  1. Good Afternoon, Everyone. I hope this finds you well…📚🙋🏻‍♀️

I had major technical issues that started early this morning, and are just now seeming to come to an end…(But the repair guys are still here…so I wouldn’t write it all off yet…No pun intended)….Anyway, whatever I had intended to post disappeared somewhere into the Black Hole, and all I can recall for sure at this late hour are the title and the song I was going with. I labeled it “Causing Fiction…Bride Over Matter”, and I chose Willie Nelson’s “You Were Always On My Mind” https://tinyurl.com/3t9n78x9. I did toy with “Chicago”, but I changed my mind…pun intended!

…But I just penned this, and if my nerves hold out, and any of the puzzle’s post comes back to my pandemic mind…you’ll be the first to know. Have a good one…Be well, and stay safe. 📚🙋🏻‍♀️

🃏As soon as he realized that the seat they would ASSIGN him for the RUMMY Tournament’s PLEDGE Drive would probably put him at a great disadvantage towards winning an AWARD, his MIND WAS MADE UP to ask for a change…🃏

🥃 Detrimentally called a RUMMY, vernacular used back when,
His wife had prayed that he would PLEDGE to be a better man…
Enroll himself in AA…hoping it would grant AWARD,
And that he’d become sober…and a better life afford
But she could not ASSIGN him to put down that demon’s cup…
So she waited oh so patiently ‘til his MIND WAS MADE UP…🥃

  2. Ok…Here goes…🙋🏻‍♀️

👸🏻 When Goldman penned the “The Princess Bride” I wonder if he thought
That many years would pass by, and the movie rights be bought…
The film under Rob Reiner, AWARD worthy, there’s no doubt
And if I taught in film school…I’d ASSIGN it…for its clout
For Westley loved his Buttercup, his PLEDGE to set her free…
(And RUMMY just won’t cut it…so for now we’ll leave it be)
There’s fact and then there’s fiction…but true love runneth that cup…
And stubbornness did overrule when one’s MIND WAS MADE UP…👸🏻

As I mentioned earlier, it’s late in the day, and…well, I’m beat. So I’ll cut to the chase…again, pun intended. Today’s puzzle gives us the story of the “The Princess Bride”. And you can read all about it here. https://tinyurl.com/sf4n5wcv. Because this, for sure, does it much better justice than I can. (Plus, as I mentioned, I’ve forgotten most of what I wrote this morning). But it’s a beautiful story, that more than once has brought me to tears. And as you can see, (after you’ve done the reading…😉), Jeff’s given us Peter Falk as the Grandfather, and Fred Savage as Jimmy, the sick grandson who he’s reading too – (Or is it “whom” he’s reading to? I’m drawing a blank…As I said, Folks…I’m beat)… They live in the Chicago suburb of Evanston, Illinois, which explains the Cubs and the Bears references, and I think the Star Wars character may be a nod to the men who trained Cary Elwes and Mandy Patinkin on how to fence. They also trained the actors in the original Star Wars trilogy. It’s just a guess.

So, I apologize for the late delivery, not going into detail, and this somewhat patchwork post. But again, I think you’ll really enjoy the Wikipedia write-up. And I’ll leave you with this…”I mean, I really do think that love is the best thing in the world, except for cough drops. But I also have to say, for the umpty-umpth time, that life isn’t fair. It’s just fairer than death, that’s all.” Google it…as I said, I’m beat…👸🏻🙋🏻‍♀️

      • Thanks, Mike. I remember some of the puns now…but at this point, they’d only be words-er under the bridge! Have a good night. 👸🏻🙋🏻‍♀️

        • I should’ve listened to Jumble Jeff when he told us his drawings usually have a pop culture reference. I thought the dude was Mark Twain! Good night. 👋🏻

          • LOL! TBT? My first thought was “Pops” from the Goldbergs. I think he looks just like George Segal! Good night to you, too. Pleasant dreams…😴 🙋🏻‍♀️

  3. Anagrams easy this morning, but had no clue to puzzle answer. I saw “MADE” and guessed correctly that “UP” followed…then figured out the rest of puzzle.

  4. Good morning. Like I said yesterday, today was another day to change a failure to success and with that my frown became a smile. No problem with the words and just a little bump on the cartoon answer. But after a minute I was able to figure it out when I noticed the U and P in the group of letters. Mind was the last word I got in the answer. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.

  5. Agree w Paul, anagrams went well, even assign.Mind and up were obvious cartoon solutions, followed quickly by the complete “mind was made up” solution.

    • Didn’t think the first post went through,, hence the double trouble this morning.

  6. Hi all – No problem with the words, with the double letter trick showing that the expected ING was actually IGN in ASSIGN. No idea about the answer until I figured WAS was in there, and UP was the most likely two letter word. Then the remaining letters showed the very clever punny double meaning of MADE UP.

Cute details that the kid is a fan not only of the Cubs and Bears but also Star Wars, with the little statue of Darth Vader behind him.

    Good wishes to everyone.

“Captain Morgan made good on his PLEDGE to revoke the ship’s bartender’s AWARD and ASSIGN him back to the kitchen if his daiquiri wasn’t RUMMY enough.”

  7. No Friday frenzy in Reno today. Easy jumble solutions all the way. Everybody have a great weekend coming up

    • I’ve been in Reno a number of times, Millard. Like to stay at one of those casino hotels downtown, good times! Enjoy your weekend also…..
