Good Morning, Everyone. 🐊 ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT! 🐊
🎶 See you later ALLIGATOR…After ‘while crocodile….See you later ALLIGATOR…After ‘while crocodile…Can’t you see you’re in my way now…Don’t you know you cramp my style…🎶 “See You Later, Alligator” – Bill Haley and the Comets 1956 https://tinyurl.com/y9nxmuuz
🐊 This picture it’s no PHONY, we’ve seen these Gators crawl,
Onto a Golf Course here and there…and people are enthralled…
It doesn’t take a GENIUS to come up with some doubt,
‘Bout playing through those 18 holes while creatures lurk about
Are Golfers PRONE to stay the course, and still decide to play?
A creature with a JABBER mouth…you’d think would end their day
If it were me, you better bet I’d give it my attention…
‘Cause sink or swim an Alligator equals APPREHENSION! 🐊
Ok. So…As any die-hard Jumble “A-FISH-IONADO” (Sorry, I just couldn’t resist…ever since that puzzle of 12/23, this is how I’ve been pronouncing it)…knows, over the years we’ve had enough golf-themed puzzles to choke a COURSE…PUTT today, this one’s a little different. Being the Idiom Savant that I am, my M.O. is to guess the puzzles answer from the question alone. And if the idiom/pun doesn’t SPELL itself out for me automatically, then I look at the cartoon. But this morning? I have to admit that it didn’t hit me right off the bat. I don’t really golf, but I do have what I guess you’d call a working knowledge of the sport, so I was swimming around for a golf term that would fit. And yet? No STROKE of luck. So I’m thinking…What am I missing here?…It seemed oddly familiar, but I couldn’t put my finger on it….And then it GRABbed me. APPREHENSION https://tinyurl.com/yavg9dps A double-edged sWORD! Our golfers became apprehensive about continuing to golf there…and the Gator was apprehended by the Swamp People! Is this brilliant or what? 👏🏻👏🏻! David…this one may have CREPT up on me…but I definitely enJAWed it! Ok…Let’s move FOREward…
Our words. For OPENers, we have two Repeat Repeats… with OPENR, having appeared as is on September 15th, 2018… https://tinyurl.com/yab7b2j8, and BARJEB played as is on December 22nd, 2015. And as for our three other words, fresh anagrams, and having been seen during 2017 and ‘18. And it was only GENIUS that caused a few of the Early Birds a little bit of apprehension…(That smarted a bit)!…The solve though? Now that took some PUTTering aROUND before they scored…
And now our cartoon. And here’s why I say the dialogue is so important. The “Oh my gosh” and the “Do you think it’s safe” = Apprehension. The Gator Boys with the “Gotcha” and “Your new home”? = Apprehension. It just doesn’t get any better than this…Or does it? Our golfers? Jeff and David? Yes, I think so. Perhaps playing at the Palm Cay Development in Florida? Could be. So while I like the little Gator on the cap of Swamp Person #1, and I find the raise-eyed defeated look on the face of our crawly criminal amusing, I’m going with our Golfers as the Eye Candy of the day. David and Jeff both played this out really well…and they definitely scored big with this one today! No if’s, ands or PUTTS!
So, There you have it, Folks…Done! Have a good one…Be well, stay safe… And I’ll leave you with a clip of something that happened just a few weeks ago on a Golf Course in Florida https://tinyurl.com/yb4275at. Who knows…Perhaps this was the DRIVING force behind our puzzle today! 🐊🙋🏻♀️
🎬 It didn’t take a GENIUS to realize that he just looked too PHONY lying PRONE there on the floor…so while the director continued to JABBER on and on with the crew, the actor threw any APPREHENSION to the wind, and moved himself into a more realistic position…🎬
🎥 He watched the old-time gangster film, as he was PRONE to do,
Some scenes looked terribly PHONY, guess back then it’s all they knew
We’ve definitely come a long way far as Cinematography goes
Years past, a lot of jibber-JABBER ‘fore someone got hosed
But movie-making GENIUS came along and changed direction…
Today it’s mostly shooting first…(causes less APPREHENSION)! 🎥
…And today, in JUMBLE TRIVIA: The puzzle of September 18th, 2015: The question: “After a tiger escaped from the zoo, there would be this, until there was this” …And the solve? APPREHENSION! And it featured Bill Watterson’s comic characters Calvin and Hobbes!..So we went from a Zoo to a Golf Course, and a Tiger to an Alligator…But I SPOTted it just the same! 🐅 🐊🙋🏻♀️
*** And speaking of Golf, our Wordsmith Extraordinaire, David, has recently launched a new game. It’s called GOLF WORDS, and it blends David’s love of words with his love of Golf. Here’s some information on it, and if you click on the 3-bar menu option at the upper right-hand corner, you can learn about playing the game, and ordering one if you choose to. There seems to be no end to David’s word prowess…Now he’s made a sport of it! *** Enjoy! 🏌🏻♂️🙋🏻♀️

Good morning. Had the words fairly easy but was stumped on the cartoon answer even though I had a hunch it ended in ion. Took the easy route and looked it up. Good song choice. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.
Good Morning, Brooklyn. The song choice. Tks….Funny clip, right? So campy. And the solve is a bit tricky…Hoping you stay well and safe too, Paul. Have a good one. 🐊🙋🏻♀️
I agree with Paul on the song choice and video. The key for me was putting the two P’s together and thinking, like Paul, that the word might end in ion. My vote went to Genius because I had to back in. Looks like a very nice alligator.
Wishing all a good weekend.
Good Morning, Caroline. Good move on joining the P’s! Glad you enjoyed the music. And thanks for the laugh! A very nice alligator, indeed! 😂😂 Hoping your days going well…And stay safe out there…🐊🙋🏻♀️
I thought the cartoon answer would end in,ing,so was surprised when genius didn’t yield the necessary g.Having moved on from an ing ending,I turned to the sion ending, which yielded the final apprehension solution.Being an avid golfer ,I played in Florida several years ago and did encounter the dreaded alligators there on the course.
Good Morning, Professor. It’s good you were able to move on from the “ing” ending. All too often, once something’s stuck in your head…it’s curtains! As for the alligator? So…did you still play through??? 😉🐊🙋🏻♀️
Yes we played through, leaving the alligator be at the shore of the pond or lake he was adjacent to.
LOL! You golfers are definitely are a hardy lot! I would have been long gone! Now I’m wondering if today’s puzzle was Jumble art imitating life again..🤔.and if the same thing actually happened to David and Jeff! 🐊🙋🏻♀️
Solved the first four words easily but I got stuck on the cartoon jumble that was the hard part for me. But actually liked your update about it and I got the right answer through this. I’ll love to catch you with the next puzzles
Hi, Diana…Good Morning. Glad to be of help! And we’d love to have you join us for future puzzle solving. It’s always fun. Wishing you a good day…Be well, and stay safe out there. 🐊🙋🏻♀️
I don’t get this one. Snakes, rats, a notorious nearby nightclub, or a landfall next door would also cause APPREHENSION. When I saw the alligator I thought for sure the answer was ALLEGATIONS, but that turned out not to be the case.
Think about it, Jim. It’s really clever…And as for Allegations…I like it! Maybe David will work it in another time…Have a good one Jim, and a Happy New Year to you and yours. 🐊🙋🏻♀️
Figuring the cartoon answer would end in “sion”, I was able to arrive at apprehension. Many years ago someone left an alligator in a lake in one of our small neighborhood parks. The local newspapers seized on the story christening it the “Golden Gator”. They flew in a real life alligator hunter from Florida who arrived in Jungle Fatigues, captured the creature and relocated it to a new home in the Sunshine State. Turned out it was only a baby gator and really posed no threat to the citizens of San Francisco but it did make for a good story. Wishing all of you a good Saturday.
Good Morning, Betty. Definitely a good story! And let’s face it…it might have been a baby Gator then…but who needed to wait until it grew up! 😱 For all we know, he might be the one in the video! 😂 Thanks for sharing, Betty. And wishing you a good Saturday too! (And…good work on the solve)! 🐊🙋🏻♀️
Great story, Betty – I don’t remember that one.
Hi all – Got the words, although I did think “Snuggie” instead of GENIUS at first. (Whatever happened to all those commercials around Christmas? And Dan Marino and Isotoner gloves for that matter? But I digress! 😂)
I surprised myself by actually seeing the answer without using the letters. I figured it would probably end in “tion”, and that was close enough to “sion”, and the concern showed by the golfers confirmed that it was APPREHENSION.
I’m glad they’re taking the big fellow to a new home, and not turning him into a handbag, shoes or dinner! I liked the little alligator I saw on the guy’s hat when I went online, and I found to my surprise that Lacoste does make baseball hats like that.
Good wishes to everyone.
“A wave of APPREHENSION swept through the conference attendees when the PHONY GENIUS took the podium, as they knew all too well that he was PRONE to JABBER right through lunch and dinner!”

Dan Marino! 😂 I still have a few pair of Isotoners And he does cross my mind when I stretch them on! 😂 Enjoy your day, Steve…and stay safe out there…🐊🙋🏻♀️
There’s a golf course about a mile from my house. I drive through it sometimes because the grounds are beautiful. No gators but plenty of deer. My mileage did not vary today with genius and apprehension evading me! Nice song choice Angela…….
Most golf course grounds are beautiful…so lush. I wish I could get my grass so green! And we have a ton of deer out here too. So many more so after Sandy decimated us…Have a good one, Mig…and I’m glad you enjoyed the music! 🦌🙋🏻♀️
Angela. Enjoyed your story development using the jumble words. No problems with today’s jumble as I am a blind golfer. I rely on my coach caddy to watch out for alligators. I did play in Tampa one year. Today I discovered a savant I am not. Have a wonderful new year
Hi Millard…Thank you. And I have to tell you that you appear to have an adorable sense of humor. And let’s hear it for your caddie! 👏🏻👏🏻. Alligators…so not my speed. I think of how when I’m in Florida, the geckos 🦎 alone bug the bejesus out of me…I can’t imagine how I’d fare with an alligator encounter…😂. I wish you and yours a wonderful New Year too, Millard..and I look forward to having you join us again. Be well, Sir…and stay safe. 🐊🙋🏻♀️
I found some extra time, so I was able to put this together…🐊🙋🏻♀️

Got all but the answer and genius. Studied the twelve letters; gave up. I’m ok 4-6 letter words but find 10+ letter words incredibly unsolvable.
Till tomorrow, enjoy the family and the sun day.
