Having passed his prized possession down to his daughter, our Dad watches as she WINDs that reel and brings UP a catch. Jeff’s Gems? I can just imagine him saying,..”Holy CARP…Is she aBAIT to get me too? I’m deFINitely CAUGHT between a rock and a hard PLAICE now”! …

It was unwise for her to hinder me as I tried to putty the width of the poorly laid tiles. I like the putty spreader and mysteriously did wind up with it.
Dodgers in one of their worst slumps in years. They can’t hit and can’t field.

Hi Everybody – Sweet find for a song and video. This one took a little work. I looked for two letter words and then spotted With, leaving Wind to unscramble.
My husband caught a big one deep sea fishing at age 6 that pulled him right out of his seat.

As I’ve said before,I’m not a fisherman,so today’s Jumble was foreign to me.But the anagrams still were a quick solve,then with it was a quick solve for the final 2 words of the cartoon,but the first 2 words,wind up came slowly,as I thought the second word was in rather than up.I also join in and wish all Moms a Happy Mother’s Day!

Hi all – Pretty straightforward puzzle today. No problem with the words, and I figured the answer would end with “with it”, but I had to look at the letters to see the rest and the pun.
Thanks for two things, Angela – the vocabulary lesson with PLAICE (never heard that one), and a Silly Putty memory. Looking at the color Jumble on the Chronicle’s comic page brought back pressing the putty onto the page and peeling it off to see the copy it produced.
