  1. Happy Monday everyone! It’s great to see our regular cast of Jumble characters back in action again. Jeff even went so far as to add a caricature of martial arts legend, Chuck Norris, to his first panel of the week. Talk about kicking your cartoon up a notch!

All of today’s anagrams were brand new while their answers were recycled repeats. They were all neatly listed in descending alphabetical order but none of them managed to stump me in the least. I’ll go out on a limb and choose BOTHER as today’s hardest word. My guess is that some folks may have seen BROTHER at first before realizing that you’d need an additional “R” to pull it off.

Chuck Norris, to me, always seemed to be a real down-to-earth kind of guy. I could totally picture him teaching a group of kids like Jeff has imagined him today. My favorite part of the panel was obviously his caricature, but Jeff added a few additional details within his cartoon to put it over the top.

We see a couple of medals hanging on the wall and there is a small stick figure in the center of each one performing a kick. There were also two “action” photos hanging on the wall and a ginormous trophy sitting on the floor. All of the details were perfectly positioned and seemed to serve as visual verification of Mr. Norris’s martial arts mastery — like a living legend such as himself even needs those!

The final solve was a modest 12-letters in length that consisted of 8 consonants and 4 vowels. The layout was quite cryptic but the answer flowed naturally as I was reading the sentence so it wound up being an instant solve. Have a great start to your week, my friends, and keep Jumbling!

  2. Here are 10 Fun Facts about KARATE!

    10. Karate comes from two words: “kara” meaning empty, and “te” meaning hand. That’s because karate is a martial art that focuses on hand-to-hand combat rather than the use of weapons.
    9. The belt rank colors in karate are (from beginner to master) white, yellow, orange, green, blue, purple, brown, red and black.
    8. Gichin Funakoshi is credited with popularizing Karate on the main islands of Japan.
    7. Though Karate has roots in self-defence and discipline, it’s also used by many as a fitness workout that adds to their own exercise regimen.
    6. Karate focuses on strikes and kicks but also contains other techniques including joint locks and throws.
    5. The first style of Karate was started on Okinawa. This rough fighting style was then polished and changed as it spread throughout Japan.
    4. The first dojo was opened in the United States in 1945.
    3. Karate is often used to help build confidence in children.
    2. The traditional white uniform you wear in the dojo is called a “gi”, simply meaning “uniform” in Japanese.
    1. It takes about 3 to 7 years to become a black belt, though everyone goes at their own pace!

  3. Good Morning, Everyone. I hope this finds you well….

👊🏻 Some think Karate is a STUNT, can’t BOTHER with it all,
Most likely they’re the sort though that just couldn’t take the call…
While nothing there to GIGGLE ‘bout, it takes a lot of grit,
And old Chuck Norris made his BRAND, and profited from it
The Championships, the movies, it’s earned him lots of gelt…
He’s definitely made his mark…and now it’s all UNDER HIS BELT 🤜🏻 🙋🏻‍♀️

  4. …And today in Jumble Trivia: The puzzle of November 11th, 2016…The question: “The Martial Arts master started learning Judo because he had Karate”…The solve? UNDER HIS BELT! 🙋🏻‍♀️

    • Another very easy Monday. Among the 12 letters, HIS was the first word I saw, the rest followed. I would not say that I’m a jumble rock spar … though I got another jumble under my belt!
Thank you Mike for your interesting fun facts.

  5. Good morning. Thanks Mike on the fun facts. I didn’t realize that red was in between the brown and black belt. Your never too old to learn. I got the words lickety split but drew a complete blank on the cartoon answer. Could it have been that I was never a fan of Chuck Norris. Think it was his cockiness that turned me off. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.

    • I was quite surprised that there were actually so many belts to achieve! My son took Karate for a few years and got few but he ultimately chose wrestling.
I’m glad you’re enjoying the facts. Have a good one, Paul!

  6. 🐰 Finding it a BOTHER to waste so much time choosing a healthy BRAND of cereal, he stood in the supermarket aisle and heard the GIGGLE of a small child as he tried to replicate the STUNT being done by Tricks, the Trix Bunny…and he thought, this kid’s definitely got it UNDER HIS BELT!…🐰

🤸🏻‍♂️He had to learn more than one STUNT, if he was to perform,
The BRAND was what he’d be known by, and numbers were the norm…
He heard somebody GIGGLE, saying…”Don’t BOTHER yourself kid…
You really have no talent, you’ll just end up on the skids…”
His feelings bruised he knew he couldn’t show what he had felt,
And swore that he’d succeed at this…get it UNDER HIS BELT…🤸🏻‍♂️

  7. Nice Monday morning puzzle today. No problem with the words and the cartoon answer was a blind solve. I too enjoyed all the fun facts, Mike. My son took Karate for a while – think he ended up with a green belt. Have a good day all.

    • Green belt rings a bell here too, Betty. I’d check his closet for his old karate stuff, but it isn’t a task I’m quite up for on a Monday morning.

      I’m glad you’re enjoying the facts! 🙂

  8. Hi all – Another one where I happened to look at the picture first and saw the obvious answer, and then got the words also. Easy Monday.

    Good wishes to everyone.

“It didn’t BOTHER the juggler to hear his audience GIGGLE when his STUNT with the hot cattle BRAND went awry, but the permanent “Lazy-S” mark on his arm did.”

    • Impressive sentence Steve. I’ve been thinking of words that begin with the letter “S” to help your rodeo clown finish his tattoo, but I think laser removal is the only real option he has!

      • Ah yes, I see that three more letters might be an appropriate finish 😂😂😂
Funny, that just popped into my head without any particular meaning (unlike one I actually do remember; Roy Rogers’ “Double R Bar Ranch”.)

  9. I seem to have entered a phase of my existence where the words come easy but the solution does not! Enjoy having the regular team back at it, especially enjoyed the cartoon and rendering Chuck………. Mike, you are adding a lot of value with your facts, thanks.
    Have a fun day!

  10. I’m getting the sense that no one here has seen Cobra Kai on Netfilx. You don’t know what you’re missing if you like Karate Kid just a little. It’s great!
