON, I mean Paten…Oh, wait…sorry, wrong General….Anyway, the bottom line? GENERALLY SPEAKING…And as far as solves go, this one RANKS right up there with the best of them…

And I searched Folks…but alas…no Sinking Sailboat shown on the water today…but I’m sure it SHALL RETURN…

So…There you have it Folks..Done. Have a good one. Be well, stay safe…and let’s pray that the war being waged on the good people of Ukraine soon comes to an end…⭐️🙋🏻‍♀️

    I STAND WITH UKRAINE 💔🇺🇦

  3. 🤦🏻‍♀️ GENERALLY SPEAKING, the issue was more than sensing the roar of an ENGINE in her ears as she took refuge amongst the many GRATIS cans of SALMON in the PANTRY…but right now she had to figure out how to gracefully EMERGE with at least a KERNEL of dignity…🤦🏻‍♀️

🥘 Advertised as GRATIS, was the KERNEL motivation,
He’d stock up on enough SALMON to feed a third world nation…
His PANTRY full of spices, just waiting to EMERGE,
And money saved? His truck ENGINE…could definitely use a surge
It just might work this plan of his…that he’d been quietly seeking…
He’d get to ”feed” both himself and his pocket.…GENERALLY SPEAKING!🥘

  4. 👨🏻‍✈️ While war’s nothing more than outright hell,
There are men who sometimes do excel…
    And MacArthur was one,
    Finished what had begun…
And he lived for his story to tell…👨🏻‍✈️

☀️ One of few honored to wear 5 stars,
MacArthur had raised a high bar…
    He did our country proud,
    Victory he avowed…
    As his reputation reached afar..☀️

🤷🏻‍♂️ ‘Twas Korea that led to downfall,
When remarks made led to his recall…
    Harry Truman said “No…
    You’re not running this show”…
And he called him on his open gall…🤷🏻‍♂️

  5. Sometimes it helps to know little about a subject. All I could think of was General. But Gratis and Salmon took me a long time. Backing into them was made harder because they both have an “a” and  an “s”  needed for the answer.  Got a big kick out of your silver Patton and sinking sailboat shall return lines, Angela. Wishing all a fun Sunday.

  6. Looked at puzzle and initially no clue….then when GENERAL came to mind, got the blind solve. Started on the anagrams and it was easy pickin’s until GRATIS came along. Have to admit I had to look up that word. It was a fun Jumble and will await the new week’s puzzle on Monday morning.

  7. Seems McArthur was one of a kind
For sure, a very rare find
    All over the Pacific
    Troops thought him terrific
    Prepared to follow him blind.

They hung on his every word
    Nothing he said was absurd.
But now, making a speech is dreaded
    On social media shredded
    And the meaning? Completely blurred!

Thank you Angela for all the information on McArthur. I learned a lot.

    • …A matter of opinion…and of course you’re free to have yours! ⭐️🙋🏻‍♀️

    • “Free, gratis and for nothing” is an often-used expression. I think it is safe to say that gratis is a legitimate word.

      • The person’s not questioning it’s legitimacy, but whether or not it’s a “common” word. I suppose it depends on the extent of one’s vocabulary.🤷🏻‍♀️

        • I think gratis is quite a common word too, although not so much so for a younger demographic or those for whom English is a second or subsequent language. Latin/other language root words tend to be more familiar to those who have had a “traditional” education, based largely on the culture of countries in the west. I tend to use words/expressions like “déjà vu” or “fait accompli” without thinking about it but I’m sometimes aware that listeners have no idea what I’m talking about.

  8. Good morning. Took me forever to come up with all the words so when I finally got to the cartoon answer and having no clue I gave up after five minutes. Enjoyed your song choice Angela. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.

    • Good Morning, Paul. Tk you. And I’m sure you’ll find tomorrow’s easy, breezy…Be well and stay safe…⭐️🙋🏻‍♀️

  9. Paused at gratis. Thought of general and then generally right away so the rest of the cartoon solution came easily. Happy Sunday to all !
