    🪠Mechanic with a plunger, as he’s sucking out the ding,
    Our husband fears the THORNY jam that it would surely bring…
    It looks small like a DOILY, but of course it could be seen,
    And he knows that his wife would turn no doubt a DRAGON green!
    But while he’s there he may as well make the guy take a glance,
    The brake FLUID and other things…if no reason but chance…
    That way in case his wife gets wind…he can make it about

    LOVE TAP Body Repair! The guy brought the car to Love Tap Car Repair! I have to say, that really gave me a chuckle. It brought me back to being a kid, and as kids are won’t to do…I many a time fought with my brothers. And many a time, one of us would inevitably run to my Mom with the old…”He hit me/she hit me”. And many a time still, my Mom would say…”Please, I’m sure it was just a Love Tap”! A LOVE TAP is a light touch usually used to show affection. Metaphorically, it’s like a nudge used to give someone a reminder or some motivation….But it also describes a scrape against a car…So…A tip of the cap to Jeff, because once again his wit and whimsy makes me laugh…

    Ok…With us once again FIND DING no new words to deal with, it does appear that we’re down the middle of the ROAD with our anagrams. Two and two. The Repeat Repeats? DUFIL from November 14th, 2013, and GANDOR from September 4th, 2010. But as far as all of our words go today? Trust me, they’ve definitely piled up some MILEAGE between them…Every one of them has been seen umpteen times over the years, going way back., and I think I stopped counting after about 30 entries collectively, And just as we wouldn’t expect our mechanic to turn back an odometer, I’m not going to turn back all these listings from the Archives. Let’s face it, Folks…you’ve seen one…you’ve no need to beat a dead HORSE!…POWER in numbers? Uh…not so much! (Yes, I know it’s “Strength in Numbers”…but how would that work as a pun)? 😉 Anyway, we really don’t need to reTREAD them all now, do we? No…Suffice to say, there’s been a TRUNK full…But I will give you the most recent usage of each later on. Ok, DRIVING forward…

    Our cartoon. Strangest thing, I know this isn’t the first time we’re FIND DING ourselves in a Repair Shop, but for some reason, this particular puzzle seems enTIREly so familiar. The drawing and the solve. But I checked under the hood…and oddly enough? I didn’t make a DENT! RUNNING on EMPTY, so to speak. But maybe if I have some time to SPARE later on, I’ll check again. Anyway, here we are. We see a hapless husband, stressing over the fact that he DINGed his wife’s car, and the mechanic he’s brought it to is telling him not to worry, he’ll definitely SCRAPE by…’cause she’ll never FIND out. A classic case of easy come…she won’t know. And if the dialogue, the words “small DENT” and “keep her from” in our question, plus the quotation marks didn’t STEER you in the right direction and open the DOOR for you towards solving this? Well, then I DENT know what to tell you. He wanted to keep her from…“FIND-DING” OUT! Yep, I think we were definitely given a ROAD MAP with this one today…And it definitely DROVE home the point!

    Eye candy? Aside from the haircuts on both our guys, there’s just one other thing puzzling me. While the puzzle’s only mentioning the one small dent, it seems there’s two more abrasions of some sort showing on the car door. And I’m not looking to cause any friction here…but..what’s the rub?

    So, There you have it Folks, Done. Have a good one. Be well, stay safe…And I’ll leave you with a little Car Mechanic humor…Two mechanics were making small talk about what happens when an engine is running but the car is in park… You know, just some idle banter.🪠🙋🏻‍♀️

  3. 🐉 The DOILY with the image of the DRAGON had been made by their Grandmother, and it became a THORNY subject when they were FINDING OUT that it wouldn’t be such a FLUID transition passing it down…since every Grandchild wanted it…🐉

    🤷🏻‍♀️ The DOILY top the table was one she always thought
    Had been brought here from Italy, not something just store bought
    Then it was stained by FLUID dripped from a cup of tea,
    And it had left a DRAGON-green spot there for her to see…
    So it got slightly THORNY when she brought it to be cleaned,
    And there within the stitches “Made in China” could be seen…
    Here all these years what she believed was now shrouded in doubt
    It’s not a family heirloom? How she hated FINDING OUT…🤷🏻‍♀️

  4. Good morning. It took me forever to come up with Dragon. Who knows why. If it wasn’t for that speed bump I would have had my second cup of coffee. I had no problem with the cartoon answer. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.

Doily is an old time word,my Mom used to have them on the end takes,under ash trays(who has ash trays anymore?) or even lamps.As far as the anagrams ,they were all instant solves for me as was the cartoon solution.Regarding car dings or dents,an easy repair is to use a magnet to pull the dent out.I got a dent in my Cadillac CT6, and when the repairman tried to use a magnet to pull out the dent,he couldn’t as the entire body is aluminum.Thus complicating the repair,and increasing the cost,ugh!

    • Good Morning, Professor. I have a bunch of doilies that belonged to my Great-Grandmother and Grandmother. And even ashtrays that were my Fathers and my Grandfathers. Not modern day ones, but metal ones that are on stands and glass ones that have cigar and pipe holders. I love anything vintage. As for the magnet fiasco…hmm. Sounds like he should have ate the extra cost..he caused it! 🤷🏻‍♀️I’m figuring you didn’t give him any business after that! And the puzzle? I’m with you…it was an easy solve. And a very clever one.       • You misunderstood ,he didn’t cause further damage w the magnet on the aluminum body,but had to go to other measures to take the ding out which increased the cost of the repair.And then got the job done.

  7. Hi all – DRAGON would have taken me longer, but I actually recognized it from having missed it so often previously. I guessed that “OUT” was in the answer, and I considered that if he had a coupon at the Midas repair shop, it could be “ ‘FREE-KING’ OUT”, but seeing “ding” in the letters showed the remaining word.

    My wife has a true story like this, but it was her mother getting the dent in her father’s Studebaker fixed before he noticed. 😂 (And there’s another old-time word for you!)

    Having just looked online, I do believe that the center line of the ‘E’ in “Love Taps” is a pair of pliers.

    I liked your Jackson Browne “Running On Empty” reference Angela, but the Jumble words and your song link reminded me of Tom Petty teaming up with Stevie Nicks on “Stop DRAGON my heart around.”
