Good Morning, Everyone! 🐶 HOT DIGGITY- DOG DIGGITY🐶
🎶 Please UNLEASH me, let me go…For I don’t love you anymore…🎶 “Release Me” – (with apologies to) Engelbert Humperdinck 1967 https://tinyurl.com/dmzm4xb
🐶 Now who could HARDLY blame poor Rex…I mean enough’s ENOUGH,
He’s usually not UNRULY, but c’mon this heat is “ruff”…
You wouldn’t find a RODENT walking out there in this heat,
And old Rex here is no fool…he’d be burning both his feet!
He’d rather stay indoors where there’s the WHOOSH of nice cool air,
And ACCESS to some water…But…she wants to go out there?
Let’s face it Folks, put on a leash? No…bet your bottom dollar…
There’s no way that he’s buying it…he’s HOT UNDER THE COLLAR! 🐶
So…First thought that came to mind…Remember that old Honeymooners’ skit? Do you know the one I’m thinking of? No? Ok…watch this… https://tinyurl.com/bwyc658 And the funniest part? Alice’s deadpan expressions. How Ralph HOUNDed her…and how she managed to keep a straight face through half of those shows, is beyond me…The outtakes alone must have been hilarious! Ok..and after that brief PAWS…Let’s ROLL OVER to our words…
As has been the case the past few days, today David’s unLEASHED all old words. And we have one old anagram that I’ve FETCHED out of the vault: LUURYN, seen on both July 27th, 2014, and Christmas Eve, 2015. And UU’ll note, that just as yesterday, it contains two UUs, placed together. CoUld this a new trend? Who knows…Anyway, between UNRULY and WHOOSH, a few of the Early Birds BARKED…I mean balked. But when it came to the solve?…They all agreed that it was a WALK in the park…
So, the Dog Days of Summer… https://tinyurl.com/59epc28u And let’s be honest Folks, can you blame this PAW dog here?.…Go for a walk? With that sun seen blazing down from the sky? No way…And as Rex digs his heels in, MUTTering as much and losing his COOL, he’s heard letting his owner know that she’s BARKING up the wrong FLEA…and we hear her agreeing that she’ll wait until the sun goes down. So she may as well take that leash and COLLAR off him…since he’s HOT UNDER THE COLLAR! https://tinyurl.com/xrn2dpbn
So, There you have it Folks, Sun…I mean Done! Have a great day, Everyone. Be well, stay safe…and here’s to keeping our cool in this heat…🔥🐶🙋🏻♀️
OUT OF THE ARCHIVES…🙋🏻♀️
The puzzle of May 2nd, 2010. The question…”What the diners got when their meals arrived cold”…The solve…HOT UNDER (THE) COLLAR!
🤦🏻♀️ Growing HOT UNDER THE COLLAR, from attempting to catch the UNRULY RODENT that had gained ACCESS to her home, was more than ENOUGH to try her nerves, and HARDLY what she’d planned for the day…and then suddenly…”WHOOSH” was heard from the trap…🤦🏻♀️
🤷🏻♂️ A RODENT got into the class, the kids became UNRULY,
He’d had ENOUGH of all the noise…and some kids acting cruelly…
The WHOOSH of spitballs flung about, was HARDLY apropos,
The rodent gaining ACCESS…had caused real chaos to flow
He needed to act quickly…the room approaching squalor…
And he was at his breaking point…def HOT UNDER THE COLLAR! 🤷🏻♂️
On This Day in History: AUGUST 8th
-(1815) Napoleon Bonaparte set sail for St. Helena to spend the remainder of his days in exile.
-(1876) Thomas Edison received a patent (#180,857) for the mimeograph. The mimeograph was a “method of preparing autographic stencils for printing.”
-(1969) At a ‘zebra crossing’ in London, photographer Iain Macmillan took one of the most famous photographs of all time, the cover of the Beatles album, Abbey Road.
-(1974) President Richard Nixon announced his resignation from the office of the President of the United States, effective noon the next day.
-(1992) The “Dream Team” won the gold medal at the Barcelona Summer Olympics. The U.S. basketball team beat Croatia 117-85.
I was HARDLY UNRULY today but I COULD be!
Not difficult. Cute cartoon and clever answer.
Onward to Monday, eh?
Have a good night, Mig…🐶🙋🏻♀️
A Sunday Blind Solve, which is a great way to start a Sunday morning….yet I struggled with anagrams…Had to back in RODENT….but unfortunately backed in incorrectly. Knew the T and R had to be on the end. Well now, could TENDOR be a word??? Knew it wasn’t, but it fit…so am pressing on with the rest of the day. Another good song, Angela.
Hey Terry..Definitely an easy automatic solve, I agree. And you’re right…Tendor would have clinched it, despite being wrong😉…that rarely happens. The song? Tk you. Irreverent to a degree, but it got stuck in my head, so I ran with it. 😂. Wishing you and Marsha a great day, Terry…Enjoy! 🐶🙋🏻♀️
“It’s the dog days of summer” barked Rover
“And you really expect me to go fer
A walk in this heat,
I’d be thoroughly beat
I’ll just stay right here like a loafer!”
Hi Helen…
🐶 Old Rex said, “There’s no way I’ll go,
Outside in this heat…so you know…
I’m quite content here,
So don’t hound me, Dear…
I’m not looking for blisters to grow…” 🐶
A total strike out.Rodent got me as did whoosh.Along with those failures, the first word in the cartoon solution looked like ‘the’ which I knew wasn’t right as ‘the’ was given as part of the solution ,so I never could switch to ‘hot’ or the rest of the solution. In baseball terminology,a total strikeout!
Good Morning, Professor. Understandable. When you get a word stuck in your head, it’s hard to switch up…And WHOOSH isn’t something we see every day. But don’t let it DOG you…I’m sure you’ll hit it out of the park tomorrow…it’s a good one! Enjoy your day, Prof! 🐶🙋🏻♀️
Good morning. It wasn’t a 1,2,day but I persevered and got through both parts to score a victory. Enjoyed your input Mike and Angela your song choice. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.
Kudos, Paul..👏🏻👏🏻..And thank you! Have a good one, and here’s to you staying well and safe too. 🐶🙋🏻♀️
I had an instant solve for the answer. For the jumbles, RODENT took some effort, but I had to back into WHOOSH-even after I knew I needed OOH for the unscramble it took some effort.
Hey Dennis. Whoosh..except for sinking a basket, I don’t think we hear Whoosh being used all that often…and David did a great job scrambling it…It had a few of my friends shaking their heads this morning too…But the solve? Definitely an easy, breezy one. Thanks for commenting, Dennis. Enjoy your day! 🐶🙋🏻♀️
Rodent has tripped me up in the past but got it today. Saw Whoosh as Swoosh but managed to come up with the cartoon answer in spite of myself. No dog days of summer here – weather in the 60’s. Foghorns blew all night so GG Bridge is socked in this morning. It will clear later today. Hope all of you have a good Sunday.
60’s? I’d pay good money! The heat and humidity so far this summer have been horrible…and we still have weeks to go…🤦🏻♀️ C’est la vie…Wishing you a good Sunday too, Betty. Enjoy! 🐶🙋🏻♀️
One of my nephews this morning called this puzzle a ROARING success! 😂 Gotta love it! Hope you enjoy it as much as the Little Ones did! 🦁🙋🏻♀️ https://tinyurl.com/5c6p2duy
