  1. Good Morning, Everyone…. 🐎 WHEN IT REINS…IT POURS 🐎

🎶 My bills are all due and the baby needs shoes and I’m busted…Cotton is down to a quarter a pound, but I’m busted…I got a cow that went dry and a hen that won’t lay, a big stack of BILLS that gets bigger each day…The county’s gonna haul my belongings away cause I’m busted…I’m BROKE..no BRED…I mean like nothing…🎶”I’m Busted” – Mr. Ray Charles 1963 https://tinyurl.com/yy28dhat

🐎 Our character today you’ll see has squandered all his WEALTH,
BESIDE him being strapped for cash….it’s affected his health
One time his money bought him the best that could be had
Like seats right near the DUGOUT and a most luxurious pad,
He dined at FUSION restaurants, DENOTE they all knew him…
But now it looks like money woes have left things looking grim
A DELUGE of bills have piled up…he’s having some remorse,
And now he’s hoping he’ll be saved…it hinges on this horse…
He’s needing a real windfall…with this farm there’s much regret
This horse must win because right now he’s way SADDLED WITH DEBT…🐎

Besides being pressed for time this morning…I RAN into some trouble trying to find BESIDE in the Archives. While all the others showed up as old favorites, this one word eluded me…and even though it’s NAGging at me…I have to let it go…I mean Beside? Such a common word? Not being used before? No, too much of a LONG SHOT, right? Well…anyway, in an effort to reach the FINISH LINE this morning…I’m moving on…The stumper though? I’d say it RAN NECK and NECK between Dugout and Deluge…D’s were the only 2 words that SLOWed the Early Birds down…

Ok, our cartoon. Funny thing. Sometimes I find myself not remembering what we had for dinner last night, but for some reason the puzzles theme and our main character today kept NAGging at me…So I looked back at some old puzzles. And while the theme of Horse Racing RAN pretty well throughout the years, what really REINed me in was the puzzle of 12/26/19. https://tinyurl.com/y6sewtx3. Take a look at the man of the DOUR that day. It’s him! Only back in December he was rolling in the dough, because he had a “BRED” Winner…And he sure looked a lot better back then, right? …Now he’s looking like he’s been AROUND THE TRACK a few times…So what’s happened since then? I guess he just PURSEsued his dream a little too far…and ended up SADDLED WITH DEBT…And I BET there’s a good chance that the Missus might be out of the picture too…literally…

So, There you have it Folks…Done. Be well and be careful out there with all that we’re dealing with…The virus, the storms, the heat…It’s enough to really get our hearts RACING…Please…PACE yourself…and stay safe…🐎🙋🏻‍♀️

PS: And check out the last word of that puzzle from 12/26/19! DENOTE!…Definitely makes todays an ALSO RAN, huh? 😉🐎

    • Definitely rushing this morning…I forgot to mention that if you look closely at the puzzle, you’ll see that Jeff’s given us a big clue towards the solve. He’s drawn the owner positioning the saddle, and there’s lines of motion…MANEly to draw attention to it…🐎🙋🏻‍♀️

  2. ⚾️ Sitting in the DUGOUT BESIDE his fellow teammates, he wondered if the fans begrudged them their WEALTH…like when they were booed with a DELUGE FUSION of anger and resentment if they struck out..he just couldn’t help but DENOTE the venom…especially from the fans that might be SADDLED WITH DEBT…⚾️

💸 He wanted DUGOUT tickets…but didn’t have the WEALTH,
But the FUSION of her smile and voice…Well, it just made him melt
He had the DELUGE of his bills, but tried to save some money,
BESIDE it all he really hoped to make this girl his Honey…
He knew he’d never swing it though, DENOTE..in stone it’s set
It’s gonna have to be outfield…that or SADDLED WITH DEBT…💸

  3. Aren’t we all “saddled with debt” to a certain extent.I usually have a problem with the Sunday Jumble because of the extra words and letters. But today went ok ,after a momentary pause on dugout, that was looking like dough, minus the H,at first. Then the cartoon solution, with the horse related theme was a quick solve.Have a safe and sound Sunday.

    • Good Morning, Professor….Yes, we are…especially today. Emotionally, financially, mentally…it’s there. But I’m glad you had a good go of it with the puzzle…Have a good one, Prof. Be well and stay safe out there….🐎🙋🏻‍♀️

  4. Hi Everyone – For me it was Deluge. I backed in. The drawing helped a lot, and. I like the way Jeff showed the horse, with his eyes, listening to the conversation.

    • Good Morning, Caroline…IKR? The horse…Probably thinking…”Uh oh…this sounds like a TAIL of WHOA for me”! 😉 Have a good one, Caroline…Be well and stay safe…🐎🙋🏻‍♀️

      • Tail of whoa, very cute!
True about Regis. And John Lewis was another great loss.

        • Tks, Caroline. There was so much I meant to include in my post, but I was running so late this morning that I did it all by the seat of my pants…I’m looking at notes that I made and wondering if I fell alsleep half-way through it! I left out the whole eye candy part…🤦🏻‍♀️ Not having the best day. Unfortunately, so many more important things to worry about. But yes, Congressman Lewis was a truly wonderful man. I’m just so tired of hearing about so much death…It’s definitely been a horrible year so far…😪🙋🏻‍♀️

    • Just read that John Lewis’ casket was conveyed across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma. Quite an appropriate tribute.

      • I watched it. ABC and George Stephanopoulos covered it live. He went across on a flag-draped horse-drawn carriage. Peacefully…An amazing tribute…it made me cry…😥 …

      • It was beautiful to see. And now there’s an effort to get the bridge named after him.

        • Yes, Caroline, it definitely was. And you can go to change.org to sign the petition to rename the bridge. I hope it’ll be a success…🇺🇸🙋🏻‍♀️

  5. Good morning. Heck of a jumble for me today but I loved it. It took forever to get both parts of jumble. When I finally made up my mind the last word was debt I saw with for the second word and finally saw saddled for the first. Never picked up on the solid hint with the horse staring right at me. Loved your song choice Angela. Until tomorrow stay well.

    • Hmm..Is this a case of “not looking” a gift HORSE in the mouth?? 😂😂 Good Morning, Brooklyn…I told you Bud… you have to study that cartoon…It’s always right on the MONEY! 😉 Glad you enjoyed the music, Paul. Have a good one…Be well, stay indoors…🔥🔥…and be safe out there…🐎🙋🏻‍♀️

  6. Hi all – I happened to get all the words with just a quick pause at FUSION. I wrote the letters and saw the answer – should have looked more closely at the cartoon first to see the prominent SADDLE.

    Good wishes to everyone.

Along the same lines as your sentence Angela. DUGOUT kind of constrained things. Maybe I should have tried to get DUGOUT CANOE in there!
“The WEALTH represented by just two ballplayers sitting BESIDE each other in the DUGOUT would DENOTE a white-hot FUSION of anger in the DELUGE of comments from the fans complaining that they left the rest of the team SADDLED WITH DEBT.”

A giant of British blues died yesterday; Peter Green, who replaced Eric Clapton in John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers and then co-founded Fleetwood Mac with Mick Fleetwood on drums. No less a blues legend than BB King said that he loved Green’s guitar tone – quite a recommendation! I’ll just leave two links here and in the following post.
The first reminded me of a song that Paul said he liked – it seems to me to feel like a 60’s version of Santo and Johnny’s 50’s hit “Sleep Walk”. It’s Fleetwood Mac’s only #1 record, “Albatross”:

    • Dugout was extremely constraining…For a minute there I thought I’d have to SIT OUT this one…😉…And as I told Caroline, just way too much death recently…It’s gotten that every time my phone goes off with a notification, I’m afraid to look…😪. And here’s an article I think you’ll enjoy reading… https://tinyurl.com/y48rlhle…Be well, Steve…and stay safe out there…🐎🙋🏻‍♀️

    • Steve…Beautiful as this is, you do realize it’s not the original Albatross This is the version recorded by the poster, Jack the Axeman. And he definitely did it justice…🎸🙋🏻‍♀️

      • Thanks for the correction. I was going too fast, the beginning sounded right, and I went by the title “Albatross – studio version.” He just didn’t say it was *his* studio version!
Maybe this is the authentic one:
        https://tinyurl.com/yysdgos2

        • Yes, this is Fleetwood Mac’s. And NP…it’s just one of those days I think. Too much stress…The other version…I think the guy does say it’s his… later on. I think maybe somebody calls him on it, or he starts bragging on himself. (His “defense”…he never did “post“ it as FM’s. The studio was “his”, I guess)! But he does offer a close cover of it, I’ll give him that…🤷🏻‍♀️

  7. ….And not meaning to sound morbid, but just as I said…My phone just went off.. and another legend has passed away. The beautiful Olivia de Havilland. Granted, at 104, she lived a long, wonderful life…but still. It just doesn’t seem to end. RIP to a charming, gracious woman. 💔

    • I worked years ago with a fellow who said, famous celebrities like Regis and Olivia, died in groups of three.

      • My Mother always said that too. And I think it’s said quite often, even in the media. Freaky thing, I saw last night on some Italian-American site that John Saxon had passed away. He was a terrific character actor. So I guess that hopefully gives us our hat trick…not to be disrespectful…It’s just that it’s a lot…and I’m starting to feel like the Grim Reaper…😥
