  1. Good Morning, Everyone! šŸˆPIGSKIN…AND THE THIN SKIN?šŸˆ

    šŸŽ¶ Many a TEAR has to fall… but it’s all IN THE GAMEā€¦šŸŽ¶ ā€œIn The Gameā€ – Tommy Edwards 1958 https://tinyurl.com/u7nups

šŸˆ The teams they have their rankings, oddsmakers did their thing,
A game goes off with fans feeling their team a win will bring…
There’s trash talk goes on, some quite BLUNT, fans all get in their jabs,
And #1 teams SPELL it outā€¦ā€This game’s not up for grabsā€ā€¦
So yes, it may be UNJUST, or PURELY lack of luck,
When that team who’s ranked #1 now’s left to pass the buck
All eggs were in one basket, and yet they no way did get…
The win that looked the sure-shot…Fans? UPSET BY THE UPSET! šŸˆ

So, our words. They’ve all been in PLAY before, but we do have three new anagrams. The old timer? SLEPL, RUNNING from BACK in 2017. ….And except for an Early Bird first seeing Sleep…before he rubbed it out of his eyes…it was all a WIN. And the solve? As a sports fan? I’d say there was no reason to get UPSET at all…

Ok…Let’s KICK this off…Seen leaving the big game, we find our State fans forlorn and fugazied.** Thinking they had it in the bag, they’re totally in shock having witnessed their team lose to the underdog Jumblers. And by a score of 28-27! Could it be any more of an insult…having the lowly guest team pull it off by one point? Hardly. These fans are so not used to losing…And the tip on the top of that number 1 definitely stings! No one expected an UPSET https://tinyurl.com/4xsjmtdu like this… So suffice to say…The State fans are UPSET…UPSET BY THE UPSET!

Jeff’s Gems? For one, there IS crying in Football. There’s crying in every kind of ball…we just try to deny it. But our girl, in her State jersey, with her football earrings dangling, is doing her part to live up to the truth. Her partner? He’s taking a PASS on the night’s activities. The two men at left…Totally dejected. And the Big Kahuna, flip-flop footed, bare-chested, logo-etched and holding what’s now proven to be his fickle finger of fate foam tribute? Well he’s feeling as small as the ā€œSā€ logo on his shorts…I wonder how much he may have bet? Probably lost his shirt! https://tinyurl.com/fysntp5d And the sole Jumbler fan…off to the right, decked out in his ā€œJā€ jersey and shorts, triumphantly talking that aforementioned trash? Speaks for itself, doesn’t it…But you know what caught my eye? If you look real, real closely…alone out on the field…Could that be the dejected Quarterback, head bowed, licking his wounds? Might be…I guess the YARDS just weren’t in his favor…

So…There you have it Folks…Done! GO LONG, I mean so long…Have a good one. Be well, stay safe…and keep in mind…If you are going to put all your eggs in that one basket? ..Make sure you’re hard-boiled enough to deal with whatever the END result is cracked up to beā€¦šŸˆšŸ™‹šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

  2. šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļøļ»æHe knew they were UPSET BY THE UPSET, and he didn’t mean to seem UNJUST, but he had to be BLUNT and SPELL it out for them, since he felt that they had acted PURELY out of greedā€¦šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļøHe knew that it was PURELY a result of her raw nerves,
She held the BLUNT side of the knife where it could surely swerve…
But as if she were in a SPELL, she cut herself real deep,
And yes, it seemed UNJUST, but now this dinner couldn’t keep…
He told her she could come back, but for now with deep regret…
She’d have to go …and they both were UPSET BY THE UPSET!šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

  3. PURELY, I don’t think I’ve ever used that word , let alone SPELL it ! To be BLUNT , it was so UNJUST ! No not really, I’m not UPSET , I just wanted to use the words in a sentence because šŸŽ¶ We are the champions my friend šŸŽµ, and we’ll keep on fighting till the end šŸŽ¶ Have a good ā€œ Hump – Day ā€œ on way to the weekend !!!!!

  4. Astro’s Fans are UPSET BY the UPSET last night. To be BLUNT, it was PURELY a case of the Braves having them under their SPELL. Another loss tonight would be quite UNJUST.

    • Spoken as a true Astro’s fan! Have a good one, Brad! āš¾ļøšŸ™‹šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

  5. Just one of those days…..3 outta 4 for the anagrams and puzzle NOT solved. Had to look up PURELY. Will slink off to the corner after today’s lackluster performance. At least it’s raining in central Texas, so I got that goin’ for me !!! Great song choice

    • You’re not alone, Terry…I think it’s raining all over…Tks for the Shout Out…And here’s looking to tomorrow…another day, another Jumble! šŸˆšŸ™‹šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

  6. Good morning. Another good day with jumble. No problem with the words or cartoon answer but not a blind solve. Thanks Angela for the great song, it transported me back in time to fine memories. It’s amazing how certain songs can do that. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.

    • Good Morning, Brooklyn…YW…I knew you’d enjoy it…And how great that music does this for us? We’d be lost without music…Hoping you’re well and safe too…And here’s hoping we’ve seen the last of this crazy weather! Have a good one, Paulā€¦šŸˆšŸ™‹šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

  7. Crafty cartoon this morning brought a smile to my face. The fans being Upset By the Upset are Purely focused on the Blunt, but not Unjust, outcome that will Spell doom for their season. My song choice is “You Gotta Be a Football Hero” to get along with the beautiful girls! Not much football heroics on the Great Plains of Nebraska again but hope springs eternal. Lots of rain but not a Nor’easter. We just have tornadoes, blizzards, dust storms and floods. OK, now I am as bummed as those State fans. Go team, go!

    • Hope springs eternal…A NY sports fan’s mantra! šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø And I enjoyed today’s cartoon too…it’s definitely a keeper. Enjoy your day, OO…And stay safe out there! šŸˆšŸ™‹šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

  8. They’re known as a fair weather fan
They were there when the wins began
But they sulk and they frown
When the team lets them down
‘Cause defeat is not part of their plan!

    • Hi Helen…Hope you have a great day! šŸ™‹šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

      šŸˆWhile confidence carries great weight,
It’s the cockiness up for debate…
      Just because you’re the best,
      You can’t discount the rest….
And just figure that you’ll always skate! šŸˆ

šŸˆ #1 is a most cherished spot,
It feels good to be top of the lot…
But you can’t drop the ball,
      For the mighty do fall…
And your perfect record? Easily shotā€¦šŸˆ

šŸˆ They went into the game feeling smug,
Thoughts of losing? Addressed with a shrug…
      But the underdog came,
And went home with the game…
That bravado? Its own hole it dug! šŸˆ

      • Good limericks Angela. A brilliantly sunny day her after a lot of rain so gardens are still blooming.

        • Tk you, Helen. We’re seeing a bit of sun…but it may be short-livedā€¦šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

  9. Hi Everyone – I was having trouble trying Up as the two-letter word. Once I found By, it all came together, though I still had to back into Purely. Perfect song choice, Angela. Love the oldies.

    • Good Morning, Caroline. Thank you…Here’s to a great day! šŸˆšŸ™‹šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

  10. Anagrams came rather quickly, even purely, but I was surprised by the repeat use of the same word, upset,in the cartoon solution.I was also disappointed by the Astro loss least night,Hard to believe the lead off HR,was the first ever in a game 1 of a WS.

    • But a pleasant surprise, right Professor? Definitely a witty solve! Enjoy your day, Prof. Be well and stay safe out thereā€¦šŸˆšŸ™‹šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

  11. When I saw a bunch of U’s in the anagrams, I felt an upset could happen; and I was right, not only once, but twice. Love it when the guys use a word multiple times in the solution as they did today. Regards from South Georgia, and Go Braves and #1 Georgia Dawgs!!!

    • ā€œUā€ got that right, Alan! A great solve! Have a good oneā€¦šŸˆšŸ™‹šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

  12. How can I be UPSET BY my quick blind solve! A very good answer to a loss. Congrats to the one who came up with it.
Finally a nice sunny day although a bit cool… Can’t complain, after all it’s the end of October!
As a Yankee fan from 1950, I’m certainly not UPSET by Houston’s lost! T’was PURELY a joy to watch!
    Christian

    • Good Morning, Christian..David never ceases to amaze me, it’s a great answer! Enjoy the sunshine…we’re still waiting for some down here…Take care, Christian…and have a great day! šŸˆšŸ™‹šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

  13. Good puzzle this morning. Second day in a row where I misplaced letters initially seeing spell as sleep. Figured out that ā€œbyā€ would be the two letter word which left me with upset and ā€œupletā€™ā€ Once I straightened that out, all was A-Okay. No matter the outcome of any game, one group of fans is always upset. Hope all of you have a good day and that you East Coasters are weathering the storms without damage.

    • Hi Betty…And for the second day in a row you’ve seen the same exact thing as my friend…He thought awaken y’day, and sleep today…Hmm..šŸ˜‰ And yes, there’s no way we all win in sports…although some of us are much more gracious in losing! We’ve had a lot more practice! šŸ˜‚ Things are quieting down here, thank you…but as we spoke about y’dayā€¦ā€they’reā€ already talking about the next storm that’s looming…You just can’t WIN! Have a good one, Betty. Be well, and stay safeā€¦šŸ’¦šŸˆšŸ™‹šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø
