Good Morning, Everyone…I hope this finds you well…
💃🏻 LAST TANGO FOR HARRIS? 💃🏻
🎶 You can get very old by yourself…Catch a fish or a cold by yourself…Dig a ditch or strike it rich all by yourself…There are lots of things that you can do alone… But it takes TWO TO TANGO, TWO TO TANGO…Two to really get the feeling of romance…Two to TANGO, two to TANGO do the dance of love…🎶…“Two to Tango” – Mr Ray Charles & Betty Carter 1961 https://tinyurl.com/2s483cju
💃🏻 Looks like we have a problem…Our two? Different INTENT,
Our girl wants light fantastic…while our guy wants life light spent…
Those days of HUDDLE cuddle seem to now have passed them by,
What she may CLAMOR for now’s leaving her just high and dry…
She’d like to take a MALLET sometimes, whack him on the head,
He’s so full of excuses…and long nights she now does dread…
He’ll sit and eat a MUFFIN, doing puzzles hours on end,
The boredom though is getting her…driving her round the bend…
And she knows that it doesn’t pay to INSIST that he dance,
He’d rather do his puzzles than rekindle their romance
Maybe she just should go alone, why end up on a shelf?
I’m sure she’ll find a partner…who won’t just ”DIS-DANCE” HIMSELF! 💃🏻
So, once again today a split decision with our anagrams. SITNIS goes back to 2013, while MARLOC and FMNUIF were both last seen in 2019. And while all of them are very well scrambled, none of them tripped us up. As for the solve? Between our girl, who I’ll call Joy, and Harris’s dialogue where he’s “DIS-SING” https://tinyurl.com/5ddz3afh the idea of DANCE lessons, this one was easy to STEP up to….Actually it gives us a double play on words…The “DISS” and him putting enough DISTANCE between him and that Tango suggestion to definitely “DIS-DANCE” HIMSELF…
Our cartoon…There’s a faint image of what looks like the Jumble on the darkened bottom page of the newspaper, and a wedding picture of our couple in happier times…But they’re definitely a contrasting study now. Joy… bubbly, smiling, trying to CASTANET over Harris and get him out of his chair;…he side-STEPping her wanting to Tango with a LATINy…I mean a litany of excuses…Gout? Shoes? …The Jumble? Not wise Harris, being such a killJOY…You may just end up eating your words! Joy’s already dressed and she’s wearing red heels👠 …and we women don’t put those heels on for nothing…I do think Joy may just teach Harris a LESSON of his own!
So…There you have it, Folks…Done. Have a good one. Be well, stay safe…and keep in mind that it’s always wise to add a little SALSA https://tinyurl.com/bdz2s39e to your life..You know, just in QUESO…💃🏻🙋🏻♀️
PS: So, ok…Our guy Harris might not be feeling the way Frank does…but I just couldn’t resist… https://tinyurl.com/2p8n3p5t 🙋🏻♀️
A LITTLE SUNDAY BONUS…💃🏻
While the Tango’s from Argentina, and the Mambo Cuba, they’re both Latin dances, which usually fall under the umbrella of Salsa dancing. So in keeping with today’s theme, I pulled another old Honeymooners out of the vault. This is an entire episode from Match 3rd,1956, entitled, “Mama Loves Mambo”….run time about 30 minutes. And I couldn’t help but laugh with the comparison to today’s puzzle…NJEYO! 💃🏻👠🙋🏻♀️
TWO – TO TANGO…You know how you can hear a phrase or see an image and it automatically seems sooooo familiar? Eerily familiar? You know that old voodoo déjà vu? Well, as soon as I saw today’s puzzle, that bell started ringing…I felt so sure that I’d seen a couple who looked like our Joy and Harris…So I searched. And sure enough, back on November 2nd, 2018, there they were…And here they are… https://tinyurl.com/2p896re2 💃🏻🙋🏻♀️
👷🏻♂️ Knowing the crew boss wanted to DISTANCE HIMSELF from them until he’d had his MUFFIN and coffee, and would INSIST that there be control over the CLAMOR, they drew into a HUDDLE, and came out with the INTENT of trying to muffle the sound of the MALLET they needed to use…👷🏻♂️
🤷🏻♂️His son wanted a MALLET, his INTENT was just to play,
He made believe he worked like the “hard hats” he saw each day…
He and his friends would HUDDLE in the yard and CLAMOR ‘round,
And INSIST that they each took turns…hammering in the ground…
The Father though liked to relax, a book…MUFFIN…strong brew,
If he bought the said mallet..would it cause noise all anew?
They’re definitely not bad kids, just quite noisy little elves…
But truth be told… there were times he’d love to DISTANCE HIMSELF!🤷🏻♂️
Good morning ! It’s Sunday Funday ! Well I’m gonna be quick and Dis Tant myself with this one . My wife and I made a HUDDLE and hit the MALLET down loud , cause our INTENT was not to CLAMOR ! So I INSIST we eat a MUFFIN , that’s all we can say about this one , so we’re going to Tango out ! Have a Funday Sunday !!!
You too, Jim! 💃🏻🙋🏻♀️
If you’re out for a little romance
I’m not going to take a chance
I’ll just sit in my chair
I’m better off there
So for you it’s a solo dance!
I don’t want to trip and stumble
While I haven’t finished the Jumble
And my feet are so sore
Can’t bear my shoes any more
But I’m more than happy to grumble!!
👍🏻🙋🏻♀️
Cryptic enough puzzle to puzzle both of us this morning. Knew DANCE had to be there but just couldn’t make it work !!! Thought about CLASSES but only one S. Anyway, all the anagrams were speedily unscrambled so I’ll give a hi-five for that. Good song, Angela. See you all Monday morning.
Tks, Terry! 💃🏻🙋🏻♀️
Happy Sunday everyone, especially you little bro, Jim. I must “insist” I definitely needed a “muffin” after todays Jumble. But as I got in to it – I came to realize I didn’t need to take a “mallet” to it ! My “intent” was to “huddle” with my brain until I got it – then I “dis-danced” myself until tomorrow ! Even my beautiful Swiss Mountain dog, Molly, was of little help today ! Oh well, it was still fun , until tomorrow – maybe Molly will be more help this time – have a blessed day !
Same to you, Suz..💃🏻🙋🏻♀️
Had no chance on the puzzle solve but the anagrams quickly danced into my head. Just glad to get Sunday slow enough to get the words done. Springlike on the Plains today but weather will really bite next week. When it comes to the Tango, my mind drifts back to the Addams Family with Gomez and Morticia. Stay safe and warm. It’s only about 29 days until Spring.
Wishing you the same, OO. 💃🏻🙋🏻♀️
Clamor got me as did the cartoon answer, too many letters for me along with the disjointed first words.
👍🏻🙋🏻♀️
🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♂️Harris sits there…his response a pout,
Talks of Jumbles and shoes and of gout…
Joy is dressed to the nines,
And she may just go find…
Someone who is willing to go out! 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♀️
💃🏻🕺🏻Two to Tango, yes we’ve heard the phrase,
And here’s Joy thinking of the old days…
When together they’d dance,
As part of their romance…
But to Harris? He’s way past that phase! 🕺🏻💃🏻
👠Fancy dress…wearing killer red heels,
Joy is told, “Sorry, but it’s no deal..
I’m content in my chair,
Plus I’ve no shoes to wear…
Tango dancing? For me no appeal”! 👠
Good morning. With good intent I solved all the words not willing to give up and take the high road but on the cartoon answer I just had to give in. Too many letters especially since there was one in quotations. I could have stayed with it a lifetime and still come up empty. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.
Good Morning, Paul…Wishing you the same. 💃🏻🙋🏻♀️
This Jumble really tripped up a lot of people.
I managed to solve the puzzle when I pulled out dance; himself came to me – then I solved the last three letters.
The large group that did Huddle in the far corner of the room did Clamor for a snack like a Muffin of choice. The president had to use his Mallet to quiet the group and Insist on getting to the Intent of the meeting in the first place. Take care.
👍🏻! You too, Paul..💃🏻🙋🏻♀️
Sorry I’m late to the party, but did anyone notice the misspelling in the cartoon character’s list of excuses for not dancing? His gout could have a chance to flare up for sure, not “flair” up!
Hi Ed. Good Morning…I believe the misspelling may have appeared in some online versions of the puzzle, but the word was spelled correctly in my newspaper. Where are you seeing the error? 🙋🏻♀️
Aha! So I’m guessing some “retractions” were sent out, but some papers/online services either didn’t catch it or just didn’t apply the correction? I did see the error in the print edition of the San Diego Union-Tribune, which I clipped and uploaded here. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1KPBBbrLGPpvDLbvKLhpqBUpuvLbG19NG/view?usp=sharing
Hi Ed…Yes, as I mentioned to you this morning, it showed up in some places on line and in the related papers, but not in others, and I did see this in the online SD Trib…But I’m just the messenger, so I’ve no way to know if there were retractions or not…🤷🏻♀️
