  1. Good Morning, Everyone 💯SOME THINGS ARE WORTH THE WEIGHT💯

🎶 Every mornin’ at the mine you could see him arrive…He stood six-foot-six and WEIGHED TWO FORTY FIVE…Kinda broad at the shoulder and narrow at the hip…And everybody knew ya didn’t give no lip to BIG JOHN…(BIG JOHN…BIG JOHN)…BIG BAD JOHN…. 🎶 Big Bad John” – Jimmy Dean 1961 https://tinyurl.com/y2ry9bm8

💯 The house arrest this virus wrought has caused weight to be gained,
But obviously our guy John…his diet has sustained…
I know myself I have succumbed to foods enticing web,
And when I SNIFF aromas…hardly appetite does ebb…
In fact I have considered using METRIC for the weight,
The kilograms look better since the pounds have known a spate…
No pressure on my FIBULA, but still the quarantine,
Has taken toll on lots of us…gains five, ten and fifteen…
And while some have gone BUGGY, upset by pants too tight,
We see that John has stood the test…he’s fought that good weight fight…
    100 pounds is epic…he can’t keep his joy within…
And that’s why he’s upon that scale wearing a BIG FAT GRIN! 💯

Ok, so…Nothing new to report as far as our words themselves go…but we do have a fresh group of anagrams. And it was a tie this morning…2 of the Early Birds were POUNDing their heads with METRIC, while another 2 had a BONE TO PICK with FIBULA… And with that said, let’s WEIGH in on our cartoon…

So, John. Shedding 100 pounds! Well excuse me! He’s definitely GAINED my respect…no pun intended. And I know it couldn’t have been a piece of cake either…literally. I give him credit, but the dialogue …”You must be so happy”…and him standing there with that BIG smile across his face asking “How can you tell”? Let’s face it, Folks…With the theme of the puzzle being losing weight? FAT chance of being at a LOSS with these hints…The LIGHT went off at the DROP of a FAT!…And it resulted in a BIG FAT GRIN!

Eye candy? On the table behind the couple, there’s a photo of what I assume to be them, but only John is clearly visible. And he appears to be much heavier than what we see today. He’s using an older model bathroom scale to weigh himself, the dial/analog type, and with the needle pointing straight up, we can GAUGE that John’s now coming in at around 150. WEIGH to go, John. But what I’d usually choose as my pièce de résistance would be the logo on his shirt. Only problem is, I can’t identify it…And being unfamiliar with it, trying to do so would be like searching for a needle in a haystack, since I wouldn’t know where to start. Corporate logo, college logo, sports logo…Uh..No-go logo. WEIGH too much involved here…Be like POUNDing my head against a wall…and it’s WEIGH too early in the morning for all that. So instead I’ll give you all a pic of the cartoon. https://tinyurl.com/yxs2zunb. Maybe someone can enlarge the area and come up with the answer. ‘Cause you know me…I’d DI ET being wrongly identified…

So, There you have it, Folks. Done. Have a good one…be well and stay safe… And if any of you out there find yourselves fighting the Battle of the Bulge..be cautious. Why just last night I choked on a carrot…and all I could think was, “I bet a donut wouldn’t have done this to me!”…💯🙋🏻‍♀️

Oh, and before I forget. In the interest of full disclosure, I have to amend something I said yesterday morning. MIMIC wasn’t a new word after all. I lazily only looked back to 2015, but later in the day, when I had some time, I took another stab at it. And LOW and behold…there it was. December 21st, 2013. Just thought I’d tell you…you know, wanting to keep things on an even SCALE…

  2. ☕️ Waiting for the doctor to tend to his torn FIBULA, which he’d damaged in a collision with a baby BUGGY, he couldn’t help but SNIFF the freshly brewing Hazelnut aroma wafting through the air.. but he diverted his attention instead to the poster on the wall of the METRIC systems conversions…and he couldn’t help breaking out into a BIG FAT GRIN when the nurse came in offering him a cup of coffee…☕️

🧗🏻‍♀️ The article on climbing mentioned FIBULA three times,
A lot of safety measures listed when and if one climbs
The writer did the leg work…no pun intended here,
But having him SNIFF out details made it seem much more clear
His friends told him he’s BUGGY, to take on such a sport,
But he just let them speak their peace, refraining from retort
The METRICs of it all he knew, and so set to begin…
He just looked at them quietly and flashed a BIG FAT GRIN..🧗🏻‍♀️

  3. Good morning. A little slow today in coming to a successful finish but after getting all the words I was able to put a big grin on after solving the cartoon answer.

  4. Good morning again. I went to check to see what others wrote and saw that I never sent mine. Since I had a senior moment I would like to thank Angela on her terrific song choice and all the goodies after. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.

    • Good Morning, Brooklyn. And thank you so much. I’m glad you enjoyed it. But your first comment did come through. So you’re not having a senior moment! 😉 It’s happened to me too, I post something, but it doesn’t appear. Probably a little quirk with the website. And I’m glad you GAINED yourself a big grin this morning! Be well Paul, and stay safe out there…💯🙋🏻‍♀️

  5. Big was an obvious 3 letter word, but fibula got me,and I don’t think it was the first time it got me.Maybe my trip up N to watch Kate and Jane threw me off.Have a safe and sound start to the Labor Day weekend.

  6. Just wondering if Mike is still around. I seldom check comments, however, have not seen any from Mike in awhile.

  7. Hi all – Putting IC at the end showed METRIC. I had to do a few jumbles to get the last word, but just happened to try FIB and then saw FIBULA. No idea about the answer, but I saw BIG and then the ‘happy’ dialog gave GRIN and the rest.

I had to enlarge the cartoon to see the guy’s year-old picture on the table – nice touch! And I hadn’t noticed before that, in addition to the characters only having three fingers and a thumb, they also only have three toes plus a big toe.

    Good wishes to everyone.

Angela, should we wish this guy ‘Cento Libbra’ ? Great Jimmy Dean song – You reminded me of a Greatest Hits album that also had “Smoke, smoke, smoke that cigarette.” Laughed at “bone to pick”! And I like the idea of using metric to get a better number for the weight! Like the old idea of using Fahrenheit in the winter and Celsius in the summer to moderate the climate year round. And I’ve heard of people driving to Canada and wondering why the gas was *so* cheap before discovering that it was being sold by the liter, not the gallon.

“He had to SNIFF around his garage to find a hand crank to start up his old BUGGY, but since it was METRIC and didn’t quite fit, he wound up breaking his FIBULA.”

    • Hi Steve. Thanks. Yep..Always been four digits for the toes too. Goes hand in hand with the fingers…😉 The gas…IKR? Well you know what they say…”You can LITER…”. 😂 But…no luck with logo? Have a good one, Steve. Be well…stay safe. 💯🙋🏻‍♀️

      • No, no luck at all with the logo. It looks like the letter “i” on top of a Möbius strip, but searching didn’t show anything close. I figured it was one of Jeff’s bands and you’d say what it was.

  8. All went well today. Anagrams and cartoon answer fell into place nicely. Loved the song choice, “Big John”, Angela. Hope all of you have a good day.

    • Tks Betty. I’m glad you enjoyed it. Wishing you a good one too…Be well and stay safe. 💯🙋🏻‍♀️

  9. I too lost 100 pounds but over a 3 year period (and during a time I was doing multiple cruises) so I had a big fat grin as well! I liked the choice of Big John also, Angela, as this was one of my faves years ago. I am trained in anatomy and should have aced FIBULA but it took me the longest, even longer than the Jumble solution.
You all see so much more in the cartoons than I do so I must learn how to magnify them….
Stay cool this weekend, especially if you are in California, Nevada or Arizona. Don’t smoke. Drinking is OK!

    • The only way to see the details is to magnify the panel. It does make it a lot more fun. Have a good one…Stay well and safe…💯🙋🏻‍♀️

  10. I won’t FIB. One word had me stuck. Should have boned up on anatomy. Tee hee. But it came to me after a fashion.

    • Hi Agnes. I enjoyed your little word play! 👏🏻👏🏻Nicely done! Hope you’re enjoying your day. Be well and stay safe out there. 💯🙋🏻‍♀️
