Good Morning, Everyone 🏈 FIELD OF DREAMS? 🏈
🎶 My head keeps spinnin’…I go to sleep and keep grinnin’…If this is just the BEGINNIN’..My life is gonna be beautiful… Tell me quick, oh, ain’t love a kick?…Tell me quick, ain’t love A KICK in the head?…🎶 “Ain’t That A Kick in The Head” – Dean Martin 1960
🏈 A brand new Football field is built, excitement does abound,
There’s even a new KIOSK, where some souvenirs are found…
The other field grew FILTHY, despite how hard they tried,
To keep the look presentable, they didn’t let things slide…
But all the work was worth the FIGHT…to get them the best bid,
They dealt with in-laws, uncles, and a COUSIN of some kid…
They weeded out the charlatans…and yes, there were some scoffs…
But now it’s done and finally it’s time to KICK THINGS OFF! 🏈
Football….We were just playing on Thursday….It’s a mini BLITZ! …Ok, so I’m just gonna lay it on the LINE. I’m really tired, and I have a pain that keeps RUNNING through the BACK of my head…So I’m going to dispense with all the formalities and make this quick…
Except for a FLAG DOWN on FILTHY, which a few of the guys saw as Flighty, this was all a SNAP. In fact, I could go as LONG, I mean as far, as to say that they had a FIELD day with the entire puzzle….And we all got a kick out of it…And speaking of KICK, that’s what set the BALL IN MOTION…The excitement over christening the new field? The players seen on the field ready for the KICK OFF? The dialogue…”Let’s go”…It all led right to the solve…KICK THINGS OFF…Another Jumble TOUCHDOWN…
And our cartoon…Two friends high-fiving, the one at left sporting eye black, and a female fan in a jersey, arms raised, cheering at right. And the stands across from them half-filled…And that brings me to my END ZONE…
So, There you have it Folks, Done. Have a good one. Be well, stay safe…and I hope your day KICKS OFF to a great start…🏈🙋🏻♀️
Forgot to mention Angela’s excellent song …another star song penned by the very creative Jimmy Van Heusen. Think Sammy Cahn did lyrics…those boys were just gushing forth standards in the Rat Pack heyday.
Terry…Sammy Cahn for sure….And gushing forth indeed! Such amazing talent, right?… I would have paid good money to perhaps have worked with them….I’m glad you enjoyed it, and thanks for the Shout Out…Enjoy your day, Terry! 🏈🙋🏻♀️
His COUSIN had to delay the opening of his new KIOSK because the contractor left behind such a FILTHY mess…and now he intended to FIGHT him for a discount before he could KICK THINGS OFF…🙇🏻♂️
🤷🏻♂️ He opened up a KIOSK, it made him FILTHY rich,
And everyone was asking what he used as a sales pitch…
His COUSIN was so jealous, he started up a FIGHT,
(This man…a complete failure…nothing of his turned out right)…
He lived a life of constant strife…a series of all troughs…
Not like his cousin in the least…he’d never KICK THINGS OFF…🤷🏻♂️
How apropos that today we celebrate NATIONAL SPORTS DAY…I guess our puzzle is definitely on the BALL! Have a great day, Sports Fans! NOYEJ! …🏈⚾️🏒🏀…🙋🏻♀️ https://tinyurl.com/5x5npe3x
AND OUT OF THE ARCHIVES…🏈🙋🏻♀️
Not a perfect match, but on Super Bowl Sunday, February 1st, 2015… “When it came to watching the Super Bowl on TV, the pre-game show”…KICKED THINGS OFF.
No prob with the anagrams but couldn’t solve the cartoon solution.
Dodgers downed the Giants last night, OK!
Next up, Braves. Should be fun fun fun.
We could end up facing the Asstros in the World Series. Bring it on, Altuve!
Have a good night, Mig…🏈🙋🏻♀️
Good morning. A continuation of the entire week. No problem on the words but had to use the letters to solve the cartoon answer. Once I put the letters down the first and last words were quite visible. Remaining letters gave me the last word. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe. P.S. Just realized I hadn’t checked the song for today. Now ain’t that a kick in the head. Perfect Angie. Take care.
Good Morning, Paul. Definitely an easy week..too easy in fact…And thank you..I’m glad you enjoyed my song choice…but I’m gonna tell myself that you made a typo spelling my name…😉 Have a good one, Paul. Be well and stay safe…🏈🙋🏻♀️
As the fans begin to pour through
And take in the breathtaking view
When their team starts to score
Oh, the deafening roar
Will fill the field all spiffy and new!
🏈When pride in your school you possess,
And your sports teams are known for prowess…
A new field does elate,
And this one is top rate…
Students joy very hard to repress! 🏈
🏈 The excitement that comes with a game,
For most fans impossible to restrain…
And our fans here today,
Will not be kept at bay…
Joy that’s impossible to be feigned! 🏈
🏈 With a kick is how football does start,
And our fans here are doing their part…
For they’ll cheer and they’ll shout,
It’s what football’s about…
When your team is that close to your heart…🏈
🏈 A new field is our theme for today,
We see fans watching their team at play…
They say the field looks great,
Their joy knows no abate…
Pride in their team is def on display! 🏈
🏈 Jumble Football, we’ve seen o’er the years,
And its meaning has become quite clear…
We know Jeff’s a big fan,
With the panels he’s ran?
It’s the U of M team that he cheers! 🏈
Looking how the players were lined up on the field ready for the kick off gave me the blind solve. Love that song, Angela. I have it as the ring tone when my wife calls.
Hi Don…I agree…Jeff “lined” it up perfectly! And what a great ringtone! 👏🏻👏🏻! I love the song too, it’s been on my playlist for years. I could listen to Dean all day…his phrasing gets me every time. Thanks for commenting, Don. Enjoy your day..and stay safe out there…🏈🙋🏻♀️
Instead of ‘None of above’ it could be ‘I scored on Tochdown on this one’
Anagrams were a quick solve, even kiosk, which looked funny at first.Kick was an obvious first word, quickly followed by the complete solution, which was unusual for me ,as that many letters ususlly give me trouble.A cool frosty 39 degree morning in Illinois this morning.Brrrr.
Good afternoon Chuck. Our temperature today is 74 which almost makes it a perfect beach day. Stay warm!
Easy solve this morning. With the two K’s and the two F’s, as well as a scarcity of vowels Kick and Off were obvious, leaving only Things. It’s been a fun week. Our SF Giants lost the other night but since there’s no crying 😢 in ⚾️ baseball, there’s always next year! Hope all of you have a good day.
Hi Betty…Definitely a fun week…and I’m pretty sure you’re going to get a KICK out of tomorrow’s puzzle! 😉 Wishing you a good one too, Betty…Enjoy! …🏈🙋🏻♀️
“None of the above”? It should have been “None of the above. It was a SNAP!” 😀
Good one David! I’m sure we’ll have plenty more football cartoons with it being so early in the season and will keep it in mind for the next one. Thanks for the suggestion.
Another NO Blind Solve this morning…figured the KICK and OFF….Thought THINGS might be a little too pedestrian for a solve. Boy, was i wrong. Speedily unsolved anagrams to show otherwise.
Hey Terry…As long as you got it solved..it’s all good. Hope you’re feeling well..Take care and have a good one! 🏈🙋🏻♀️
The picture didn’t fit the answer. What was the point of having them “slapping” hands like they were high-fiving each other?
Hi Nancy. Because they “WERE” high-fiving one another…they were showing their excitement for the Kick Off of their brand new field AND the KICKOFF of the game. And for any football fan, the “opening KICKOFF” is an exhilarating start to any game. Also, if you look on the field, you’ll see that the players are lined up to do just that…KICK THINGS OFF…The phrase was well represented with both it’s meanings… Be well, Nancy…and stay safe out there…🏈🙋🏻♀️
