Good Morning, Everyone. I hope this finds you well..
💨TRYING TO PLAY GOLF IN THE WIND? THAT REALLY BLOWS…💨
🎶 The answer, my friend, is BLOWIN’ in the WIND…The answer is BLOWIN’ in the WIND…🎶 “Blowin’ In The Wind” – Peter, Paul and Mary 1963 https://tinyurl.com/vwwy55zn
💨 With winds this strong, there is enough to replace FOSSIL fuels,
And anyone tries to play golf? They’d definitely be dubbed fools…
Your ball can’t FOLLOW any path…and there’ll be no ENCORE,
An ORIOLE can’t fly straight…so how could these guys keep score?
It might be an ABRUPT end to the day they had in mind,
But better safe than sorry…they’ll just leave the game behind…
And hang out in the clubhouse, maybe there’s a MASCOT there,
Where they can drown their sorrows in some finely crafted beer…
No other choice is left them…’cause with winds of this strong force?
The only thing’s that certain is that they’ll be BLOWN OFF COURSE! 💨
So where our last puzzle about golf, which was on the 3rd https://tinyurl.com/fbc38skt dealt with golf and fashion, and yesterday we had a puzzle about fashion….today we have a puzzle about golf and fusion. Fusion wind? No?…Well, ok, a LONG SHOT I suppose,…but I do like the PLAYful bit of whimsical similarity…Perhaps it’s just me though, huh? Ok then, SCRATCH that…and let’s just PLAY THROUGH…
With just a glance at today’s words, it was immediately known that they had all been SWUNG at before…so they were easily recognizable. But one Early Bird was a bit up a tree with ORIOLE, causing the others to get a little CADDIE, and tease him…I swear, some mornings these guys are enough to DRIVE a person to LINK…Anyway…as for our solve? They all agreed that it was a BREEZE…OF COURSE!
So, here we are today, at the WINDjammer Country Club. And while we’ve been out on the golf course more times than we can shake a STICK at…today we do seem to be BLOWing in a different direction. Offhand, I don’t recall a puzzle where our golf characters were forced to HOLE up in the clubhouse before, so this may be a first. But we do see the winds swirling, and the trees and flagstick swaying so badly they’re bending…so I think it’s SAFE to call it a day…beCOURSE these guys are definitely…BLOWN OFF COURSE! https://tinyurl.com/vmm2b4cb
And the Gem in today’s puzzle? One of the men is losing the battle trying to hold onto his visor. And there’s a ball rolling in the wind on the bottom right of the panel. But, If you look real closely at back, you’ll see two frowning men in a golf cart hastily racing to escape the weather. And it looks like it’s our own David at the wheel. But he doesn’t even realize that one of the bags has fallen from the cart…and there’s a set of clubs left behind on the ground…Now that’s ROUGH. Poor David…there are no WORDS!
So, There you have it Folks, Done! Have a good one…Be well, stay safe and here’s hoping whatever life has in store for us this week, we can all GREEN and bear it! ⛳️🙋🏻♀️
Not my best day this week.
Abrupt? Mascot?
Blown Off Course???
Sunday fail for ME!!
HOPE YOUR MILEAGE VARIED!!!!!
They are some pretty good scrambles, but…c’mon it wasn’t all that bad, was it? 😉🙋🏻♀️
🐧 Wanting to make the ORIOLE their MASCOT, the class that was studying FOSSIL fuel made an ABRUPT decision to try to FOLLOW it, and even after being BLOWN OFF COURSE, they were determined to go for an ENCORE performance…🐧
⚾️ His kids were always teasing him, a FOSSIL was his tag,
And while ABRUPT he knew inside about him they did brag…
They teased him about baseball, an ORIOLE fan he,
And asked how could he FOLLOW a team of such degree…
He said he’d play the MASCOT though, if he could get the chance,
They’d laugh and say…”An ENCORE…you and that old song and dance”..
But bottom line, they cherished him, and wish they could endorse…
Him for the job…Imagine? He’d be totally BLOWN OFF COURSE! ⚾️
Guten tag.. Almost a blind solve for us…thought last word probably COURSE….and of course it was. Fraulein Marsha jumped in with BLOWN OFF….while Herr Terry sped thru Anagrams. Enjoy the day.
Hey Terry…So, yesterday? I finally gave you a Cole Porter…but you didn’t bite! 😉Maybe next time!…And today? Yes, of COURSE! Wishing you a good one too, Terry. Enjoy! 💨🙋🏻♀️
⛳️ SPEAKING OF GOLF…For those of you who may not know, David’s taken his love of words, and his love of golf, and combined them to create another wonderful game. Must have missed that Cole Porter’s moment while traveling…Will look more closely in coming days.
Ok. You’re forgiven! 😉 🙋🏻♀️
When the wind is blowing a gale
And a birdie you’re trying to nail,
Even those in the Open
Are really just hopin’
That skill over weather will prevail!
Hi Helen…
🏌🏻♂️ A golfer while looking to putt,
Outside influences he needs to shut…
But when the wind blows,
There’s no way one knows…
If your shot’s ever making the cut! 🏌🏻♂️
Being a former avid golfer, only playing on the days of the week that ended in a “Y”, the cartoon solution was a quick blind solve. I had solved all of the anagrams, except for mascot, before the blind solve, but realizing I needed the C and O for my blind solve led to the mascot final anagram solution. And we’re getting ready for a visit by 5 grand kids.
Good Morning, Professor. Yes, it is a quick solve today. And a clever one, as always. Have a great day, and enjoy your Family! 🏌🏻♂️🙋🏻♀️
Hi Everyone – No problems today, since I remembered the tough anagrams from past struggles.
Loved your song choice, Angela, which is one of my favorite Dylan tunes. I also thought of the song “Four Strong Winds.” Got a kick out of the “caddie’ Early Birds.
Hi Caroline. Good Morning. Your “past struggles” made me smile! I do sometimes think we all take this wayyyy too seriously! 😉 And I’m glad you enjoyed my song choice. I debated going with either PP&M or Dylan, but the trio finally won out. I do like both renditions. And I very much like your pick of “Four Strong Winds”…I’m not sure whose version you have in mind, but I always liked Neil Young’s take on it…. https://tinyurl.com/ymmmxkea
…And as for the Early Birds? Trust me, you have no idea! 🤦🏻♀️ Have a good one, Caroline. Enjoy! 💨🙋🏻♀️
PP&M had the big hit, but I like Dylan’s version too as well as your Neil Young selection.
It’s all such good music…🎶🙋🏻♀️
Let me add a shout out to the great original version by Ian and Sylvia, who also gave us “You Were On My Mind” covered by We Five and “Someday Soon” covered by Judy Collins.
Thanks, Steve. I. had forgotten those songs were theirs as well. My parents used to play their music.
I didn’t realize they had written the last two until I looked them up. Great talents.
Today is NATIONAL WINE AND CHEESE DAY…’Nuff said…Enjoy! 🧀🍷🙋🏻♀️
Surprisingly easy Sunday on all counts. The junior high Mascot, an Oriole, made an Abrupt decision to Follow up the glee club’s Encore performance of the “Fossil Rock Anthem” by running across the stage with a dinosaur bone. If you’re wondering, and I don’t know why you wouldn’t, Fossil Rock Anthem is used to teach kids about earth sciences. Finally, golf, so they say, is a good walk spoiled but I still love it!
And you’re not alone with your love, OO. For some, it’s the only “exercise” they get! 😉 Nice use of our words today…👏🏻👏🏻…you gave me a chuckle! And yes, definitely an easy, BREEZY go of it this morning…Have a good one, OO. Be well and stay safe out there…🏌🏻♂️🙋🏻♀️
Thought the words were well jumbled this morning, especially oriole and mascot, though I was able to get them. Cartoon answer was an easy solve. I love the poem “I saw you toss the kites on high and blow the birds about the sky and all along I heard you pass like ladies skirts across the grass. Oh wind a blowing all day long oh wind that sings so loud a song.” Robert Louis Stevenson. Happy Sunday all!
Good Morning, Betty. Tk you for the great piece of poetry…👏🏻👏🏻..The imagery is fantastic. RLS never failed…And yes, definitely an easy solve this morning. Wishing you a happy Sunday too, Betty. Enjoy! 💨🙋🏻♀️
Well, RL Stevenson spent his early years in Scotland, a very windy country (try the golf courses there!) and his final years in Samoa where I’m sure the breezes are zephyr-like. He also spent some time in California so he did get around in spite of chronic ill health.
And unfortunately, he died so young. Imagine what he’d have accomplished had he lived longer. 🙋🏻♀️
Robert Burns died even younger and yes, imagine what Lennon would have accomplished too. Not of the same generation, what uncannily similar in summing up the essence of humanity.
Definitely. If we stop and think of how many great artists were taken so young, it’s very sobering. 😢
Good afternoon. I had a lot of trouble with most of the words that I put the paper aside and went out to play bocce. Now that I came back I went straight for the paper with better results. Even the cartoon answer took some time to get but I succeeded. Loved your song choice Angela. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.
Kudos, Paul.👏🏻👏🏻. And tks. Have a good night. 🏌🏻♂️🙋🏻♀️
Hi all – No real problem with the words; just recognized most of them. ENCORE and MASCOT took an extra look. Needed the letters for the answer, but saw COURSE and then OFF COURSE to get it.
Good wishes to everyone.
“When the team brought back its old name, the ORIOLE MASCOT’s career took an ABRUPT turn as he decided to FOLLOW along with an ENCORE of his FOSSIL dinosaur costume.”
Hey Steve. Talk of dinosaur is sounding so familiar, but I can’t put my finger on it. Maybe it’ll come to me. Hope your night’s off to a good start. Take care. 🏌🏻♂️🙋🏻♀️
